Even for locals in Kyoto or those who dine in Gion, this place can be hard to find. If you've been to Szechuan Chinese, Enraibo, Sushi Matsumoto, Matsudaya, or Rib Roast Rikichan, you'll know it's a bit hidden. It's located on the left side of the street. They have two types of gyoza: sesame and five-flavor. It's a shame they don't offer a combination of one of each.

I love Oinari-san so I couldn't resist purchasing it. I'm used to Kanto-style inari sushi, so I was impressed by the strong fox flavor. The staff mentioned that the company had just opened last year. If you don't mind, I'd like to support them. It was really delicious.

I had some time before my lunch reservation, so I decided to take a stroll in Gion. I found a specialty shop that sells my favorite "oinari-san" (fried tofu pockets filled with seasoned rice). They had three varieties: plain, mixed, and sesame. I bought the plain and sesame ones, each with two pieces. The oinari were small and delicious, with high-quality fried tofu from Sagano in Kyoto and a gentle sweetness from the special broth. The sesame variety had a mix of sesame flavors and textures, which I really enjoyed. I quickly finished all four pieces because they were so tasty. Thank you for the delicious meal!

On this day, I decided to buy some inari sushi for dinner after returning home. When I opened the door, I found that the space inside the shop was not very large. In front of me, on top of the showcase, were inari sushi already wrapped and lined up. They offer two types of inari sushi here: dashi inari and sesame inari. Since my daughter doesn't like sesame, I ordered two pieces of "Kyoto Dashi Inari with Sesame" for 540 yen including tax, and 6 pieces of "Dashi Inari" for 1490 yen including tax. When I visited this shop, some customers were already holding a few souvenir bags, and the staff kindly offered to consolidate them into a large paper bag, which turned out to be a bag for "otabe." I must have looked puzzled, so the staff explained that this shop is a place where the popular tofu shop "Saga Tofu Morika" started selling inari sushi. The fried tofu used in their inari sushi is from this Kyoto shop. The broth is made from Hokkaido-produced kombu, mackerel, and sardine, with bonito flakes added for flavor. The inari sushi, soaked in plenty of broth, has a slightly less sweet taste compared to the ones in Kanto region, and it is delicious that you'll want another one. While the sesame inari is also tasty with a nice fragrance, if asked which one is preferred, our family leans towards the dashi inari. The size is just right, a bit small, making it a good snack too. I will definitely visit again. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal!

This is a shop located about 150m southeast of Gion Shijo Station on the Keihan Line. I stopped by on my way back from lunch on a Saturday. Originally, I had planned to visit this shop, but the master of the previous restaurant recommended their inari sushi, saying it was delicious and you could almost drown in the broth, so I decided to try it. The shop opened here in July last year. They use Kyoto dashi broth for their inari sushi, unlike the dry or oily ones I usually encounter. I bought two pieces, one with sesame seeds and one with assorted ingredients, as my children don't eat them. The Kyoto dashi inari sushi had a gentle broth flavor that seeped out nicely, not a strong "dashi" taste, but more like the essence of the broth infused into the dish. The assorted one didn't have a strong taste of carrots or burdock, but it was still delicious. The sesame seed inari sushi had a strong sesame aroma and was more flavorful in my opinion. The size is not large, about 10cm in length. The price for two pieces is not cheap, but the taste is worth it.

In a small Inari shrine shop in the back streets of Gion, I discovered that it was actually the main branch of the Inari Sushi shop at Itami Airport. I had eaten there before and it was delicious, so I was impressed once again. They only sell two types of Inari sushi: regular and sesame. I bought a pack of two and enjoyed them at the hotel. The photo may not do it justice, but despite their small size, they are surprisingly filled with rice. As a local from Hokkaido, I am familiar with Inari sushi, but this one is a bit different. It is triangular in shape and not too sweet, with thinly simmered fried tofu and mildly seasoned vinegared rice. Unlike the Inari sushi in other places that have myoga, this one does not. Perhaps it's a seasonal thing? In any case, it is quite different from the Inari sushi with sazae in Hokkaido. I personally prefer the sesame-flavored one as it adds a nice touch. Although it is lightly seasoned, the flavor is well infused and very delicious. It would make a great souvenir that anyone would appreciate.

