I used this place for the first time! I have visited Kyoto many times, but this place was the best. The taste and cost performance are unbelievable. I was beyond satisfied and want to go back soon. I even thought about going just for this place. Please note that reservations are required!

I visited in search of a place for a late dinner. They offer a variety of classic side dishes and daily recommendations. I couldn't find any menu items that would make me feel full, which gives the impression that it is popular among health-conscious women. The staff, as well as the menu, seemed to cater to a younger crowd, but the dishes themselves appealed to older customers as well.

I heard it was a popular restaurant, but I was able to make a reservation by calling the day before - so happy! It was my first time trying obanzai, and it was really delicious. They adjusted the portion size for me and provided warm service, so thank you very much. I came alone, so I sat at the counter. The staff and the person next to me, who also came alone, had a lively conversation, making it a wonderful night. I will definitely visit again when I come to Kyoto.

I went to a new Japanese izakaya for dinner and it was a great find. The staff was friendly and they even reserved a seat for me. I started with a draft beer and a platter of three appetizers - simmered taro and eggplant, spicy leek dish, and chicken wings with sweet and spicy lotus root. The variety of small dishes was perfect for enjoying alone. The potato salad was surprisingly delicious, with a subtle flavor that I loved. The marinated herring and eggplant was also excellent, with a rich broth that complemented the dish well. I finished with a fluffy rolled omelette, expertly made by the chef. I look forward to returning in the spring to try more seasonal dishes.

I was looking for a restaurant with a tatami room to have a meal with my friend's child during the New Year, and I found this place here♪ It was a cozy and warm restaurant renovated from an old traditional house. The food was a bit slow to come out and sometimes forgotten... The sashimi was delicious though. However, maybe because it was during the New Year, even though the restaurant was not full, we were asked to leave right at the two-hour mark, which felt a bit strict. It would be better if they were more flexible in that regard.

During my two trips to Kyoto this year, I noticed more than double the number of visitors compared to this time last year, thanks to the revival of inbound tourism and support measures during the autumn foliage season. If you happen to make a late reservation, you might find it difficult to secure a dinner spot on the busy final Saturday of the foliage season. Luckily, I was able to book a late meal. I am looking forward to the obanzai dishes, which are reasonably priced and easy to eat compared to the surprisingly expensive restaurants in the area. The menu focuses on dishes that pair well with Japanese sake, and the servings are designed for sharing between two people. I was pleased that there were no appetizers forced on us, as I prefer not to pay for something I don't want to eat. Despite the restaurant being very busy on Saturday, we were informed of a two-hour time limit, but we didn't even stay for an hour as we quickly finished our drinks. I enjoyed the food and the affordable prices, making it a place I can confidently visit again in the future.

The customer service was very pleasant!! The dishes were all unique and visually appealing. It's a great place for a girls' night out or a couple's date♪ It might be a bit lacking for men though. It would be nice if they added more menu options for men. The meal included a platter of three appetizers, a platter of three sashimi, chilled tomatoes, potato salad, fried chicken, tempura corn, spicy onions, miso meat and kujo green onion rice balls, watermelon chu-hi, plum wine, and draft beer. It's been a while since I visited Kyoto. I had a delicious dinner at a reasonable price. I enjoyed dishes like simmered eggplant and herring, conger eel cuisine, and forgot to take a picture of the delicious dashimaki tamago. The other day I visited a restaurant that is part of the same Utuwa group as Kohaku-san. The interior and style of the dishes are similar, but the atmosphere can vary depending on the proprietress and the chef. It's enjoyable even if you go alone for the first time. They can make the dishes in half sizes and are flexible if you have any requests, which is a recommended point. The food is delicious, and the drinks are also good, so you can't go wrong. Personally, I really like this place and almost don't want to tell anyone about it... The dishes are all tasty, but the fried yam was exceptional. It came in a larger size than I expected, and you eat it with sansho pepper salt. It's delicious even without the salt. There are various Kyoto-style dishes on the menu, so it's understandable that tourists come here. I definitely want to visit again. Thank you for the meal!

