チリペッパ~
Located along the Yamate main line in Matsuiyamate, this restaurant is surrounded by Costco, home centers, and various other shops. Despite passing by the front of the store many times, I had never visited before. However, I had the chance to visit for lunch this time. I arrived around 12:15 on a weekday and found about 10 parking spaces arranged in an L-shape along two sides of the store. The interior of the store was spacious and stylish. I remembered seeing this restaurant on Yomiuri TV's "Saturdays are No Good" about a year ago. There was a sign and a program sticker from the show near the register. Apparently, they visited during a shoot at a nearby home center.
After being seated, I looked at the menu and was impressed by the wide variety of options, including traditional noodle dishes, rice bowls, and creative noodle dishes. They also offered set meals and hot pot dishes. I noticed they had a weekday lunch special, with Wednesday's special being a pork cutlet rice bowl for 1140 yen (100 yen cheaper than usual). I was tempted by the pork cutlet rice bowl, but ultimately decided to order the pork cutlet bowl for 1180 yen, expecting a larger portion of rice. The bowl came with a choice of small side noodle dish, and I chose warm udon.
As I waited, more customers arrived, and the restaurant quickly filled up. It seemed like most of the customers were regulars from the neighborhood, with a slightly older demographic. When the meal arrived, I was surprised to see the unique cone-shaped bowl for the pork cutlet bowl. The pork cutlet was crispy, thick, and satisfying, although I wished the meat was a bit more tender. The egg was soft and flavorful, and the seasoning was just right. The udon noodles were thick and had a good chewy texture, with a strong and refreshing broth.
After finishing the meal and feeling satisfied, I observed the other customers, including older individuals, enjoying their meals. The overall atmosphere was pleasant, with a slightly higher price point that seemed justified by the quality of the food and the ambiance. I left feeling full and content, already thinking about what I would try on my next visit, such as the curry udon or the braised pork belly tempura rice bowl. The attentive service from the staff in traditional Japanese attire added to the positive experience. Thank you for the meal.