I bought the Kyoto-style dashi inari sushi with 4 pieces for 993 yen! Produced and sold by the company MiJu, which specializes in Kyoto confectionery "Tsubuan-filled nama-yatsuhashi 'Otabe'", this inari sushi uses deep-fried tofu from the well-established tofu shop "Saga Tofu Morika" in Kyoto, with plenty of Kyoto dashi broth soaked in. The thick and soft deep-fried tofu, soaked in rich dashi broth, melts in your mouth, and the vinegar rice inside is mild and elegantly flavored with a restrained sweetness. Truly exquisite taste.

There are two types of Inari sushi available: sesame and assorted. They are sold in packs of 2, 4, and 6. The Kyoto-style broth Inari sushi, as the name suggests, has a strong broth flavor, is not too sweet, and is very delicious. The size is small and easy to eat.

I stumbled upon a small Inari sushi shop that is part of the Otabe chain known for its Yatsuhashi. It seems to be only for takeout. The rice has a Kyoto-style flavor with plenty of sesame paste mixed in and the vinegar is also mild. However, I must admit that as a Kanto person, I am used to the sweet and juicy fried tofu of that Inari sushi shop, so I couldn't help but feel that it lacked sweetness.

I stumbled upon this inari sushi shop while wandering around after visiting Kennin-ji Temple with someone special. The shop, called Oinari-san, caught my eye with its beautiful presentation. The inari sushi was a good size and looked very appetizing. Eating one made me want to have another one. The shop is small and specializes in takeout, so I imagine taking the packs home to enjoy. Even when cold, they still taste good after a quick reheat. The slight crunch of the ingredients is also very satisfying. I'll definitely be coming back here again!

In December 2022, I went to Kyoto for dining out. I had plenty of time before dinner, so I decided to explore the Gion area. I checked out "Kyoto Dashi Oinari Tsurugitsune," which I had previously visited for breakfast at the Itami Airport branch. I found out that this was the main store. The main store only offers takeout, and they have two types of Kyoto Dashi Oinari: Gomoku (five ingredients) and sesame. Even though it's Oinari, they use deep-fried tofu from the long-established tofu shop in Kyoto, "Saga Tofu Morika," and carefully prepared first-class dashi broth. This time, I bought the sesame one. I brought it home and had it as a late-night snack. The Oinari was soaked in delicious dashi broth. The deep-fried tofu contained special cultivation rice Koshihikari, ground sesame seeds, black sesame seeds, and white ground sesame seeds, and it was all delicious. The sweet deep-fried tofu was particularly impressive. Thank you for the meal!

I had a light snack with "zenzai" and "Kyoto nama-fu" before heading to the black-haired Wagyu beef sirloin specialty store "Rikichan Gion store" for my 5 pm reservation. Arriving 10 minutes early, I wandered around looking for a light meal for later in Osaka. I stumbled upon "Kyoto Dashi Oinari Tsuri Kitsune" in a narrow street in Gion. I had tried their "Kyoto Dashi Oinari" before at Itami Airport, so this time I got the Kyoto Dashi Oinari Gomoku with 2 pieces for 497 yen. The Oinari is made with Kyoto-grown Koshihikari rice cooked with dashi and vinegar, wrapped in fried tofu from the famous Kyoto tofu shop "Saga Tofu Morika." The Gomoku variety has a simple taste with carrots, burdock, and black sesame mixed into the rice. The dashi flavor was delicious, and I quickly finished both pieces. Now it's time for some "yakiniku" in Gion! Enjoy your meal!

