Romance Co., Ltd., which manages Kyoto Kitayama Okashi's Marl Blanch, is involved in the Wabiya business. Starting with Wabiya Koyureido on Hanami Koji, Kyoto Station's Wabiya Zanmai, and Sotomachi's Kushikatsu & Wine Wabiya Rakuchutei, among others. All of these are charming shops. Wabiya Rakuchutei is located right in the middle of Sanjo and Shijo in Sotomachi. Inside, there is a lovely space with a clean counter and tables made of white wood. It is a perfect space that boasts a marriage with wine. In the back, there is a floor standing on the river surface. On this day, there was a drinking party with only 10 men. Since it was still cool, we decided to enjoy the floor. We drank draft beer while looking out at the river, and the party began. The salad appetizer is made with fresh vegetables and meat miso, which has a good texture and makes you want to eat more. Soon, the kushikatsu course began. It starts with bragging about the live prawns swimming in the pond. Crispy and juicy. Plenty of sweetness. It's a cliché expression, but it's delicious. Black Wagyu beef and creative kushikatsu are famous, and kushikatsu is served one after another. I feel like I had over 15 skewers, but my stomach was full. I got pleasantly drunk with beer and sake. Apparently, if you don't say stop, they will serve you all 20 types of skewers with the omakase course. Be careful not to overeat. It is said to have a light coating, and indeed, despite eating a lot and feeling full, I didn't feel heavy. I also had pudding and was satisfied. Thank you for the meal.

The course meal was satisfying, with skewers as the main highlight. What impressed me even more was when I mentioned it was my wedding anniversary to the staff, they surprised us with a dessert that had a message in it. It's a restaurant that can show such wonderful consideration. I was truly delighted. Thank you very much!

The staff were friendly and joined in with our jokes, making the experience enjoyable. The skewers were all delicious. There were unique items like udon as well. We ordered a few individual items outside of the set course, which was just the right amount. I would like to try the hotpot next time!

The stay time was stated as 3.5 hours, but it was about 2 hours. There were two types of salt, sauce, and toppings such as curry flavor powder. We started with spring rolls, be careful of burns. The additional fresh fu was delicious. Finally, we had the choice of egg over rice or curry rice.

I didn't know this, but in Yamaoka, known for its Western sweets and matcha sweets, there is a store called Marublanche that is owned by the same parent company. In Marublanche's store, you can find powders for curry, umami, and ichimi. Yamaoka, 980 yen.

Venture down a path that even locals of Kyoto would feel the essence of Kyoto, and you will find the casual atmosphere of Rakuchu-tei. With a counter seating that can accommodate many, it is easy to enter even if you are alone, and the staff is mostly male. They welcomed me by adding a touch to the beer foam. The menu consists of courses only. If you feel like you need more, you can add skewers. Even though there were just two of us girls, we were satisfied without any additional orders! The shrimp had a firm texture and the beef was especially delicious. The mini burger made by sandwiching the beef mince was also packed with flavor. For the finishing touch, we could choose between egg rice and curry. It was enjoyable to see foreigners eating happily as well. This is a restaurant that can be used for a wide range of occasions. I would like to visit again soon.

I enjoyed a course of kushikatsu at a cool bed seating area. Even though it's still hot during the day at the end of September, the nights can get chilly, dropping below 20 degrees Celsius. They provide blankets to keep warm, which was nice. The lighting wasn't great for photos, but all the dishes were delicious. I appreciated that they asked about any food preferences or dislikes before serving the course.

Visited in July 2022. The weather was unusually hot, reaching around 37 degrees at the beginning of July, but the cool floor mats were comfortable with a pleasant breeze, making it a comfortable stay! The food was delicious. It was a satisfying course meal with a sense of dedication. The cost performance was good, and I would like to visit again. However, when it gets dark, they turn on the lights, which attracts a fair amount of bugs (this is unavoidable). There are quite a few bugs, so if you are not a fan, it's best to make a reservation during brighter hours! Not all photos are included, just a few. Great cost performance! You will leave with a full stomach.

A skewer restaurant in Pontocho ❤️ Located along the Kamo River with good access! I visited without a reservation on the day I went to Kyoto! I wasn't very hungry, so I only had a few skewers, but the prices were a bit high. There were many unique skewers, which was enjoyable, but the cost performance was not very good, which was disappointing.

There are many tempura shops in the area, but if you are looking for something more original and unique, I recommend this restaurant. It is located in Pontocho and also has a sister restaurant in Gion, known for its yakitori. I would like to visit the yakitori restaurant next time. During my visit, there were no floor seats available, so we sat at the counter. The crispy breadcrumbs in the first soup were a great combination. The spring rolls here had a unique flavor. The tempura on the sign was of course enjoyable. The fried eggplant served as a side to the mini burger was surprisingly good and paired well with drinks. The rice dish at the end was also delicious. I used to not like egg over rice, but I was very satisfied with the egg over rice here. I would like to visit again if I have the chance.

When I traveled to Kyoto on a whim, a friend recommended me this restaurant. I couldn't make a reservation due to scheduling conflicts, but I really wanted to go, so I extended my stay to visit. The staff's welcome was pleasant, and I was able to relax and enjoy myself even though I was alone. I decided to ask for the staff's recommendations and ordered while chatting with them. Honestly, everything was delicious, but the white asparagus and shrimp were especially good. I also enjoyed the drinks and felt that the prices were reasonable for the amount of enjoyment I had. I will definitely visit again when I go to Kyoto for leisure.

