This is the Ion Mall Kyoto branch of the bread buffet restaurant "Bread Garden," which is part of the Sanmark group. I visited on a Sunday morning around 11 o'clock. The restaurant area here is surprisingly not too crowded on weekends, so it might be a hidden gem. The restaurant is located on the 4th floor of the Ion Mall Kyoto in a open layout where you can see inside from the outside. Inside, there is a service area with bread and a drink bar right at the entrance. There are many table seats lined up, and it seems like it can accommodate a decent number of people. The staff's service is polite. The menu offers Western dishes ranging from 1000 to 1500 yen. You can also add on options like all-you-can-eat bread, a drink bar, and salad. On this day, I ordered the oven-baked toro salmon with Japanese vinaigrette sauce for 1090 yen, all-you-can-eat bread for 180 yen, and a potato assortment for 290 yen. I also had a coupon for a free drink bar. While waiting for the food, I enjoyed the bread as usual. The selection included lemon sugar roll, Japanese-style chapata, cheese long, garlic potato, sakura bread, mini croissant, and more. The sakura bread, garlic potato, and lemon sugar roll were limited-time items. The sakura bread had a subtly sweet flavor and a pleasant sakura aroma, with a comforting texture. The lemon sugar roll had a gentle lemon flavor with a well-balanced sweetness. The toro salmon with Japanese vinaigrette sauce came with vegetables (onion, shiso, eggplant, cherry tomato, potato, etc.) and a refreshing Japanese-style sauce with a hint of citrus. The toro salmon was rich in flavor, tender, and easy to eat. It was a dish that you could enjoy eating. As for the potato assortment, the potatoes used here are familiar as they are used in many of Bread Garden's dishes. The generous portion made it a good value. This restaurant is conveniently located near Kyoto Station and is not too crowded, making it very user-friendly. With its affordable price including all-you-can-eat bread, I would like to visit again.
