Lunch is reasonably priced from 980 yen, available from 11:30 am to 3 pm, which is convenient. They mainly serve set meals with Western dishes and desserts, but in the evening, it turns into an izakaya with stylish sunken kotatsu seats downstairs. During weekdays at lunchtime, it seems popular among women, as I didn't see many men. In this area where there are many delicious lunch spots, you might wonder about the taste and cost-effectiveness, but it's recommended for those looking for a less crowded place. It's a bit disappointing that there are few staff members and they may not come even when called.

This is an izakaya located on the basement floor of Hotel Gimmond Kyoto. They offer Japanese breakfast in the morning, lunch during the day, and izakaya dishes at night. Operated by J.F.S. Corporation, it is open to both hotel guests and external customers. It is located about 1-2 minutes from the Karasuma Oike intersection along Oike Street. The interior has a slightly dim and traditional Japanese atmosphere with attention to detail in the decor. Most customers are hotel guests, including many from overseas. There are table seats and sunken kotatsu seats available. During my morning visit, I was seated in a sunken kotatsu seat and served by a very friendly staff member. The breakfast menu (7:00-9:30) with prices including tax and hot coffee is as follows: - Oike (1,400 yen): Grilled fish, egg dish, various side dishes, pickles, rice, miso soup - Marutamachi (770 yen): Grilled fish, egg dish, pickles, rice, miso soup I ordered the Marutamachi set, which included grilled salmon, lettuce, soft-boiled egg, side dish (green beans with sesame dressing), pickles, rice, miso soup, and seasoned seaweed. The content was good for the price, with the salmon being tender and the egg being cooked perfectly. After the meal, I enjoyed a cup of coffee and relaxed. It's rare to find a place serving Japanese breakfast from 7:00 in this area, so it's good to remember for future reference.

I stayed at the Ginmondo Hotel during my trip to Kyoto. It was Golden Week, and there was some construction going on during the day, but it didn't bother me at all as I was out exploring most of the time. The hotel had a plan without breakfast, but you could choose to have breakfast at either the Italian restaurant on the first floor or the Japanese restaurant on the basement floor without needing a reservation. I decided to try the Japanese restaurant, called Chojiya, as I wanted to have a quick breakfast before heading to Rurikoin to see the blue maple leaves, which are only available to view in spring and autumn. Chojiya had a serene and chic atmosphere, with both table seating and traditional sunken kotatsu seating available. I opted for the cheaper breakfast option, while my husband chose the more expensive one, which mainly differed in the number of small dishes served. The breakfast was delicious, especially the grilled salmon. Overall, it was a satisfying Japanese breakfast experience.

I visited when it was cold. I wanted to eat hot pot, so I had chicken and Kujo green onion salt koji hot pot. It warmed my body and I wanted to eat it again. The service was good and the atmosphere was very comfortable. Thank you for the meal.

I had a limited quantity curry. The shrimp fry was substantial and satisfying, with more volume than it appeared. It was delicious.

Daily lunch special for 880 yen. The cream croquettes are big, you get three of them! The restaurant is not smoke-free, so cigarette smoke can drift over.

The beautiful staff, the calming and lovely interior, delicious food. It's the best. I only had the mackerel salt-grilled set meal, but it seems like it's going to become my favorite.

In the midst of the GW hustle, I found a calm place to have a meal. All the dishes were excellent, and the staff members were friendly. The cost performance was also great, and I left very satisfied! It's a hidden gem. I would love to go back when I visit Kyoto again.

The place is spacious and relaxed, we always go in large groups. The hot pot is really delicious, with a soup that is incredibly tasty even with normal ingredients. When I asked, they said they use white miso, which is so Kyoto-like! The udon for the finish is so delicious that I could eat it forever. Even though I always get really full, the next day I already want to go back for more.

A stylish atmosphere with sunken kotatsu seating. The lunch menu offers a choice of meat and fish, making it a great option for dining out with others.

Omelette rice is delicious, but nowadays it's a bit disappointing that the restaurant doesn't have a non-smoking area.
