Today I used my Hot Pepper Points again, so I was able to eat at a discount. The daily special ramen today was called "Barmiski." It had a perfect balance of miso flavor, sourness, and spiciness, with a creamy texture from the soft-boiled egg. It was very delicious. The ramen had a generous amount of chicken and squid, making it very filling. The soup was really tasty, but unfortunately, I got some stains on my white clothes. That was a bit sad.

Hankyu Kawaramachi Station is a 2-minute walk from exit 1B, or a 5-minute walk from exit 5 of Keihan (where there is an escalator). As you ascend to the 7th floor in the slow elevator, you are greeted by a sculpture of a Balinese god. The entrance has a striking wooden carving, and once you pass through it, you are welcomed by the unique interior design that is common to all branches of the restaurant. The Kawaramachi branch offers a special atmosphere as you can overlook the city of Kyoto and the Kamogawa River from your seat. The staff will guide you to your table, and you can then browse through the menu. The staff may speak simple Japanese, but they are friendly and helpful. I always end up ordering a la carte because the menu is so extensive and tempting. The Mee Kage (fried noodles with sauce) is flavorful with a hint of spiciness, while the Chuchi (fried fish in coconut curry sauce) is rich and satisfying. Other dishes like Mutton, Tod Man Khun, and Satay are also delicious. The drinks and desserts are also worth trying. Overall, the restaurant offers a unique dining experience with its authentic flavors, generous portions, and friendly staff. However, if you are not a fan of spicy food, you may need to inquire about the level of spiciness when ordering.

The atmosphere of the Thai and Balinese restaurant really captures the essence of the local vibes. The menu offers a variety of dishes from classic ones like Tom Yum Goong and Nasi Goreng to more unique options with a lot of spicy flavors. It feels like a little trip abroad! This time, we paired these dishes with local beers, each with its own distinct taste, allowing us to enjoy a tropical vacation vibe. 😊

I had the weekly noodle lunch at the tropical cafeteria. This week's dish was Mietete (Balinese-style miso mixed noodles). The flavor lacked impact and was a bit disappointing. However, it was cheap and had a sufficient portion. Above all, the view was stunning, so I won't complain.

It is a Thai and Indonesian restaurant. There are so many menu options that it's hard to decide, but the green curry croquettes and Khao Soi with fried noodles are delicious. The Indonesian-style omelette was also tasty, and there are a wide variety of drinks available. It's recommended to go with a large group so you can try a variety of dishes.

I had a slightly luxurious lunch today to use up some points, costing 1600 yen. It included salad, curry, tom yum goong, various side dishes, rice, coffee, and dessert. The portions were too generous. Everything was spicy and really delicious. The salad was especially tasty. I couldn't get enough of each dish, they were so good. The dessert, a pumpkin coconut stew-like dish, was sweet and had a flavor I don't usually eat, which was really nice.

I came again today. I can use my Hot Pepper points, so I can eat almost for free. The best. Today's special ramen was called Mee Baso, a popular dish from Bali street stalls. It was a light and delicious ramen, with two large meatballs and plenty of vegetables. The sauce for flavoring was my favorite, sweet and spicy, and made the soup very tasty. I had four bowls. I was full and sweating from the spiciness. It was refreshing.

There were a variety of dishes and the cost performance was amazing. Some of the side dishes may be a bit strong in flavor for Japanese people, but it adds to the foreign atmosphere, which is great. The staff (possibly from Indonesia?) were friendly, and we had a great time. The view from the window overlooking Toho Kaikan, Nanzat and the Kamo River is amazing! Be sure to make a reservation for a window seat and check it out!

I always sit at the counter at my favorite tropical restaurant. I ordered the rice and fried chicken set with the daily noodles. The noodles of the day were called Tom Yum Nam Sai. It was a new type of noodles for me, but I loved the taste. The light soup had a sour and spicy flavor that I really enjoyed. It's hard to describe the taste, but I really liked it. The fried chicken was best with chili sauce, and it went well with the rice. All of this for less than 1000 yen is really great value.

