This restaurant used to be featured on Omoimasu TV. The location is good as it is near the station. It seems like there is no parking lot, so I parked at a nearby coin parking. The restaurant is renovated from a house, so it was a bit hard to notice at first. When I entered, a very friendly "mother" welcomed me! I had the Chicken Nanban and Honey Mustard. The portions were too big, so we shared them.

I got off at Fukakusa Station for the first time. I thought it was a takoyaki shop, but it turned out to be a set meal restaurant. The menu was all priced at 600 yen for students, 700 yen for adults. They also had a special menu for students at 500 yen. I ordered the chicken nanban set meal and it came on a silver plate with a generous amount of rice. The owner even offered seconds. I felt like a student again as I eagerly ate the sweet and sour chicken with the rice. In the back, I saw female students from Ryukoku University chatting with the owner while enjoying their meal. Kyoto truly is a place that supports students.

During a visit to my hometown, I heard about a restaurant called "Omomaimai Store" in the neighboring town and decided to go there with my sister. Despite being near Ryukoku University, the place was not crowded on a Sunday afternoon, with only one middle-aged man there. The menu stated that each person must order at least one dish, which was a bit confusing for us at the time. We had never heard of "Omomaimai Store" before, so we felt like we were about to experience something unexpected. We ordered an omelette rice, fried rice, and stir-fried vegetables, but when the waitress asked if we could finish it, we naively said, "Sure." Little did we know what we were getting into. The omelette rice was served like a whole cake, and I immediately regretted my decision. I struggled to finish it, sweating profusely, and feeling like I was in a "stuffed elephant" situation. The waitress mentioned the price, around 700-800 yen, casually. I tried my best to eat without stopping for water, and finally managed to finish it. My sister, who had ordered the same "whole size" fried rice, only ate about 30% and pushed it towards me, apologizing. I felt like I was going to explode but continued to fight through the second round. Just when I thought I couldn't eat anymore, the waitress brought out the stir-fried vegetables, saying, "It comes with rice as well." I politely declined the rice and reluctantly started the third round with the vegetables. Meanwhile, the man sitting next to us, who looked like a construction worker, was offered a second serving of curry rice, which he declined with a half-dead expression. It turned out that this place offered unlimited free refills. Exhausted, I made a mental note to avoid the omelette rice, fried rice, and stir-fried vegetables for a while. As I sat there unable to move, I watched two sparrows playing outside the entrance of the restaurant, which was actually a regular house. I vowed to never underestimate the portion sizes at "Omomaimai Store" again.

"Teppan" (Kyoto, near Ryukoku University Mae Fukakusa Station) is a unique restaurant where you pay 600 yen to order one dish, and then you can have unlimited refills of that dish and rice. It's not exactly an all-you-can-eat concept, but more like an all-you-can-refill concept for that specific dish. For example, if you order yakisoba, you cannot refill with curry rice (you need to pay another 600 yen for that). The same goes for dishes like fried chicken and pork cutlet. And all this for just 600 yen. This time, I ordered the omurice, which is already quite large. Since they make the dish after you order, it may take some time. I didn't ask for a refill this time. Here are some other restaurants featured on the "Delicious Restaurant" show: "Chinese Cuisine Yamato" with a 1.8 kg mountain of champon, "IVO Holmes Pasta Shinjuku" with a despair-inducing spaghetti, "Cafe Kei" with a fluffy omelet curry for 450 yen, "Koguma no Pooh-san" with a 650 yen meal set with plenty of polyum, "Himawari" with a large serving of omurice, "Oyatsu-ya Hyouzakura" with an 850 yen meal set with a mountain of rice and plenty of side dishes, "Sandaime Kimuraya" with a 980 yen buri shabu-shabu meal set, "Izakaya Yattoru?" with a special seafood bowl, and "Shokudo Uppa."

In August 2022, it was featured in a popular restaurant show. All menu items are priced at 500 yen for students and 600 yen for adults, with free refills. I ordered the pork cutlet curry, but it was served in a deep dish and I couldn't finish it. Students might be able to finish it. Also, while refills are allowed, only athletic students would likely take advantage of that.

"Tepan" (Kyoto, Ryukoku-mae Fukakusa Station) This restaurant offers all-you-can-eat rice and a specific dish for 600 yen. Students can enjoy this deal for 500 yen. It's important to note that the all-you-can-eat option applies to the dish you order, not additional dishes like curry rice (which would require an extra 600 yen). Dishes like fried chicken and pork cutlet also follow this system. For example, if you order omurice for 600 yen, you will receive a large portion. You can also request refills of the dish. I opted for two servings this time, but some may even go for a third. The omurice alone is worth 300 yen each. Additionally, here are some other restaurants featured on the "Delicious Restaurants" show: 1. "Chuka Ryori Yamato" in Hyogo, where you can try an 8kg mountain of champon for 450 yen. 2. "Kissa Kei" with a fluffy omelet curry for 650 yen. 3. "Himawari" in Wakayama, offering a voluminous set meal. 4. "Koguma no Pooh-san" with a polyum meal for 650 yen. 5. "Sandaima Kimuraya" in Osaka, known for their dishes. 6. "Izakaya Yattoru?" with their unique menu. 7. "Shokudo Appa" in Osaka, offering a satisfying meal experience.

