Today I had to work in Kameoka! I didn't have time to think too much about where to have lunch, so I decided to come here. There is a sense of security that comes with a chain restaurant. I chose the Kalbi grilled meat set meal! (tax included 660 yen) One of the good things about this place is that the salad is quite large. I am not living alone now, so I am eating relatively decent meals, but when I was living alone, I tended to lack vegetables, so when I come here, I often choose set meals instead of beef bowls. The Kalbi grilled meat set meal comes with grated daikon radish, salad, and miso soup as a bonus. The Kalbi grilled meat is thinly sliced but well-seasoned and there is a decent amount, so you can enjoy it. The salad is also a sufficient amount and satisfying to eat! I alternated between eating rice and Kalbi grilled meat... Hmm, I'm full now. Thank you for the meal!

Matsuya is a chain restaurant found all over Japan, but I had never really been inside one before. I love Matsunoya, which is a related chain, so I thought Matsuya would be good too and decided to give it a try. It was lunchtime, so I ordered the beef yakiniku set meal with a double serving. While waiting for my food to arrive, I looked up the restaurant online. The "double" meant that the meat portion was doubled, and the rice was supposed to be a larger portion for free, but my rice came out in a regular size. However, it turned out that you could get free refills on rice at this restaurant, so maybe that's why. When I asked for a refill, they asked, "Would you like a larger portion?" Why didn't they ask that in the first place? The meat was supposed to be double the amount, but was it really? Regardless, it wasn't very tasty. If it had been delicious, I would have gladly gotten another refill, but for 950 yen, it was all quite disappointing.

I decided to have breakfast at Matsuya. Instead of the morning set, I ordered a mini-sized gyudon (beef bowl). It was my first time trying the mini size, but it was just the right amount for breakfast. Since it's Matsuya, miso soup was also included, making it a satisfying breakfast. I'll probably have gyudon again the next time I visit Matsuya in the morning. Highly recommended.

From Zengoin Temple to Anata Temple on the 20th stop of the Saigoku 33 Pilgrimage, while driving on Route 9, I came across Matsuya, a chain restaurant specializing in beef bowl dishes. What stands out the most about Matsuya is how fast, cheap, and high in calories their dishes are. It was my first time at this type of restaurant, where you purchase meal tickets from a vending machine. I was unsure of what to order, so I ended up getting the "Yaki Gyudon (grilled beef bowl) large size" for 480 yen and the "Oshinko set" for 120 yen. The Yaki Gyudon was made with fatty imported beef belly meat stir-fried with doubanjiang, giving it a slightly spicy flavor. The large size Yaki Gyudon has 1136 kcal, while the Oshinko set has 95 kcal, making it a quick and calorie-efficient choice.