I happened to come across an inari sushi shop♪ They claim to use Kyoto dashi, so I thought it might be quite delicious (^^) and decided to stop by♪ When I opened the box at home, I found the inari sushi to be quite small (^^) It's small, I thought, as I took a bite (^^) The dashi flavor is strong, with a light and elegant taste (๑˃̵ᴗ˂̵) I wish I could have this kind of inari sushi every day! Among so many overly sweet options out there, this is truly a delicious inari sushi (๑˃̵ᴗ˂̵) I wonder why this flavor isn't popular nationwide (^^) This is definitely a must-try item! Thank you for the meal (๑˃̵ᴗ˂̵)

"Dashi Inari Umeboku" ... a popular restaurant in Fukuoka known for its dashi inari sushi. I have had it once before and the dashi was incredibly delicious. "Tsuri Kitsune-san" ... I heard that this is a specialty store for dashi inari sushi, so I had high expectations for my first visit. Fukuoka or Kyoto, where can you find the most delicious dashi inari sushi? - Purchased item: Kyoto-style dashi inari sushi - Satisfaction with the item: Hmm, felt a bit lacking - Cleanliness of the store: It's a new store, so there's no stress about cleanliness - Convenience of parking: Used a coin parking lot in a distant location - Price appeal: Couldn't quite see the value - Likelihood of revisiting: Probably won't visit again - Recommendation rating (out of 5 stars): ★★ - Flavors available: Gomoku (five ingredients) and sesame. Gomoku was sold out when we went, so it's better to go early. I heard you can make a reservation by phone, as they might sell out by early evening. Those who must buy it should consider making a reservation. Taste is subjective, but personally, I prefer the Fukuoka style. To be honest, I had high expectations, which may have been too much. The price of 270 yen per piece may seem high or low, it's up for debate. By the way, Umeboku's is even more expensive, but I thought it was worth buying and eating. It might be interesting to try comparing different places.

The juiciness of the dashi doesn't come through as much as you'd expect from the reviews. It's tasty, but doesn't quite justify the price. More like a tanuki than a fox.✼••┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈••✼Kyoto Dashi Inari (4 pieces) 994 yen Kyoto Dashi Inari (sesame) (4 pieces) 1,080 yen

Last month, I bought some Kyoto-style dashi inari sushi at "Tsuri Kitsune" at Itami Airport and loved it, so I decided to visit the main store. It is located on a quiet street south of Shijo Street, away from the hustle and bustle, with a charming traditional townhouse exterior and the distinctive Tsuri Kitsune logo on the curtain. I purchased two pieces of Kyoto dashi inari sushi for 497 yen. There were two options: "gomoku" (mixed ingredients) and sesame, and I chose gomoku for its strong sesame flavor. The inari sushi features deep-fried tofu from Saga Tofu Morika soaked in rich dashi broth. The moment you bite into it, you can fully enjoy the umami and aroma of the dashi. I became a fan of this juicy inari sushi. It pairs perfectly with sushi rice, creating an exquisite harmony.

After enjoying lunch, I did a little shopping. Since I was full, I decided to take a stroll around. I found a small inari sushi shop recommended by a friend. The shop seemed to only offer takeout. There were two types of inari sushi available: Kyoto dashi inari (2 pieces for 497 yen) and sesame inari. The Kyoto dashi inari had a subtle and elegant flavor, with a gentle taste of dashi spreading in the mouth. The sweetness and vinegar were mild, making it easy to eat. The inari sushi was quite small in size, so it may seem a bit pricey. However, it would make a perfect little gift. The other type was sesame inari. The shop seemed to be managed by the company "Otabe." The staff provided polite and cheerful service. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal!

In this current situation, it's not easy to casually visit this area, but I had the opportunity to go on a day when it seemed empty. I realized it was close to Zen Cafe after I arrived. I tried the Kyoto dashi inari sushi here for the first time, using Mori Yoshika's dashi, and my expectations were raised. The dashi flavor is amazing. The fried tofu and sushi rice play supporting roles, with the dashi taking the spotlight. It seems to be asserting itself. I wanted to emphasize the "na" in "Kyoto-style," but I don't know the exact definition. However, the color and size were familiar and comforting. The vinegar was mild, and the size was easy to eat and enjoyable. For tourists, the taste might seem bland or the size small. The price is somewhat high, but the elegant packaging and shopper make it suitable for gifts. It's run by Mitoku, famous for its otabe.