The dining experience at this place was truly impressive. First, the interior of the restaurant. The warm wooden decor and soft lighting create a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The sight of the beautifully displayed obanzai dishes under the warm lighting makes your mouth water as soon as you walk in. Next, the customer service. The cold tofu with freshly squeezed white tofu was firm yet delicate, and the accompanying soy sauce added an extra depth of flavor. The fried horse mackerel was a standout dish with a light and crispy batter and a flavorful tartar sauce. The tempura of spring vegetables was fresh and crunchy, and the smoked duck with Sakura chips was tender and flavorful. A friend who lives in Kyoto took me to this restaurant. I revisited it after a long time during my Kyoto trip. It's about a 5-6 minute walk from Daimaru Kyoto. There are many similar streets in the area, so I got a little lost. I had made a reservation just in case. Upon entering the restaurant, you have to take off your shoes. To the left is the counter seating with a view of the kitchen, and further back are the table seats. I chose the counter seats to enjoy the live kitchen experience. We ordered three appetizers: potato salad, Kyoto leek tempura, and simmered kelp with daikon radish. We also had freshly squeezed white tofu, chilled and pounded tomatoes, beef tendon with daikon, dashi rolled omelette with raw yuba sauce, and raw wheat gluten with black honey and kinako. Honestly, every dish was delicious! You can't go wrong with anything you order. I especially loved the dashi rolled omelette with raw yuba sauce. The chewy texture of the rolled omelette combined with the rich flavor of the raw yuba sauce was my favorite. The staff cooking in the kitchen were very friendly and provided excellent service despite being busy. We also ordered sake and white wine, which paired perfectly with the delicious food. The cost performance is also great, so if I lived nearby, I would visit this favorite restaurant 2-3 times a month. I actually visited again a few weeks later, and the food was just as delicious. Everything was delicious. From a tourist's perspective, Kyoto has an overwhelming number of restaurants, so even when you find a delicious one, you often think, "That was delicious! Where should I go next?" and don't often revisit the same place. However, this restaurant was one that made me think, "I definitely want to come back again." It was unbelievably delicious, considering its rating on Tabelog. The flavors were well-balanced, offering both traditional dishes and innovative items. I had a very enjoyable time. I'm surprised to see such low ratings for this place, it's so delicious! I always visit when I go to Kyoto. The seasonal dishes are all tasty, but my favorite is the egg over rice topped with freshly shaved bonito flakes! It's my number one dish here. Not just the egg over rice, but all the other dishes are also amazing! The atmosphere of the restaurant is cozy and welcoming!

I wanted to have an izakaya dinner in Kyoto, so I made a reservation and when I arrived, I was seated at a low table on the second floor. As I am tall, sitting at the low table was uncomfortable for my back. I ordered a few dishes, including fried eggplant, potato salad, sashimi platter, and miso-marinated cream cheese. The fried eggplant was delicious. However, I didn't stay long and left early to go to the next place. Sorry about that.

After strolling in the Arashiyama area, I visited a popular restaurant for the first time, which required a reservation in advance. Even though I had contacted them beforehand, the restaurant was already full by 7:00 pm. The staff recommended a few dishes for me, including a sashimi platter with live sea bream, squid, thinly sliced flounder, striped jack, and yokowa. For the side dishes, I ordered dishes like chilled tomato with bonito flakes, potato salad, stir-fried long green pepper with dried young sardines, spinach and tofu with sesame dressing, and okara. I also tried their homemade thick fried tofu and fried chicken. To finish off the meal, I had their special dashi tea with kombu from Rishiri Island and a unique blend of bonito flakes. The restaurant, called "Uneno," is a well-established place where you can enjoy a cozy and relaxed dining experience.
