Sweet shop number 766♡ Henri Charpentier, a Western confectionery shop with its main store in Ashiya. They handle sweets using Kyoto matcha at Henri Charpentier, Hanare Tenpo. It is supervised by Togenbei Higashi, one of only 15 "master tea instructors" in Japan. I love Henri, but this is the first time I've seen matcha Henri♡ For my matcha-loving friends (◍´ꇴ`◍)♡♡ They were delighted♡♡♡

I hesitated between Tenpo financiers, but since Tenpo is not available for online purchase and above all it's "Kyoto exclusive"♡♡ I bought it without hesitation (๑>◡<๑)♡ There were several groups waiting at the register. It's a popular shop, isn't it ( ♥︎ᴗ♥︎ )♡♡ Unfortunately, Isetan cannot accept Suica payments (´;ω;`)

BODYPIT KYOTO, Director Shinichi Fujisaki here. I received a birthday present. Tenpo! A super high-quality matcha financier! It seems like they only sell it in Kyoto. It was incredibly delicious. Thank you very much.

I received the "Matcha Financier" from "Henri Charpentier HANARE Tenpo", a Kyoto-exclusive brand from the renowned Henri Charpentier. The packaging exudes luxury, and with the name value, I had high expectations. It can last long and if it tastes good, I planned to use it as a gift in the future. However, personally, it was disappointing. The scent and taste of matcha were weak. The matcha clashed with the butter flavor, diminishing the qualities of both. At 224 yen per piece, even though it's small, I found it to be expensive. This is just my personal opinion, and I don't intend to limit it. Maybe it's because I have an unsophisticated palate and can't appreciate the delicate taste of matcha. I recommend trying it for yourself to see. For matcha sweets at Kyoto Station, I personally prefer Torise or Fujii.

I visited around 12:30 on a regular day. I came to buy a souvenir and was wandering around Isetan department store, wondering what to get. Oh? They have a store-limited matcha mille-feuille that was baked at 12:00. I asked the staff and they still had some left, so I decided to get that. Matcha mille-feuille (tax included 1404 yen), I forgot the official name of the product. It uses matcha called Tenpo. The photo was taken with the box opened but without removing the surrounding film. On top, there are chocolate leaves and flowers as decorations. The mille-feuille part is divided into four pieces, with matcha cream sandwiched between layers of pie crust. The chocolate melted instantly in my mouth. The mille-feuille part was a bit hard to eat as the pie crust crumbled easily. The matcha flavor was strong and delicious.

There was a suspicious luxury corner at Kyoto Isetan, where there were Financier cakes from Henri Charpentier in matcha flavor for 2,000 yen and 600 yen with tax. It seems to be a Kyoto limited edition. Unlike regular Financiers, these have a long shelf life and a moist matcha flavor.

It has been two weeks since I moved, and although I still have some time before the cardboard boxes are collected, I am feeling a bit unsettled. However, my biggest worry, my two tabby cats, are finally starting to settle back into their daily routine, which is a relief. So, I am thinking of slowly resuming my reviews. This one is about a shop that caught my eye on MyReby. Henri Charpentier-Hanare-Tenpo, which offers two types of sweets using Kyoto matcha. The original matcha "Tenpo" they use was selected by the highest-ranking tea master in Japan, Toh Genbei. The two sweets are matcha financiers and matcha cream sandwich cookies. I thought I had asked for both when I was at the store, but when I got home and opened the package, they were both financiers! The matcha financiers have a deep green color that is quite impressive. They have a moist texture. However, when compared to the matcha financiers sold by Fumon-an, "Kyoto France," in terms of price and taste, I prefer "Kyoto France." I also tried the Triangle Chocolate Sandwich from the newly established Kyoto Imperial Palace South Chocolate Research Institute in February. This one uses chocolate in both the pie crust and the cream inside, but the use of cinnamon in the dough and cream may be a Kyoto-like touch. As soon as you open the bag, you can smell the cinnamon. This may be a hit or miss depending on your taste. The number of infections continues to rise, and my daughter's work schedule has increased to about three times a week. However, I am trying to stay positive and think that maybe it's good for our current situation. I hope we can continue to take precautions against infection and move forward.

Henri Charpentier, a Western confectionery brand with its main store in Ashiya and many other branches, has launched a new store called Henri Charpentier-Hanare-Tenpo at Kyoto Isetan, offering sweets using a new Kyoto matcha. Hanare features original matcha "Tenpo" selected by Japan's top tea master, Tohgenbei, and sells matcha financiers (Tenpo) and matcha cream sandwich cookies (Tenpo). The matcha financiers come in sets of 3, 5, 10, or 15 pieces, while the matcha cream sandwich cookies come in sets of 6, 9, or 15 pieces. This review focuses on the 5-piece matcha financiers (\1,000 + tax) and the 6-piece matcha cream sandwich cookies (\900 + tax). The matcha financiers have a vibrant green color from the matcha, with a subtle matcha flavor. If you prefer a more pronounced matcha taste, you may enjoy the matcha cream sandwich cookies more. Both treats have a gentle and authentic matcha flavor, rather than an artificial one (you can sense the bitterness of the tea, but the focus is more on bringing out the umami of the matcha). While you can purchase the matcha financiers online, the matcha cream sandwich cookies are only available at Kyoto Isetan (though they may also be sold at Kyoto Takashimaya, this is unconfirmed). For a matcha sweets lover, I personally recommend the latter as a souvenir, but both options offer a unique touch of Japanese Henri.

In a corner of Kyoto Isetan, a new store called Henri Charpentier Hanare has opened on February 25th. They were selling matcha financiers made with Uji matcha "Tenpo" and matcha cream sandwich cookies. Both have a slightly astringent matcha flavor, typical of Kyoto. I think if you bring these as souvenirs, they will be well received!

This is Kyoto Isetan. I bought a stylish looking Uji matcha financier from Henri Charpentier called "Hanare". It's so fashionable~♪ The green color is intense. The matcha flavor is strong and delicious. They also have hojicha sweets.
