Concert at Rohm Theatre Kyoto and visited this restaurant for lunch nearby. When we entered around 11:00, there were no other customers and it seemed like they were still getting ready. Finally, the manager and one staff member came out. There were salad and side dishes on the counter, which were free to eat. The lunch special was the Hormone Bowl Ramen Set for 880 yen (tax included) and the Karaage Set for the same price. The ramen had a yellowish soup and the flavor was hard to distinguish. The noodles were pre-made curly noodles. The hormone in the bowl was average. The karaage came with two large pieces, crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside.

Next to the Heian Shrine, there is a place that sells ramen and curry bread called "Karako." It is a down-to-earth izakaya-style restaurant that may feel a bit intimidating for a solo female diner. I ordered the hamburger and ramen set for lunch. It came with a generous serving of salad and rice, which was already filling on its own. There were also pickles and cold tofu available as part of the "all-you-can-eat menu" right in front of me.

First, I ordered the signature dish of the restaurant, Tangko Ramen. The soup was very thick and had a unique flavor. Upon closer inspection, it seemed to contain miso, which made sense. The chashu was so delicious that it almost fell apart when picked up with chopsticks. Lastly, the thin noodles were delicious as they soaked up the soup. I plan to try the next time I visit the restaurant is the fried chicken set meal, which is also a popular menu item.

After visiting the Kyoto City Art Museum, I had lunch at a small restaurant where they sold various types of curry bread in a showcase outside. Inside the restaurant, there were about 7 counter seats and small table seats. I ordered the Tangsuyuk Ramen, which had a yellow soup (said to be Chinese pork bone soup) with thick slices of pork, bean sprouts, green onions, and seaweed as toppings. I also got additional vegetable toppings for free. They had a unique "eat-and-run menu" where you could enjoy dishes like cold tofu, simmered daikon, kimchi, and boiled eggs for free. The simmered daikon was particularly delicious. The set meal options were plentiful and reasonably priced, satisfying even those with hearty appetites. I decided to have a small portion of noodles as I planned to have curry bread afterwards. It cost 570 yen with a 100 yen discount. I chose the Beef Curry Bread, which had curry roux cooked into the curry-colored bread dough, giving it a crispy texture with a perfect balance of flavors. Eating the curry bread on the embankment of the Kamo River was a delightful experience. Thank you for the meal!

The fried chicken set meal for 900 yen is discounted to 820 yen on certain days, making it a good deal with a generous portion. The ramen seems to be curry flavored, but the curry taste is weak and has a strange flavor. The fried chicken is greasy and feels heavy, with the oil not being well-drained. Additionally, instead of the expected 2 pieces of fried chicken, there were 4 pieces, adding to the greasiness.

During my college days, I used to frequent a ramen shop located near Higashiyama-Nijo. Their specialty was the all-you-can-eat side dishes placed on the counter, and the large portion of fried chicken in the set. It filled up my young stomach. I hadn't visited for a long time, but due to COVID, they started offering takeout for curry bread as well.

Today's lunch special is the fried chicken set for 810 yen. It includes four pieces of fried chicken. There are also options like curry and hormone ramen available. You can enjoy complimentary side dishes like simmered daikon (or chicken) and pickled radish. The pickled radish surprised me with its yuzu fragrance. The fried chicken is well-seasoned with garlic, making it very tasty. The ramen is similar to Tenka Ippin style with seaweed in it. For 810 yen, this meal is a great deal. If this place is nearby, I might come back and risk gaining weight.

I visited this place in Kyoto for lunch. I arrived before 12:00 and the restaurant was already starting to fill up. I decided to order the curry ramen, although many people were enjoying the fried chicken set meal. The ramen arrived with a unique appearance - a yellow, slightly cloudy soup base topped with curry roux. The soup itself had a hint of curry flavor and was light and mellow. The curry had a fruity aroma and a gentle spiciness. The noodles were thick and had a satisfying chewy texture. The pork slices were very tender, and there were other toppings like seaweed and green onions. As I continued eating, the curry and soup blended together perfectly. I finished every last bit and enjoyed it. Next time, I would like to try one of their set meals for a more hearty meal.

