I ordered the "Jougiri Set" and all the sushi pieces were of high quality and wonderful. Especially, the scallop was incredibly delicious. I also ordered additional eel and mackerel, both of which were also very tasty. The chef was friendly and we enjoyed our meal. It would be appreciated if the sushi pieces were a bit bigger.

The sushi restaurant has a traditional feel to it. There are quite a few seats, but the full counter setup allows for a great sense of presence. It seems like a casual and welcoming place! What surprised me the most was the high cost performance of this restaurant! Even the most expensive dish, the shrimp, was a bit pricey, but considering the quality, I wondered if they were making a profit. The shrimp had a great texture and sweetness, and was worth the price (I think it was around 800 yen). Everything was delicious, but I was particularly amazed by the turban shell! It was not the quality you would expect for 220 yen. For those who love shellfish, I highly recommend going just for this dish. If I ever go back to Kyoto, I definitely want to visit this restaurant again, so I hope it doesn't get too popular!笑

Assorted sashimi platter (amberjack, tuna, salmon) for 1320 yen, appetizer with crab miso soup for 990 yen, grilled salmon belly for 880 yen. Nigiri sushi: mackerel for 220 yen, yellowtail belly for 330 yen, striped jack for 330 yen, clam for 495 yen, horse mackerel for 275 yen, "Gold-chan" (fatty tuna and yam) for 275 yen, ark shell for 550 yen. All the fish were fresh and exceeded expectations, especially the clam was delicious. The quality of the sushi is worth more than the price. Many foreign customers frequent this place.

On a Sunday afternoon, I felt like having some sushi quickly. I visited this place after a long time, and the mysterious words on the bill are still there, haha. It's a sushi place where you can casually drop by, have a drink, and feel satisfied both mentally and physically. Be careful with the "name roe" because it goes down smoothly and you might end up drinking a lot!

♡[Kinbei Sushi] ♡ Kyoto ❤︎ Located in Sanjo ♡ The long-established Edo-style sushi restaurant "Kinbei Sushi" in the Rokkaku-dori area of Kyoto is a popular sushi restaurant loved by locals and tourists alike. When you hear about a traditional sushi restaurant in Kyoto, you might hesitate to enter, but with prices starting at 50 yen per piece, this place is affordable and delicious for everyday dining. The spacious interior has a large U-shaped counter seat area. They are open from 4:00 pm on weekdays and from 12:00 pm on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, serving lunch as well. You can hear the lively voices of the chefs from inside, but the atmosphere is cozy and you can enjoy delicious sushi in a relaxed setting. The prices for nigiri are clearly displayed for transparent billing. The pieces are large and satisfying, with small, lightly sweetened shari rice that makes you feel like you could eat as much as you want. A must-try is the fatty tuna, which melts in your mouth just by looking at it. When you put it in your mouth, it melts without even chewing, showcasing its deliciousness. The sticky and sweet salmon, the large and plump anago eel with a crunchy texture, the rich uni sea urchin, and the original "Kin-chan" with the contrast in texture between crispy yamaimo mountain yam and melty toro are all enjoyable. The gunkan-style sushi with sticky and sweet squid and the slightly fatty and sweet hamachi yellowtail are all delicious. The chefs prepare the sushi right in front of you, and the transparent billing makes it affordable. With its convenient location, this is a sushi restaurant that you can easily enjoy. ♡

I was wandering around Kawaramachi looking for a place to drink, and I came across a sushi restaurant with a nice atmosphere. Luckily, I was able to get in without waiting, but it seemed like they didn't take reservations as there were quite a few people waiting. I ordered a bottle of beer and a sashimi platter to start. The nigiri sushi included horse mackerel, amberjack, squid, mackerel, marinated tuna, and conger eel. The sushi chef skillfully prepared each piece, making it both enjoyable to watch and delicious to eat. I also added some hot sake and enjoyed a leisurely drink. To finish off, I had some chawanmushi, which was a comforting dish with a gentle dashi flavor that warmed me from the inside. It's no wonder this place has many regular customers. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

Sushi at Shijo Kawaramachi - Sushi prepared by the chef at Kanbei Sushi, located about 5 minutes from Kyoto's Kawaramachi. It was past lunchtime and we decided to enjoy some day drinking, around 3pm. We found a quiet restaurant and decided to go in. The interior had a familiar, seasoned feel, and the menu was very reasonably priced, making it easy to enjoy even for a casual drink. We snacked lightly to pass the time until evening, and the menu was very tasteful, making the drinks go down smoothly. Overall, the average customer spending was around 3000 yen, seating was at the counter, and the nearest station was Kawaramachi. Thank you for the meal!

