I tried the seafood bowl which cost around 28,000 yen, including horsehair crab. I arrived on a Saturday at 12:15 and had to wait in line with 5 other groups. After about 30 minutes, I was seated. I ordered sashimi with hagfish, horse mackerel, and firefly squid. However, the service was slow and the staff couldn't answer my questions about the menu. I ended up canceling the sashimi and ordered a sashimi platter for 2-4 people and a small rice. The food was okay, but nothing exceptional. The only highlight was the fresh oysters which were delicious. The grilled clams were too salty. Overall, it's not worth waiting in line for this restaurant. I wish the staff were more knowledgeable about the menu.

When you come to Maizuru, you have to try the seafood, right? In summer, it's all about the giant rock oysters. I ordered the extra large rock oysters and they were huge, honestly surprising. They were fresh, creamy, and absolutely delicious. If you have the chance, definitely go try the rock oysters.

The portion of rice was not enough for me, so I had to order an extra serving. It's better to order a large portion from the start for better value. Some people were enjoying crab with their drinks, so be prepared to wait on weekends. Despite the wait, the food was delicious.

There is a Fisherman's Wharf nearby called "Toretore Center," which is managed by the local fisheries cooperative, but I chose to visit this restaurant instead of participating in that. As I glanced at the freshly caught fish displayed outside, I entered the dining area in the back. The menu includes sashimi set meals, rice bowls, and even eel for some reason. I ordered the weekday special sashimi set with five kinds of fish, which apparently varies depending on the day. Well, it's sashimi, so as long as it's not terrible, it's pretty delicious... It also comes with a soup packed with various ingredients. The interior of the restaurant is simple, so you can't linger for too long, and the service is modest, so it's best to leave soon after finishing your meal... The nearby Fisherman's Wharf is just a short walk away.

Easily got a table and ordered sashimi set for 1500 yen and grilled scallops for 350 yen. The portion of rice and fish head soup was a bit small, but the food was delicious.

I stopped by Ooroku Maru near the Toretore Center along the national highway in Maizuru on March 24, 2022. This place sells seafood, and you can also have a meal at the attached restaurant. I arrived in a few minutes and quickly ordered the following: - Seafood sashimi set meal (5 kinds) There are 5 and 8 kinds of sashimi sets available. The 5 kind set is only available on weekdays. You can also get a large serving of rice for an additional 50 yen. Since I'm getting older and can't eat as much, I opted for a regular serving. - Sashimi The contents vary depending on the season. This time, it included salmon, yellowtail, seared sawara (Spanish mackerel), squid, and ark shell. - Soup The soup included squid, raw seaweed, hagfish, and sliced sawara. It had a strong taste of the sea with a slightly unique flavor. - Rice There was quite a lot of rice, more than I needed. - Pickles The pickles included pickled daikon radish and napa cabbage, a standard type you can find in supermarkets. They were quite fresh and delicious. Overall, it was a delicious meal.

You can opt for a large serving of rice for an additional 50 yen. The restaurant has a seafood sales corner and a dining area, where you can enjoy fresh seafood like sashimi and grilled dishes. You can also choose to take out your food. For grilled squid, you need to choose the size at the seafood corner. They will also ask if you want the squid served whole or sliced. The grilling area is located outside the restaurant premises. The menu is displayed inside the restaurant, and there are no printed menus. The indoor air conditioning consists of two air conditioners, but it can still be cold in winter. The staff kindly turned on an electric heater to keep us warm. Thank you! Everything was fresh and delicious, and I finished it in no time. The children's rice bowl had salmon, salmon roe, and sweet shrimp, which made my child very happy. Unfortunately, the turban shell was out of season, so I couldn't try it, but I will look forward to it next season when I visit again.

We saw a sign that said "seafood!" and decided to go in. It was around 11:30 am and the place was not crowded, so we were seated right away. We ordered the seafood combo set with 8 different kinds of seafood. The food came out quickly and it was delicious. The fish was fresh and thick, with no fishy smell. We enjoyed every bite. The miso soup also had plenty of fish in it. By the time it was noon, more customers started to come in. It was a lucky find and we were happy to have dined at this wonderful restaurant.

In Tanba and Ayabe, many restaurants are closed on Wednesdays. I had to go all the way to Maizuru to finally have lunch at this restaurant. I had the seafood sashimi rice bowl set with 8 types of sashimi for 1500 yen including tax. It came with sweet shrimp, salmon, sawara (Spanish mackerel) back, sawara belly, squid, ikura (salmon roe), and 2 types of clams. It also included miso soup, pickles, and white rice. You can either mix all the sashimi on top of the rice to make a seafood bowl or eat the sashimi with the rice separately. If you go for the 1200 yen option, which is 300 yen cheaper, you'll feel like you're getting a great deal. The number of customers will surely increase by 3 times, no, maybe 5 times. This way, they can completely break away from the bad reputation of tourist spot prices.