Delicious restaurants in December Part 1 So far, I have written about three restaurants that were featured on the show "Delicious Restaurants" after visiting them later on. However, the restaurants I visited this year that were later featured on the show were "Tepan" (Kyoto, near Ryukoku University Mae Fukakusa Station). This restaurant offers a unique concept where you pay 500 yen to order a dish, and then you can have unlimited refills of that dish and rice. It's more like "unlimited refills" rather than "all-you-can-eat" because you can only refill the specific dish you ordered. For example, if you order yakisoba, you cannot refill with curry rice (you need to order separately for 500 yen). They offer dishes like fried chicken, tonkatsu, and grilled meat in the same way. And all this for only 500 yen. This time, I ordered the jumbo omurice for 500 yen. The dish is made to order after you place your order. I was concerned that after being featured on a TV show, especially a nationwide broadcast like "Delicious Restaurants," such restaurants might be overwhelmed by demanding customers. However, when I visited recently, I was relieved to see that the restaurant was still operating smoothly. There are customers who order a rice bowl dish and then ask for refills of just the ingredients, leaving the rice behind. This time, I ordered the omurice for 600 yen. It seemed larger than the last time I ordered it... Was it just my imagination? I initially planned to order a refill like last time, but the portion seemed unexpectedly large, so I hesitated and decided not to order a refill this time. But for 600 yen, it was definitely worth it.

Last day of the Kansai trip. Stayed near Kyoto Station the night before. Visited this restaurant recommended by "Omoshiroi Resu" in the morning. We were allowed in at 11 o'clock and seated at a table. My friend ordered the "Katsu Curry" and I ordered the "Hamburger Set (no refills)." The TV mama was out shopping, so we had to wait a bit. The restaurant filled up while we waited. When the mama returned, she started cooking. My friend's "Katsu Curry" tasted like homemade curry that was made too often. The rice was... well, not the best. By the time my friend finished, my "Hamburger" arrived. The surface was nicely grilled and crispy, and the inside was cooked through. The texture and sweetness of the onions came through well. As for the rice... (I wish there was miso soup.) Maybe it's better to go in the evening or at night rather than at lunchtime. Thank you for the meal.

The rice at the curry cutlet accommodation wasn't that appealing, so I decided to look for something else near the station. I saw a sign for a restaurant called "Delicious Restaurant" and asked the owner if they had been on TV. Since they had been on a few shows, I decided to order the curry cutlet. The interior of the restaurant felt just like being invited into someone's home. The curry cutlet was indeed plentiful, as expected from a restaurant featured on TV. Plus, they offered free refills. I felt like I needed more curry to balance out the slightly dry rice, so I asked for a refill, and they even gave me an extra egg for flavor variation (and it was free, of course). I learned that you shouldn't underestimate restaurants featured on "Delicious Restaurant"!

This restaurant offers almost all items for 500 yen. Moreover, the owner is so kind that refills are free. Located next to the university, it is quite student-friendly. The portions are unbelievably large, much more than expected. The plate may not look deep in the photo, but it is actually deeper than usual and contains more than two servings of regular curry. The taste is decent for the price. The portion size is not at all proportional to the price (in a good way). Perhaps due to overeating, or maybe because of the quantity, I ended up with an upset stomach. Thank you for the meal!

The new series by the Moon Matagi is the Hamburger Showdown 15. Just like the previous seafood bowl series, it heads towards the cheapest option towards the end. Hamburger Showdown 15 - Part 10 October 12th Opening "Tepan" (Kyoto, near Ryukoku-daigaku-mae Fukakusa Station). In this restaurant, when you pay 500 yen to order a dish, you can have unlimited refills of that dish and rice. It's more like "refillable" rather than "all-you-can-eat." For example, if you order yakisoba, you can't get a refill of curry rice (you need to pay another 500 yen). The same goes for fried chicken, pork cutlet, and yakiniku. Normally, it's just about the rice, but in this restaurant, you can also get refills of side dishes. And all this for just 500 yen. Last time, I ordered the omelet rice (jumbo) for 500 yen. This time, I tried the classic hamburger, but it was tough. I don't like hamburgers that fall apart just by touching them, but even if it's tough, this was not good. Two pieces were more than enough for me. I didn't ask for a refill.

I heard about this place and decided to visit. They offer all-you-can-eat of the same menu item for 500 yen each. When I arrived after 12:30, there were only three customers in the restaurant - one middle-aged man and two young men. I ordered the pork kimchi, which cost 500 yen. The first dish to arrive was the tonkatsu curry, which came in a large plate filled with curry sauce. It was surprising. The pork kimchi, on the other hand, came in a smaller plate with lettuce and pork kimchi. It had a decent amount of food and was tasty with a hint of sourness. The rice portion was generous. I managed to finish everything. From what I saw, no one ordered seconds.

This 7-day period will feature one-coin lunch options. All 7 restaurants in this blog are making their debut. This week is dedicated to one-coin omurice, with a total of 7 days of omurice content. The series includes regular omurice from 2 restaurants, leading up to a jumbo omurice. The final day will feature all-you-can-eat jumbo omurice. Today's new restaurant is "Teppan" (Kyoto, near Ryukoku University-Mae Fukakusa Station), which opened on October 12, 2022. At this restaurant, you pay 500 yen to order a dish, and then you can have unlimited refills of that dish and rice. This applies to all dishes like fried chicken, pork cutlet, and grilled meat. The omurice (jumbo) I ordered cost 500 yen. It was made to order, and when it arrived, I considered getting a refill but decided against it to avoid being too presumptuous. I had essentially eaten a jumbo omurice for 250 yen. It reminded me of another restaurant that serves a 250 yen omurice, which made me question how they make a profit. Perhaps I will challenge that restaurant next time.

I saw it on TV the other day! It's cheap and all-you-can-eat. At first, it's just curry. The taste is... try it out!