This is a sushi restaurant located on a back street off Sanjo Kawaramachi. It is a quaint sushi restaurant that has remained unchanged for many years. I used to visit this place with my friends when I was a student, holding tightly to my part-time job earnings. Each piece of sushi is carefully prepared and the prices start from around 100 yen, clearly displayed. It was a comforting place for a broke student like me to sit at the counter. I have fond memories of the luxury of having the sushi chef prepare each piece right in front of me. This time, I revisited after a long time. As I entered through the sliding door, the elderly female owner greeted me at the counter. The abacus still seems to be in use. I started with a draft beer, followed by bonito sashimi and assorted sashimi. The bonito was tender with a rich fatty texture, paired perfectly with plenty of minced garlic. It was delicious. The pace quickly picked up. After enjoying some sashimi with hot sake, I moved on to the sushi. I tried the recommended items and found that the seasoned fish and closing dishes were particularly flavorful. The reasonable prices caught my attention, but I realized that this restaurant truly shines with its quality work. I was impressed with myself for finding such a place as a broke student. Finally, I observed the skilled abacus handling by the elderly owner and thanked her for the meal. I wonder when I will be able to visit again.

In a Showa-style sushi restaurant near Sanjo with a large counter seating 43, I had a great time thanks to the friendly chef. The menu prices were clear, and I ordered a sashimi platter (Sanjo) for 900 yen, 2 pieces of anago for 200 yen each, 2 pieces of squid for 180 yen each, shrimp for 200 yen, Kinbei roll for 800 yen, and 2 Kirin Ichiban Shibori draft beers for 500 yen each. The sushi had a nice balance and wasn't overly sweet like Kansai-style sushi.

A sushi restaurant with great value for money. Sushi pairs well with Japanese sake. It's nice that you can order one piece at a time.

I have been living in Kyoto for 20 years, and the presence of foreign tourists is significant. However, the sushi at this restaurant, which seems to cater only to foreigners, lacks the true taste of the fish. It's really true, whether it's shellfish or white fish, it was disappointing.

I have been going to Kinbei-san since I was a child. The prices are high, but the food is delicious and the traditional atmosphere is very Kyoto-like. I often order the red miso soup and chawanmushi. The cucumber dish is also delicious! The way it is cut is lovely, and I highly recommend it to everyone!

A sushi restaurant near Sanjo Kawaramachi with a casual atmosphere. The interior has a large counter seating in a U-shape. The nigiri menu ranges from 80 yen (squid, octopus, egg, mackerel) to 600 yen (fatty tuna) and 800 yen (eel). We tried mackerel, salmon, eel, mackerel, horse mackerel, marinated mackerel, etc. The sushi pieces are small but the taste is quite good. The prices are reasonable and it's a nice place to enjoy sushi casually. It seems to be popular among foreign tourists as well.

Appetizer of horse mackerel sashimi. Delicious. Smoked mackerel for closing. Five bottles of beer. Everyone has their own preferences when it comes to sushi restaurants, but I love this restaurant called Kinbei! Their egg, horse mackerel, mackerel, sea bream, crab miso, and marinated tuna are all delicious. This sushi restaurant, with its unpretentious atmosphere, has been a favorite of mine for a long time. Even when English-speaking tourists visit, the staff confidently provide service without hesitation. I believe that tourist cities like Kyoto are built on such efforts and actions.

A little west of the Loft in Kawaramachi Rokkaku, you'll find this place easily. This is an old sushi restaurant where sushi and sashimi are served directly at the counter. Not recommended for those concerned about hygiene. But if you don't mind, you'll feel like you're really at a sushi restaurant. The interior has a counter in the shape of a "く" so it may not be suitable for large groups. But if sitting side by side is okay for you, then it's fine for a large group. The average age of the chefs at the counter is on the higher side. You'll need to order with a loud, clear voice. The prices are not too high, so it's a good place to stop by when you're hungry.
