On this day, I have work in Kyoto city in the afternoon. I leave the office at 10:30 and head to Tanimachi 9-chome station. As I cross the pedestrian crossing in front of Kintetsu Department Store and Hi-Hi Town, a woman walking towards me waves her hand. Ah!! It was the cashier from "Nankai Restaurant"! She waves her hand and says, "Have a good day!" as I pass through the food court area of Hi-Hi Town and head to Tanimachi 9-chome station. I transfer to Keihan at Temmabashi and arrive at Demachiyanagi. I visit "Ragtime Ron" for the first time. It is a restaurant near the Kawaramachi Imadegawa intersection. - Hamburger and Omelette Set Meal 800 yen (including tax) (with side dish, rice, miso soup) The food was served in about 5 minutes. Other than the main dish plate, everything else is completely Japanese style. Main Dish: A reasonably large hamburger with plenty of special sauce. It doesn't overflow with juices, but you can still taste the meat juices nicely. The sauce is not a modern demi-glace sauce, but a traditional style sauce. I really like this kind of hamburger! The omelette was delicious! It's more like the egg dish that comes with a Chinese lunch set rather than a Western omelette. It was really tasty!!! The side dish was spaghetti with ketchup and cabbage + lettuce + dressing. Side Dish: Since it was an egg dish, it overlapped with the omelette. This was just delicious. Miso Soup: The seaweed and tofu miso soup was piping hot the whole time! Kombu Threads: I'm not sure if it's called kombu threads, but I put it on the rice and ate it. It's been years since I had it. I like it! Rice: I didn't go for the large portion, but it was quite substantial! For 800 yen, this volume and quality in Kyoto city, I think it's a great value! Thank you for the meal!

It's like a cafeteria, but it seems like people also come here to drink at night. It's run by Mr. and Mrs. Namimura, with Mr. Namimura handling the customer service and serving, while Mrs. Namimura is in charge of cooking. The daily special for 750 yen includes chicken cutlet with curry sauce, minced meat omelette, rice, miso soup, pickles, and a small side dish (dried radish). The omelette here has a soft and gentle taste. It's so soft that it's a bit difficult to eat. The chicken cutlet is cut into three small pieces. The curry sauce is quite unique. There's also salad and spaghetti. The side dish for today's daily special had a lot of flavor. The miso soup is average and I asked for a smaller portion of rice. It's not amazingly delicious, but having this kind of casual cafeteria in a key location like Kawaramachi Imadegawa that has been around for quite a while is truly valuable. Their bento boxes are also popular, freshly made with a variety of options. Only the service bento boxes are pre-made, but they are cheap at 500 yen. Limited to 20 boxes. Thank you for the meal. The menu was handwritten, and they even had a small window for takeout bento boxes. The prices were incredibly cheap, almost unbelievably so. I wondered how they could sustain their business with such low prices. This time, I ordered the pork tomato stew set, while my partner got the hamburger and omelette set. The food came out quickly after a 10-minute wait. In addition to rice and miso soup, we also got pickles and side dishes. The set included ketchup pasta, salad, and the main dish. The portions were generous, but the taste was just okay, nothing special. It tasted like store-bought sauce. The prices were fair. As we were leaving, I realized that it was actually the old lady, not the old man in the cook's outfit, who was doing the cooking. It was the opposite of what I had expected.

I ordered the "B set" which came with tonkatsu, omelette, salad, and rice. It seemed like they prepared the food after I ordered, but the owner served it quickly with skill. The food was not high-end, but more like casual Western cuisine, making it a convenient spot for when you're short on time.

The atmosphere is not particularly cozy, and it's not a stylish restaurant. It's a casual place where salarymen relax for lunch on weekdays, not on weekends. The prices are reasonable, which is reassuring for the working people in the area. They also sell bento boxes from a separate window, so you can easily grab one without going inside. The menu includes daily lunch specials, as well as classic curry and pasta that change daily. The curry, being a restaurant, has a very well-developed flavor that I liked. They also serve old-fashioned Western dishes like bacon and eggs or omelettes. It's not the kind of place you'd go to for a specific taste, and there are some complaints about the highball pilaf not being authentic Kumamoto style, but overall, it's a casual spot where you can enjoy flavors from the past.
