Just next to JR Uji Station's north exit, there is a hidden gem of a teppanyaki restaurant where you can enjoy a casual drink. The place is mostly frequented by regulars, but once you step in, the friendly mama-san will welcome you. I ordered a draft beer and quickly followed up with Chanja and stingray fin. The Chanja was incredibly delicious!! I think they mentioned sourcing it from a famous kimchi store. They recommended horse sashimi, so I gave it a try! It was so tender with plenty of marbling! A delightful surprise to enjoy such high-quality horse sashimi! For the finishing touch, I ordered some yakisoba with crispy pork fat topping. The yakisoba was also outstanding, perfectly cooked, great sauce flavor, and the richness of the pork fat topping all balanced out beautifully until the last bite! They offer a variety of small dishes, plenty of meat options, and a diverse menu! The cozy atmosphere, friendly mama-san, and staff made it a delightful and enjoyable dining experience. Located just a 5-minute walk from my home, this restaurant near JR Uji Station is a favorite spot for me and my friends, colleagues, and even when dining alone. It was renovated a few years ago and looks very clean and modern. The menu is extensive and everything I've tried is delicious! My personal favorite is the "Hoso Negi" dish, which pairs perfectly with beer. Other recommended dishes include Hatsu Tamago (chicken heart and egg stir-fry), yakisoba, sobameshi (fried rice with soba noodles), tonpei (pork and cabbage wrapped in egg), and vegetable stir-fry. The staff at the restaurant are all very friendly and create a great atmosphere.