An ethnic restaurant located in Shijo Kawaramachi. It's about a 1-minute walk from the east exit of Kawaramachi Station. However, it's on the 7th floor of a mixed-use building. You have to take a small elevator that can only fit about 4 people. The view from the restaurant on the 7th floor is great. The service is top-notch, with many foreign staff members who are very professional. The lunch menu changes daily, including options like green curry or red curry. On this day, it was red curry with chicken karaage, salad, curry, and rice for 990 yen. Despite the current circumstances, they haven't raised their prices, which is much appreciated. The chicken karaage with sweet chili sauce was delicious, reminiscent of festival food stalls. The red curry was similar to the one at the Takatsuki branch, with no noticeable differences. With great value for money, a convenient location, and tasty food, this restaurant is definitely worth a visit.

I revisited the tropical restaurant that I had been to many times before. I ordered the Som Tam salad, which is a green papaya salad and very spicy. The Thai omelette was extremely salty, unlike the sweeter ones I have had at other Thai restaurants. The satay, chicken skewers with peanut sauce, was delicious. The green curry with shrimp had a mild curry flavor and lacked richness. The lychee ice cream was tasty with lots of fruit. Overall, I was disappointed with the Thai omelette and green curry. It seems like the flavors have changed. I don't plan on visiting again.

After watching the tropical food court kabuki at Minami-za, we came here. The contrast between our cultures is quite interesting and enjoyable. The view might be good, or maybe it's the potential of the location here (although the glass wire mesh is a shame). There are lunch options, but the menu is somewhat dysfunctional in a way, but for now, I want to conquer all the menu items with a sense of determination. It's chaotic at the tropical food court, which we visited as a side trip to Gion.

Located in the best spot in Shijo Kawaramachi, with a nice view of Higashiyama from the 7th floor. I stumbled upon this place by chance while passing by. It offers Thai and Balinese cuisine, and it turned out to be a well-known restaurant also found in Takatsuki. I was happy to see they have opened a branch in Kyoto too. The menu was extensive, making it hard to choose, but I ended up satisfied with the lunch set for ¥1100. My friend ordered the noodle lunch set with karaage for around ¥1200. The colorful plates that arrived quickly raised our expectations. It was my first time trying Balinese cuisine, and I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious it was. My friend also loved it and said we found a great restaurant. With so many options on the menu, I will definitely be coming back.

On Sunday afternoon, I made a reservation and ordered a seat for 1000 yen and a set for 1500 yen. The portions were quite generous. The Tom Yum Goong was authentic, sour, and spicy. The curry was delicious. The salad was tasty. The grilled chicken was sweet and savory, very authentic. This is my third visit to restaurants in Hirakata and Takatsuki.

It was a good decision to go according to the lunch opening time. The place was already full by around 12 o'clock with customers coming in one after another. I recommend going early next time. There were various noodle and rice dishes as well as daily lunch sets available, but I really wanted to try Pad Thai so I ordered it as a single item. My companion ordered a plate lunch with a mysterious name, which was like a pork sauté dish in Japan. We added jasmine tea and dessert for an additional 100 yen. The Pad Thai was really delicious, with chewy rice noodles and a good combination of nuts and vegetables. I wished there was a bit more fish sauce on it. Despite being a one-plate dish, it was quite filling. The mysterious plate had pork sauté and tempura, which went really well with rice! It's perfect for when you want a hearty lunch. The rice was Thai rice, of course. For dessert, we had steamed pumpkin with condensed milk sauce, which was like a pumpkin stew. The combination of pumpkin and condensed milk was surprisingly good. It lived up to the hype as a Thai restaurant, with good taste and portion size. I would like to go back to try a different rice dish next time.

