The menu may be limited, but the set with a large bottle has been a great deal that hasn't changed since the old days.

I visited a sushi restaurant located diagonally opposite the main gate of the Ohkubo Self-Defense Forces base (southeast). It's an old shop that has been around for quite some time. The entrance has a lot of character, and inside, there is an L-shaped counter with 10 seats, creating a cozy atmosphere. I decided to start with a set menu called "Tokutoku Set" for 1,500 yen, which included alcohol options. I chose beer, and they brought out a large bottle of Kirin Lager, which was a pleasant surprise. The set included four types of sashimi (tuna, squid, yellowtail, amberjack), sushi rolls (cucumber and rolled egg), and nigiri sushi (tuna, squid, shrimp). The quality of the fish was good, and the sushi had a nice balance of rice and toppings. Overall, it was a good value for a night of drinking, but I would like to try ordering individual dishes next time.

Visited on September 22, 2011. Visited with a senior colleague and their friend, who is a regular at this famous local sushi restaurant run by a stylish old man who has been behind the counter for 33 years, accompanied by his lovely partner. The restaurant is located just a 3-minute walk from Kintetsu Okubo Station. The atmosphere is classy, with a history-filled interior. The TV is a flat screen. We ordered the cost-effective 1500 yen set which included sashimi (tuna, scallop, sea bream), assorted sushi, and beer. The value for money is quite good. However, what I want to convey about this place is not just about the taste, location, or value for money. It's about something more... it's about life. When you think of sushi, you think of conveyor belt sushi, and when you think of izakaya, you think of Watami... But here, you have a witty old man and a charming landlady watching a period drama on TV, completely engrossed. Even when we placed our order, they were focused on the TV. Their banter and anecdotes add to our conversations. It's like they remind us of something important we've forgotten. Finally, the old man says, "Come back often, customers!" and the landlady laughs. Let's go back again when we're feeling worn out by something.
