The main event this time was a live performance by a male singer with an enchanting falsetto♪... So, I headed to the Kyoto Kaikan. If you're going to Kyoto during the peak autumn leaves season, you definitely can't miss out on leaf-peeping! Feeling like a tourist, in high spirits~♪ I set out early for some leaf-peeping, and first things first, a delicious-looking lunch♪ After browsing through Tabelog beforehand, I found a restaurant (^-^)/ From Higashiyama Station, I headed towards Heian Shrine, turned at the intersection of Jingu Street, and almost missed it... but luckily I found the signboard! The restaurant required taking off shoes at the entrance and going up to the second floor. As I climbed the stairs, I could see the kitchen curtain to the left, tatami seating for groups of customers getting lively. To the right, there was a counter with 8 seats extending from the kitchen, and there were more tatami seats at the back. Although I had made a reservation, the place was so full that I started to worry. But I was seated at the counter without waiting, was it just by chance or thanks to the reservation? (laughs) There were only two lunch menu options, but when I saw the "Shokado Bento \2800" next to me, I immediately decided (^-^)v Inside the counter, the chef was incredibly busy, handling orders with a skill that made me wonder if he had four hands? (laughs) Despite the crowd, the dishes came out quickly. Shokado Bento: - Assorted simmered vegetables (taro, pumpkin, shiitake mushrooms, chewy paste, colorful string beans) - Grilled yellowtail - Fresh wheat gluten - Assorted bamboo basket (jellyfish, boiled octopus, burdock root, rolled omelette, simmered pork, shrimp, sweet simmered sweet potato, grapes) - Sashimi... tuna, yellowtail, red snapper dashi (forgot to take a picture), rice, pickles Each dish was delicious, elegant, and beautiful♪ It was almost a shame to finish such exquisite dishes. Among them, the sashimi was fresh, firm, and juicy! Oh, it was so delicious (*^-')b Being in Kyoto during the autumn leaves season, close to Heian Shrine, and with such a fulfilling taste and content at this price, it's no wonder the place was crowded. As I was leaving, the staff apologized for the crowdedness, but that's what I expected when I visited, and with that one word, I felt like visiting again. Also, the chef, who was so powerful at the counter, appeared refined and had a soft conversational style when I talked to him after things had calmed down, which further increased my favorable impression (o^-')b
