However, a friend from Kyoto explained that it was probably just a simple "good job" comment. The sausage pie (360 yen) is a recent favorite item!

I noticed that Kyoto Porta is similar to Yokohama Porta, so I looked it up and found out that they were opened around the same time but are not related in terms of ownership. Kyoto Porta opened on November 27, 1980, while Yokohama Porta opened on November 7, 1980, making Yokohama Porta the older sibling by about 20 days. Starbucks has a store in Yokohama Porta as well. Anyway, this is about the Kyoto Porta store. I had some stars accumulated on the Starbucks app, so I decided to redeem them for a reward drink. You can choose any item up to 756 yen. I used two reward tickets and also got some bread. It's topped with plenty of white sauce and cheese. The white sauce is made with soy milk, and the cheese is a plant-based cheese without animal ingredients. It's part of Starbucks' Plant-Based series, where they use plant-based ingredients in the main components without using animal-based ingredients.

Looking for an outlet, I found a shop in the basement of the station building with many tables and benches lined up. Luckily, there was an empty seat at the counter towards the pillar where there was an outlet. The shop had two open registers, but there was a long line extending outside. The area around the back register had poor signal, so I couldn't display the QR code of my Starbucks card app. When I moved closer to the front register, it finally showed up, and I was able to make my payment. I ordered the following items (excluding tax): - Iced Coffee Short 290 yen I asked for less ice, and the staff suggested putting it in a tall cup, which I agreed to. The iced coffee that day was a blend, and it was good as it was, but I also received low-fat milk in a separate cup to add, making it even more delicious. The staff's quick thinking was great, but I hope they can somehow fix the signal issue... When I emerged from the underground towards Isetan, Kyoto Tower looked beautiful against the blue sky.

The sleeping cat at Starbucks in Kyoto was able to use a 500 yen drink ticket that they found while walking around. The owner, S-chan, also likes Starbucks and sometimes works on their tablet there. The cat got scolded by S-chan for teasing them about being a conscious cat. The cat and S-chan both enjoyed their drinks, with S-chan having a Caramel Macchiato and the cat having a Tiramisu Frappuccino. Overall, they both found the drinks delicious and satisfying. The cat is already looking forward to going back to Starbucks.

I visited Starbucks Coffee Kyoto Porta store in December 2020. There are two stores in Porta, but the one I went to seemed small and shabby. I went inside, but the wifi connection was so bad that it was a turn-off. The Colombian coffee was somewhat tasty.

When I asked about the calorie content of the Sesame Frappuccino-like drink, I was surprised to hear it's just under 600 calories. But there are many delicious-looking menu items that are tempting.
