I visited before 15:00 and there were few customers, it almost felt like a private booking. After 15:00, the park started to get crowded with people and school trip students. The interior of the restaurant is spacious and has a calm atmosphere, I really love it!!!! I ordered the Hanadan that I had my eye on, and the flavors from left to right were "Grass (mugwort-like! lol, I'm taste-deaf so I won't talk about it)", "Roasted (maybe hojicha, I couldn't figure out what was on top but it had a salty taste)", "Tomato (I didn't even know how to pronounce it but it seems to be about tomatoes lol)", "Otearai (hand washing...? (lol it was brain-dead, the classic one was of course delicious)", "Chestnut (no doubt)", "Shichimi (spicy...!? What is this spicy dumpling?!)", "Matcha (a bit bitter)" for a total of 8 types! (limited vocabulary) The appearance is very beautiful. The accompanying matcha? was light. The tea was also well chilled and soaked into my body that was tired from the heat outside. It was nice to enjoy different flavors and colors of dumplings that I have never eaten before ^.ˬ.^ I think it would be nice to sit at the counter seat where you can see the beautiful scenery again!!! ( ˊᵕˋ ) Personally, the fact that only the Otearai dumpling didn't have sauce on the side, and was placed on a stone, was a selling point for me.

I have been wanting to visit this shop for a while. Of course, the main attraction is probably the most famous dumplings. ・Hana-dan ~Summer ver.~ ¥1400 You can enjoy matcha and 7 different types of dumplings. The summer version of dumplings includes: ・Kusa-mochi ・Hojicha ・Tomato ・Mitara-shi ・Chestnut ・Shichimi ・Matcha Shichimi dumplings?! I was surprised, but the aftertaste with a hint of spiciness was new and delicious. Personally, I really liked the tomato and hojicha dumplings! Hojicha has salted kelp on top, which goes well together! The combination of the refined sweetness of hojicha and a hint of saltiness was great. The tomato had a sweet tomato paste that was delicious. It's quite satisfying, so personally, I don't think it's a portion you can eat after lunch, but I would like to come back for a lunch substitute!

I came to Kyoto! This cafe is located inside Maruyama Park where you can enjoy a traditional Japanese atmosphere. They offer items such as rice cakes, tea, steamed buns, and bracken rice cakes. They also have shaved ice available in the summer. The Tofu Skin Rice Bowl (¥1,100) is like a Japanese version of creamy stew, with crispy barley rice and rich creamy tofu skin. It comes with pickles and hot tea, and surprisingly fills you up. The rice cake set is popular, but I chose the Black Sesame Ice Cream (¥650) which had real black sesame in it, with a thin sheet of seaweed on top. It was sweet and nutty, with bits of bracken rice cake inside and a crispy puff at the bottom, allowing me to enjoy both traditional Japanese flavors and authentic sweets.

Located in Higashiyama, Kyoto, is "Ikkyu-an" restaurant. We ordered the "flower dumplings" for 1400 yen and the "six types of warabi mochi" for 860 yen. Both were delicious and unique in flavor. The dumplings came in different flavors like shichimi and hojicha, while the warabi mochi included varieties such as wasanbon, matcha, black sugar, ginger, black sesame, and Kyoto shichimi. The mochi was chewy and flavorful. We enjoyed our treats on the terrace while admiring the park view. It was a lovely experience to enjoy cafe treats in such a beautiful setting. Kyoto has so many charming cafes, and this is one we definitely want to visit again!

The menu at this place is centered around sweets with a Kyoto flair. The "mitarashi ice" comes with dango that you can pour the sauce over yourself. The combination of sweet and savory sauce with vanilla ice cream and fluffy shaved ice is perfect. You can also order mitarashi dango separately for 250 yen each or 660 yen for three. The slightly charred surface and chewy texture make them delicious. The warabi mochi comes in six flavors to enjoy - wasanbon, black sugar, matcha, Kyoto shichimi, ginger, and black sesame. The refreshing texture is great, and my personal favorite is the classic wasanbon. The spacious interior has Wi-Fi available. I ordered the mitarashi ice for 1,350 yen and the six-flavor warabi mochi for 860 yen.

Located in Kyoto's Maruyama Park, this tea house has an amazing atmosphere. Maruyama Park [Ikyu-an] ☑︎ Hanami Set includes dango, sakura warabimochi, and sakura tea, perfect for hanami (cherry blossom viewing). The cherry blossoms in Maruyama Park are currently in full bloom, so it's a great time to visit for hanami or just to enjoy some delicious treats.

Located in Maruyama Park behind Yasaka Shrine. I visited this place after praying at Yasaka Shrine. The shop is spacious and not too crowded, making it a perfect place to rest. The menu is extensive, making it hard to decide. I ordered the "Dango 3 Sisters" and "Chestnut Zenzai". The dango came in three flavors: mitarashi, sesame, and sweet red bean paste, all of them were chewy and delicious. The zenzai was just sweet enough to soothe my tired body. The chestnuts in it were a nice touch. Everything was very tasty. Thank you for the meal.

I was initially drawn in by the appearance, but the taste was also elegant and delicious, so I was very satisfied. The seating was available indoors (which was open to the outside) and in the open area in front of the shop, and it was mostly full. It felt like we had to wait in line to buy and then aim for a vacant seat. The turnover rate seemed decent, so it didn't seem like we would have trouble finding a seat.

