I found a Castella cake coated with Wasanbon sugar at Itohken's storefront. The cake is made with plenty of eggs, baked in a fluffy and simple style. The coating of Wasanbon sugar gives it a moist and delicious taste.

A new sensation in traditional Japanese sweets, a collaboration with SOU・SOU design. This nostalgic yet innovative "warabe-gashi" features a layer of chewy bracken starch with a clear agar jelly on top. It is refreshing and also has a fragrant roasted tea flavor.

Located on the first floor of JR Kyoto Isetan, this shop has a parking lot. I wanted to give a gift to someone I am grateful for, so I finally visited this shop that I had been interested in. This shop offers sweets created by Itohken, a long-established Kyoto confectionery store founded in 1864, with SOU・SOU designs. I purchased their signature product, the "Goro Goro Apple Pie," which comes in a pack of 5 for 825 yen (excluding tax), as well as one for myself for 135 yen (excluding tax). The pie is a round, crispy pastry filled with crunchy apples, raisins, cranberries, and pears. When you take a bite, the bursting fruit flavors explode in your mouth. It's delicious! I am sure the recipient will be delighted with this gift. I will definitely come back to buy some for myself again.

I ordered some sweets from sousou that I had been curious about while ordering clothes. The baked chocolate apple and moist chocolate sablé were quite sweet. The fortune cookie senbei had a simple taste. Overall, I thought it would be better if they were a little less sweet, but my husband thought the sweetness was just right.

Wow, this collaboration with sousou is so stylish! Honestly, I didn't have high expectations for the taste, but I ended up buying it because of its cuteness and stylishness. One good point is that despite collaborating with sousou, the price was reasonable. It could have been much more expensive, but it starts from around 100 yen, so it's quite affordable. In terms of taste, the Matsukaze cookies are light and have a "sweet rice cracker" kind of feel. It was surprisingly delicious, and I could see the influence of collaborating with Itohkyuemon. It's also nice that it comes with a postcard! It's perfect as a souvenir for girls because it's stylish. The chocolate sable selected for JAL's in-flight meal was honestly too sweet for me. It's not good or bad, just a clear taste that would likely appeal to foreigners. Speaking of which, I noticed that a lot of foreigners post about this confectionery on Instagram. The stylish appearance seems to be well-received, but the straightforward taste might also be a reason why it appeals to foreigners. I'll definitely buy it again to give to others.

Before returning home from my April trip to Kyoto, as usual, I was looking for snacks at Isetan underground. I always struggle with decisions, even after researching in advance, so I ended up stopping at a shop with cute packaging. I wasn't sure what kind of shop it was, so I looked it up. It turns out it's a Kyoto brand called SOU・SOU that creates textile designs representing Japan's seasons and atmosphere in a pop style. I bought three items: "Moist Chocolate Sablé Uji Matcha x White Chocolate," "Chunky Apple Pie," and "Baked Chocolate Apple." The one I was most excited about was the "Moist Chocolate Sablé," but in terms of ranking, it turned out to be: 1. Chunky Apple Pie 2. Baked Chocolate Apple 3. Moist Chocolate Sablé. The Moist Chocolate Sablé was too soft and lacked the expected matcha bitterness and flavor, coming across as just a sweet undercooked cookie. The Baked Chocolate Apple had a good balance between the chocolate cookie and the soft white chocolate and diced apple dried fruits inside. Lastly, the Chunky Apple Pie, which I randomly added to my basket, turned out to be the best, especially when reheated in a toaster. It tasted delicious, with the raisins adding a nice touch. I highly recommend it, but keep in mind it needs to be reheated. The total cost was ¥993.

I received this as a gift. Moist chocolate sablé with Uji matcha and white chocolate... What is this? It's like they made Country Ma'am, which is already delicious, five times more delicious. The moist cookie dough is so good.

I purchased these during the Valentine's season. I got the baked chocolate and apple flavors. The packaging has an apple design which is very cute, don't you think? These are light and fluffy steamed buns, similar to the ones often found as souvenirs from hot springs. However, they have dried apple fruits inside which make them tasty. They are a bit too sweet though. They might make your mouth feel dry, so you'll need a non-sweet drink to go with them.

Isetan's basement has been renovated, and a collaboration store between Itohken and SOUSOU has opened! SOUSOU's cute designs are now available in the form of sweets. While the prime number castella cake caught my eye, what really drew me in was the "Coconut Matsukaze" for 195 yen (tax included). It's so cute! When you eat it, you can taste the coconut flavor, and when you flip it over, you can see the Matsukaze design. The fact that the packaging can be used as a postcard is also very SOUSOU-like!

I received a souvenir from a friend! The cute package has a cute pine wind motif on the cardboard, which can be used as a postcard (separately wrapped). It has a cute square face drawn on it, and it's really cute. I tried coconut flavored pine wind for the first time, and I really liked it.