Located close to Heian Shrine, this shop in an area known for its many ramen shops seems to have been in business for a long time. Upon entering the shop and sitting at the counter seats, I looked at the menu which offered a variety of ramen and set meals. As it was my first visit, I ordered the "Karako Ramen" (670 yen) which is named after the shop. On the counter, there were several side dishes available for free. The ramen arrived in a white bowl with nori, chopped green onions, wakame seaweed, bean sprouts, and chashu pork on top, with a yellow broth with visible pork fat floating on top. The soup had a rich and gentle taste, made from pork bones and vegetables, giving it a thick and flavorful yet mild flavor. Although the soup was yellow and rich, it was surprising to learn that it did not contain chicken oil. The noodles were straight and thin, with a firm and chewy texture that complemented the soup well. The rolled chashu pork belly was tender and flavorful, with a good seasoning. The simple ingredients such as wakame, bean sprouts, and nori paired well with the soup and noodles, making it a delicious meal. With reasonable prices for ramen and set meals, this shop is highly recommended for casual dining.

【Received】Karaage set meal (ramen, karaage, rice)【Notes】The karaage set meal comes with ridiculously large pieces of karaage! I went to eat with an empty stomach. When I ordered the karaage set meal, the owner seemed a bit surprised, maybe because I'm a petite woman. Inside the restaurant, there were various side dishes lined up like a buffet. They told me I could eat as much as I wanted! So I nibbled on some dishes until the karaage set meal arrived. They brought out the white rice first, which was helpful. Now, the ramen and karaage are finally here! I started with the ramen. Mmm, delicious. I had forgotten, but this is a ramen shop (lol). And now, the karaage. This is amazing!! The batter had a festival stall-like aroma. It was crispy and crunchy with every bite! The meat was flavorful and tender! I might just open a karaage shop myself. While I was eating, there was a guy who only bought the karaage to go. I get it. (lol) The owner said, "I cut the karaage into small pieces so you can take it home if you can't finish it." Kind. However, I finished it all. (lol) When it was time to pay, they seemed a bit surprised and asked, "Did you finish it?" They wanted the customers to eat to their heart's content, and that kindness made my heart full.

The name of the restaurant is Karako Ramen. There is a rumor that the soup is yellow, and it's true that the tonkotsu soup has a slightly yellowish hue. When you drink the soup, it's a bit milder than Hakata ramen. Maybe they put a lot of vegetables in it? There is also a slight spiciness, so it seems like powdered red pepper is added. The noodles are not very well separated, and some are clumped together, so I wish they had mixed them better when boiling.

I went for lunch on a regular day. There is a 100 yen garage next to the shop. Inside the shop, there were mostly customers sitting at the counter, but I managed to find a seat and ordered. I remembered seeing set meals on the menu, so I ordered the Tangsuyuk ramen with rice and three huge pieces of Tangsuyuk. There were also side dishes available for unlimited refills. It's a meal that will definitely fill you up. The ramen had a yellow, creamy soup with chewy noodles and crunchy Tangsuyuk. Even though I knew the Tangsuyuk was delicious with its crispy exterior and juicy interior, I couldn't finish all three pieces. But don't worry, you can take the leftover Tangsuyuk home in a pack. The set meal costs 880 yen.

I have been a customer since I was a student. The free side dishes lined up on the counter are delicious. The large karaage was so good that I took some home. They also started selling curry bread. I will definitely visit again when I pass by.

The fried chicken is crispy and large, comes in two pieces, and the rice is served in a small bowl. The texture is soft. The ramen has medium-thin noodles with pork, bean sprouts, seaweed, and nori toppings, providing a satisfying meal. The all-you-can-eat side dishes such as boiled eggs, cold tofu, and pickles offer great value for the price.

In Kyoto, you can't complain about this volume (ramen + two pieces of fried chicken + rice) for 790 yen! It's recommended when you want to eat a lot. The fried chicken is really big, haha.
