forever friends
Today's walk started by leaving the inn and heading towards Sanjo Street, first stopping at miel mie Sanjo Main Store. We bought some domestically produced honey by weight (I won't review it this time) and then stopped by a Japanese sweets shop we saw on the way, before heading out to Senbon Street. From there, we walked north, but it was around lunchtime. We searched on Tabelog for a place to eat, and found a popular Chinese restaurant (also selected as one of the top 100 restaurants) that looked promising, so we decided to visit without a reservation (a bit reckless). They told us we would have to wait for about 1.5 hours. Since we had dinner planned for 6:00 PM, this was not possible, so we gave up. We went back towards the station, but my husband was not pleased, saying "What are we going to do now?" with a dissatisfied look. While staring at my smartphone screen and pondering, I suddenly looked to the side and saw this restaurant. There was a signboard outside the restaurant displaying the pasta lunch menu. My husband, who had switched to full Chinese food mode, reluctantly agreed, saying "It looks good, and if we have pasta, it won't be too heavy for dinner, right?" We opened the door and asked, "Excuse me, we didn't make a reservation, can we have lunch?" and they kindly let us in. When we entered, there was a counter. It seemed to be used as a waiting area, as the food was not served here. As we went further in, we found table seating, but the space was not very large, with only about 12 seats. Luckily, we were smoothly seated, but the restaurant was full by the time we entered. If you plan to visit, it's probably safer to make a reservation. We looked at the menu and decided to share the daily pasta set (there were about 3 options available). My husband chose the Bolognese with a soft-boiled egg, and I chose the octopus, tomato, and zucchini. The strong sunlight made it hot, so my husband also wanted a beer (laughs). He was delighted with his favorite Peroni beer. First, a leaf salad was brought out, fresh with a rich vegetable flavor that paired well with the dressing. Next, freshly warmed homemade focaccia and pasta were served. The Bolognese with a soft-boiled egg had plenty of finely grated cheese on top. My husband, who tried the pasta without mixing it first, said, "Delicious! Try it," and indeed! The slightly larger minced meat was full of the richness of the sauce. It mixed well with the pasta and was delicious! The octopus, tomato, and zucchini pasta was refreshing and perfect for the upcoming hot season. The light tomato-based sauce went down smoothly. The food was so delicious that I decided to order a dessert. The dessert of the day was tiramisu and roasted green tea ice cream. This was also delicious. We visited on a whim, but it turned out to be a great choice. Maybe it was better than going for Chinese food (laughs). I would love to try various dishes here, so I might visit for the lunch course or dinner next time. Thank you for the delicious meal!
