While driving on the national highway, I found this place and decided to make a U-turn. The parking lot was located behind the shop, down a side alley. There were two groups ahead of me, but before I knew it, a long line had formed. I couldn't decide between the chocolate or strawberry tiramisu, but ended up choosing the strawberry. They also gave me a bonus chocolate on top, which was a nice surprise. They mentioned that there was alcohol in it. The dessert was incredibly smooth and creamy, much better than regular soft serve ice cream. It was delicious, a real gem. I will definitely come back again. Thank you for the meal.

The prices are reasonable, and it's a nice treat to have once in a while. I'll definitely go back to eat again.

Once a table was available, we ordered from the menu. We asked for two flavors, sake lees and chestnut. The dishes were served with a small chocolate topping as a special treat. I browsed the gelato in the display case, and the staff asked, "What kind of gelato would you like?" I requested hazelnut, and they suggested, "A good match would be chocolate or honey." Following their advice, I ordered a two-flavor cup of hazelnut and honey for 500 yen including tax, and they even gave me a complimentary taste of chocolate. The hazelnut was rich and as expected, while the honey was refreshing and indeed a good match. The rich chocolate was also quite enjoyable. All the flavors showed a dedication to quality ingredients. The taste was impeccable. It would be even better if it were a bit cheaper.

It was so good that I went back the next day, haha. The female shop owner seemed a bit aloof, but she recommended combinations that worked well together, showing her dedication. Aoyama Mountain, also known as Wakasa Fuji, stands between Kyoto and Fukui, reaching about 700m in elevation with its eastern and western peaks. Near the trailhead on the Fukui side in Takahama Town, I stumbled upon a historic temple called Chuuzan-ji. Luckily, I visited during a special opening of the hidden Buddha statue and even got to witness a Goma ritual. Feeling fortunate, I drove through Maizuru city on my way back, stopping for a break at Mika Mare, a small gelato shop between the red brick warehouses and Mount Gorogatake. I chose hazelnut and white chocolate gelato for 400 yen, which had a great flavor combination. The quality was decent, though the portion size was a bit small. I also ordered coffee for 500 yen, which was just average. After leaving the shop, I headed back home, remembering that Tottori was quite a distance away. I drove safely back home.