I enjoyed some stylish wine and creative deep-fried skewers at a trendy deep-fried skewer restaurant in Pontocho. Among the unique skewers, there is one called "kitsune udon" that I highly recommend trying. The oden was also delicious, the menu was fun, and the flavors were top-notch.

This is my second visit to a kushikatsu restaurant in Pontocho. The concept seems to be kushikatsu paired with wine, and the atmosphere is very stylish and chic! There were seats along the river, but it was too cold at this time of year so I sat at the counter. The photos show: 1. Angel shrimp 2. Black Wagyu lamp meat 3. Man'nenji pepper 4. Kombu-marinated saury 5. Edamame croquette 6. Kyoto pork 7. Kitsune udon 8. Ginkgo nuts and lily root 9. Lotus root 10. Mushroom and Bolognese spring roll. Everything was delicious, but I was surprised by the Kitsune udon! LOL

This place has been a great spot for enjoying delicious and affordable kushikatsu and drinks for a while now. It is affiliated with Chakyo Koryudo, a famous chicken cuisine restaurant in Gion. The kushikatsu was all very tasty and reasonably priced. It would have been even better if there were more options for closing dishes, as the only choice was ochazuke with oden broth.

At the end of summer in Pontocho, the streets of Kyoto are wonderful, with narrow alleyways where sleeves brush against each other. Here is where you can find it. A riverbed terrace overlooking the Kamogawa River. It's a must to eat here. Enjoy some elegant kushikatsu! However, there is no shime (finishing dish) menu! I wanted at least some ochazuke.

I chose the 12-course omakase menu. Each dish, including shrimp and scallops, was delicious. They even prepared a birthday plate for my boyfriend's birthday. The tempura and hospitality were both amazing. I would love to visit again when I come to Gion.

During my long-awaited trip to Kyoto, I visited Wabiya Rakuchutei. I managed to enjoy their special summer terrace until September 30th! I ordered a sampler platter and some individual items. I thought I ordered kitsune udon, but it turned out to be udon kushikatsu... What a surprise! The kushikatsu was served with three different sauces: red wine, dashi, and salt. The staff kindly explained which sauce goes best with each kushikatsu. It was incredibly delicious! I highly recommend trying their "umami potato" dish as well. The savory Japanese-style potatoes go perfectly with drinks! I definitely want to visit this fantastic kushikatsu restaurant again when I return to Kyoto!

I dined at a restaurant by the cool riverbed. I always think, riverbed dining isn't really that cool, right? The seats inside with the air conditioning are cooler, right? It's nice in the evening, but at night Kamogawa gets pitch black so you can't enjoy the view. You end up being attracted to the restaurant's lighting and small insects come flying in and land on your food. I wonder if it's worth paying extra for the seat just to eat there. Am I the only one who thinks this way, not being from Kyoto? Despite being in such a dilemma, I enjoyed the delicious food. The must-try dishes were the shrimp, Camembert cheese, udon tempura, fried octopus, and meat miso. If you come here, you have to try these dishes. I was surprised by the udon tempura - the noodles are crispy, wrapped in yuba with dashi and fried, so when you eat it, you'll be like, "Wait, is this udon?" The Camembert cheese is wrapped in seaweed with salmon roe on top, which surprisingly goes well together. The shrimp is fluffy and doesn't have the usual crunchy texture of fried shrimp, making you wonder, "Is this really shrimp? Why is it so fluffy?" The octopus is more like takoyaki than fried octopus, and it's delicious. And when you dip the fresh vegetables in the meat miso, you'll keep wanting more. I wish they would sell this meat miso because I want to eat it at home.

I wanted to go to a cool place and ended up here. I ordered the kushikatsu course. The course content was a bit confusing and the staff seemed to not fully understand the rules. The speed of serving each kushikatsu was slow, so I felt a bit bored. I also ordered an unusual addition of pickles with curry, which was a perfect taste for summer! Although all the kushikatsu in the course was delicious, the cost performance was not great. But considering the experience of the cool floor, the price might be justified.

It was a dinner party at night. I have been to Kamogawa River several times before, but it was my first time visiting this corner where many restaurants line up closely.
- Vegetable sticks and homemade meat miso: Cabbage, bell peppers, cucumbers, and pumpkins are dipped in special meat miso and eaten. The meat miso is delicious, and the raw cabbage keeps disappearing.
- Oden and homemade yuzu pepper: Oden simmered slowly in a flavorful broth is always delicious on a chilly night. The yuzu pepper, with a mild spiciness, has a subtle yuzu aroma and flavor.
- Various types of kushikatsu (I also had other items, but I forgot their names): Black wagyu beef, kogomi (bracken fern), Kyoto chicken breast, kitsune udon, shiitake mushrooms stuffed with duck meat, etc. The crispy coating on the kushikatsu is light and easy to eat.
- Pudding ice cream: A small size perfect for when you want a little bit of sweetness after a meal. Creative kushikatsu, stylish ambiance, and a location near the Kamogawa River in Kyoto... I had a delicious and enjoyable time. (Note: When the restaurant gets busy, the staff's response may slow down, but they will assist you properly if you remind them.) Thank you for the meal.