Enjoying the scenery on the terrace in Gion Shijo, Kyoto. Maruyama Ikkyuan at Maruyama Park. A long-established sweets shop in Maruyama Park. The view is especially beautiful during cherry blossom and autumn leaves season. The interior of the shop is nice, but on sunny days, it's great to eat outside. The red Japanese umbrella and red tables have a Japanese feel, perfect for wearing a kimono. I tried this dish that I've been wanting to eat. "Potemari Soup" for 750 yen. It contains red and white rice cakes, melty cheese, and cute rice crackers. The potage soup warms you up and is sprinkled with black pepper for an extra touch. It's perfect for a light snack or when you just want a little something to eat. It was warm and delicious! It's a great size if you're out for food tasting or cafe hopping. Thank you for the meal. #MaruyamaIkkyuan #PotemariSoup #MaruyamaPark #AutumnLeavesSpot #KyotoAutumnLeaves #KyotoSweetsShop #CafeSuitableForKimono #CafeSuitableForKimono #SweetsShopSuitableForKimono.

Cafe and sweets shop in Maruyama Park. They offer traditional Japanese sweets like zenzai and dango, as well as coffee for a relaxing break after walking around. The shop is spacious with outdoor seating as well. It was a nice temperature in early autumn, so many people were eating outside. Despite being close to a tourist spot, it's a peaceful place to unwind. I tried the zenzai, which had chestnuts and was quite filling. The taste was average.

I went to a matcha coffee shop with my mother after being disappointed with only receiving a written vermilion seal at Kennin-ji Temple due to the pandemic. The black bean-paste bun with matcha was delicious and Kyoto-like. The atmosphere was relaxing, and the service was self-service. I believe the texture of the sweet was similar to mochi, making it a popular choice among customers, even foreigners. My experience working at a ryokan in Kyoto helped me understand the popularity of warabi mochi among foreign customers.

Hana Dan - ¥1400 Full of Kyoto-like charm in appearance!! Red tables with green leaves! It was amazing! My favorite was the Mitarashi flavor! The other flavors were delicious too, but they were not overly sweet like sugar, more like the taste of the ingredients. It was a space that really brought out the Japanese people's desire to relax, even if you didn't want to, you would end up relaxing, perfect with matcha and hojicha.

"Mochi Mochi Rice Cake Comparison" In Kyoto's Maruyama Park, there is a charming tea house called "Ikyu-an" near Yasaka Shrine. We tried the "Hanadan - More Rice Cakes than Flowers" set, which allows you to compare 7 different types of rice cakes. The flavors included sakura, hojicha, grass, mitarashi, chestnut, shichimi, and matcha, all of them were delicious and chewy, but the mitarashi rice cake was the standout favorite. The set also comes with matcha and Kyoto tea. Since Yasaka Shrine is nearby, it's a perfect spot for a break during your stroll.

I had a reservation at a kaiseki restaurant in Gion for lunch that day, but I had some time to spare so I decided to take a stroll near Yasaka Shrine. I wanted to use the restroom for a bit, but couldn't find one nearby, so I decided to take a break here and borrow the restroom. The place seemed to have been recently renovated and it was very clean and spacious. First, you place your order and make your payment. I ordered some matcha (green tea). Luckily, there were no other customers at that time, so I was told to choose any seat I liked. The ordered items would be brought to your seat once they were ready. The matcha was served on a tray with a seasonal maple leaf-shaped sweet. The restroom I borrowed was also clean and nice. The warm sunlight coming through the window made for a perfect restful break. Now, I'm off to the restaurant for lunch. Thank you for the wonderful experience!

On March 22, a renewal opening was held at Ikkyu-an in Gion Shirakawa, Higashiyama-ku, Kyoto City, located in Maruyama Park. After having lunch at Jukuro Udon Katsuyoshi, we visited Yasaka Shrine, strolled through Maruyama Park, and stopped by this place. It's a sweets shop with a perfect view of the Gion Shirakawa cherry blossoms in Maruyama Park from the counter seats. The location is great, so the place is always crowded with customers. You have to pay in advance, receive a buzzer, and wait at a table outside or inside the shop. When the buzzer goes off, you pick up your order and enjoy it at your seat with self-service water, etc. I forgot to take a photo of the Mitarashi Dango with kinako sprinkled on top, which was around 100 yen each. Takeout is also available. It's a recommended place where you can relax while enjoying the stunning view, with reasonable prices and a cozy atmosphere. Personally, I found it somewhat lacking, so I plan to visit again when the Somei Yoshino cherry blossoms are in full bloom. Check out my blog "Eternal Rose" for more photos not available on Tabelog. Thank you for reading.

After visiting Chion-in Temple, it was quite hot so my companion got matcha soft serve while I opted for beer and edamame. I was surprised that the beer was self-serve but the edamame was seasoned with pepper and there was more than I expected, so I was satisfied. The best part was the cute moss!

I enjoyed my meal with a view of cherry blossoms. There were only about 5 groups in line, but it took around 30 minutes to place an order, which was a bit disappointing. However, the taste and atmosphere were good.
