At a event in Soramachi, there was a booth selling take-out mochi in three flavors: anko (sweet red bean paste), matcha, and mitarashi. The texture was more like fried mochi, similar to a heavier version of Mister Donut's Pon de Ring. It was recommended to toast it for 3-5 minutes, and when I tried it, the surface was crispy while the inside had a dense and chewy texture, which I quite enjoyed (although it was a bit greasy). Of the three flavors, I liked the anko the best as it paired well with the chewy dough. The matcha was also good with a mild sweetness, but the mitarashi was a bit too sweet for my taste. It came in a pack of 10 for 1300 yen. Overall, it was delicious.

On the way to Fushimi Inari, I saw this on the approach and decided to stop by on the way back. It reminded me of something I wanted to eat in Yamanashi but couldn't find because it's not in season. The Mizumaru Mochi is probably made of agar, water, and sugar, a simple sweet. It has a very seductive wobble. The taste is just agar and sugar, nothing more, but on a hot day with high humidity around 30 degrees, it was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

End-of-year family trip to Kyoto with four family members. We stopped by and tried Marumochi Mitarashi for 100 yen. It is a round ball about 30mm in diameter with a skin thickness of about 5mm. The skin is crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. The Mitarashi bean paste is not too sticky but has a slight gooey texture. The sweetness and saltiness are mild and delicious. Personally, I was a bit surprised because I am more familiar with the nutty and sweet-savory flavor of the ones from Nagoya.

On January 2, 2018, I bought my usual "marumochi" at Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine for the New Year's visit. I usually purchase it at the main store, but this year I bought it at Marumochi-ya, which opened last year and has a café (teahouse) attached. This shop is located right next to Inari Station on the JR line and the torii gate of Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine. Unlike the main store, this place has a café (teahouse) so you can eat inside. This time, I bought the usual "mitarashi," "matcha," "red bean," and the "marumochi chocolate" that I missed out on last year. I have written reviews for the other flavors at the main store, but personally, I like the mitarashi flavor the best. Of course, the other flavors are delicious too. The chocolate flavor I tried for the first time was slightly crispy when warmed in a toaster, and the chocolate inside was not too sweet and tasted great. It had a hint of black sesame flavor that paired perfectly with the marumochi. It would make a nice little souvenir after visiting Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine (^-^) I would like to review the café when I visit again.

I am currently participating in a food event at Nagoya Mitsukoshi starting from Wednesday. There are four types of round and chewy round mochis available. The most popular ones are mitarashi and azuki bean paste, so I bought those. I didn't prefer the sakura and chocolate flavors, so I got three mitarashi mochis and two azuki bean paste mochis. They were delicious.