This is my second visit. When it comes to Indonesian and Thai cuisine in Kyoto, this place is the best! The location is great, the atmosphere inside the restaurant is wonderful, and it's a popular spot in Kyoto. Today, I had:
- Som Tam Salad: Extremely spicy with a lot of green papaya, great value for the price.
- Pork Minced Omelette: Lots of white onions and minced pork. I wanted the coriander omelette but unfortunately, it was sold out.
- Satay: One pork skewer and two chicken skewers. The sweet peanut sauce goes best with the chicken, which was juicy and tender.
- Pad Thai: I ordered it with extra sugar for a sweeter taste, and it came out just as I wanted. It was satisfying with a rich flavor and a generous portion.
The cost performance is great, and the quantity and taste are excellent. The menu is so extensive that it takes time to choose. I'm dining alone, so I can't order everything I want, but I will definitely visit again. If you go with a group, share and try a variety of dishes. Thank you for the meal!

Located on the 7th floor of a building near Kiyamachi Street and Shijo Street in Kyoto, this restaurant is run by an Indonesian chef and staff, with no Japanese staff on weekdays. You can enjoy a view of the Kamogawa River from some seats. The spacious interior exudes Indonesian charm. Today, I tried Indonesian cuisine for the first time, and here is what I had:
- Gado Gado Bali: A vegetable salad with a variety of ingredients topped with sweet peanut sauce. It was delicious and filling.
- Coriander Omelette: A Thai-style omelette with a sweet and rich flavor. It was tasty.
- Satay Bali: Juicy meat skewers with a special peanut sauce. The beef, chicken, and pork skewers were all flavorful, with the chicken skewer being the most delicious.
- Nasi Goreng Bali: A spicy fried rice dish with vegetables and chicken. It lacked rice compared to the amount of vegetables, so I was a bit disappointed.
- Grilled Pork Belly: I ordered this additional dish after feeling unsatisfied with the Nasi Goreng. It was tender and juicy, although the flavor was a bit mild.
Overall, the menu is extensive and the food, except for the Nasi Goreng, was delicious. I would consider revisiting in the future. However, the lack of Japanese staff may make communication difficult for some customers.

When it comes to tropical restaurants, it's all about Takatsuki! But that's a thing of the past. I happened to be with a friend, wondering what to eat, when I saw the words "tropical restaurant" and couldn't resist going in. It's a popular spot where you can enjoy authentic ethnic cuisine. The Balinese Gado Gado salad (a salad mixed with peanut sauce) was a bit sweeter than when I had it on my honeymoon. I think the other dishes also had a slightly sweeter taste compared to what I had in the actual country. I definitely want to go back!

It had been a while since I met up with a friend for lunch. My girlfriend, who lives in Kyoto, chose and made a reservation at a restaurant for us. The location was great, just a minute away from Kawaramachi Station exit 1, which was perfect for someone like me who is bad with directions. We ended up meeting at the station, and when we got off the elevator, it felt like we were already in Thailand! The atmosphere was amazing. The lunch menu was surprisingly diverse, with daily and weekly specials. The Thai curry lunch came with a plate of fried chicken, which was a pleasant surprise. The menu had clear numbers and pictures for easy ordering. I chose the Thai curry lunch, while my friend went for the weekly special. The food was delicious and the portions were generous. The "Babigurun" dish, with pork wrapped in vegetables and Bali spices, was particularly tasty. The chicken karaage was also delicious. The green curry I ordered was a bit spicier than I expected, but still enjoyable. The rice portion was just right, and overall, the meal was satisfying. The restaurant had a great ambiance, and I would definitely recommend it to others.

Located on the upper floors of a building close to Kawaramachi, this restaurant offers a nice view of the Kamogawa River through its large windows. The interior has an Asian resort feel and is quite pleasant. Although it was a weekday lunchtime, the place was not crowded. I opted for a noodle dish instead of the lunch set which included Thai curry and Pad Thai. I can't remember the name of the dish, but it was a Thai-style soup with a tangy and spicy flavor served with rice noodles. The price was reasonable, and the portion was satisfying, with tender chunks of chicken. The staff, who all seemed to be Thai, were friendly and smiling. Thai cuisine is something I crave occasionally, and I will definitely visit this place again.
