This shop near Nishioji Station is popular as there are not many dining options around the station. It had been a long time since my friend and I could sit at the counter together. The second floor seemed crowded, so it took a bit of time to be served, but overall the food was delicious! The menu is extensive, which is perfect for someone like me who likes to try a variety of dishes. The sea urchin was also very delicious without any strong flavors. The spring rolls were also good. I would definitely want to visit this restaurant again. Thank you for the meal ♡

Second visit. This time, I ordered dashimaki tamago and basashi. These two dishes were the most delicious! As a fan of dashimaki tamago, I was delighted with its flavorful taste. The basashi was also fresh and tasty. The restaurant has a small counter with four seats and about three tables. It's a cozy hidden gem that makes you want to come back again.

I occasionally go to this station, but it was my first time drinking here. I found a small but convenient restaurant among the not-so-many options. The first floor has 3 or 4 table seats, and the second floor has tatami seating which can be reserved for private use. The menu offers a variety of dishes including fish, meat, and vegetables. It has a normal izakaya atmosphere but with unique menu items. I was curious about the horse meat and decided to order it. It wasn't as authentic as in Kumamoto, but the horse meat was delicious enough (^-^) There were also Kyoto specialties like pike conger available. Overall, it's a versatile restaurant to visit.

This is a great restaurant with a calm atmosphere and energetic staff. All the menu items are delicious, but I highly recommend the rolled omelette - it's really tasty here!

The daily sashimi is delicious, and the horse sashimi is also very tasty. The fluffy and generous sized dashimaki tamago provides a satisfying experience.

Yesterday, during lunchtime at Nishioji Station, one stop from Kyoto Station towards Osaka, I stumbled upon TOMOSU. Inside, there were 6 counter seats and about 4 tables in a calm, wooden space. The lunch menu had three options: daily special, seafood bowl, and grilled fish, with free extra rice. The daily special was mixed vegetables. I ordered grilled horse mackerel and sea bream. It took about 8 minutes to arrive, just as they had mentioned. The amount of rice was normal, but still a bit much, with delicious, lightly seasoned side dishes and miso soup. Coffee or juice is included after the meal. For 850 yen, I was satisfied. The staff were also friendly and smiling. Thank you for the meal! (^^)

Good morning! Today's recommended meal from Mach is here! Let me introduce today's recommended meal! Today we are delivering from Nishioji Station, right next to Kyoto Station! - Izakaya Tomosu, a 1-minute walk from Nishioji Station Today's restaurant is Izakaya Tomosu, where you can enjoy fresh horse sashimi and seasonal seafood. It's a small place with a counter and a few tables, but the atmosphere is nice and the staff are friendly. I visited on a Monday and it was about 70% full. Apparently, it gets really crowded during lunchtime, so it must be popular! - Summer Potato Salad (around 450 yen) The potato salad changes with the seasons. The summer version has a curry flavor, which is nice! - Salted Bonito Tataki (980 yen) The staff recommended the salted bonito tataki. It was topped with myoga, onions, and green onions, all crunchy and fresh. The thick slices of bonito with salt were light and delicious! - Pacific Saury Sashimi (900 yen) A bit early for the season (visited on August 28th)! The fatty Pacific saury sashimi just melted in my mouth! Sweet and delicious, perfect with sake! - Horse Sashimi Assortment (1650 yen) A variety of fresh horse sashimi, including lean meat, belly, top belly, marbled, and liver, all directly delivered from Kumamoto! The fat content and lack of gamey taste made it taste like beef. The horse sashimi here is really delicious! - Grilled Eel and Cheese Spring Roll (750 yen) There are also various unique dishes like the grilled eel and cheese spring roll. Crispy spring roll filled with fragrant grilled eel and melty cheese. The aroma of the eel is irresistible! Highly recommended! The horse sashimi, seasonal sashimi, and unique dishes were all top-notch! If you're in Nishioji, be sure to visit Izakaya Tomosu!

I went to the izakaya Tomosu near Nishioji Station, which I had been curious about for a while. This place is known for its fresh horse meat directly imported from Kyushu. As a fan of horse meat, I was looking forward to it. I made a reservation for 4 friends on Saturday at 7 pm. We were seated in a private room on the second floor. The restaurant has a clean and calm atmosphere and can seat about 15 people on the second floor. It seems that they have only been open for a year. Here is what we ordered: - Horse sashimi seven kinds assortment 1980 yen (excluding tax) - Lava grill (horse meat) five kinds assortment 980 yen x 2 - Oma's seared yokowa 980 yen - Salmon and avocado carpaccio with condiments 650 yen - Chanja 480 yen - Homemade smoked assortment 600 yen - Yagen soft bone spicy fried 580 yen - Tako (octopus) karaage 480 yen - Deep-fried skin-on dried squid 480 yen - Drinks: Draft beer (Kirin Ichiban Shibori) 450 yen, Chu-hai, sake, highball, etc. The horse meat, which is the specialty here, was fresh, tender, and delicious, with no unpleasant smell. We got to try various cuts of horse meat in small portions and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It was a treat to be able to taste the rare raw horse liver as well. The salmon carpaccio and seared yokowa felt slightly lacking in flavor, but the other dishes were delicious. The drink menu offers a wide variety of sake and chu-hai, especially unique chu-hai options that chu-hai enthusiasts would appreciate. The staff was polite and provided good service. Overall, the menu is diverse, the prices are reasonable, and it's a convenient place to dine. I will definitely come back. Thank you for the meal!

I have used this place a few times at night, but this was my first time visiting for lunch. At night, they serve fresh horse sashimi, and it's a cozy izakaya. The restaurant isn't very big, with tables and a counter on the first floor, and a tatami room on the second floor that can accommodate around 10 people for a party. Since there aren't many lunch options around here, customers do come in during lunchtime, so I made a reservation the day before. They told me that since the menu is limited, if I call in the morning of the reservation day, they would hold the table for me. So, I called again around 11 am on the day of the reservation and ordered food for 3 people, including my guests. On the day of the reservation, I arrived about 5 minutes early. I asked to be seated on the second floor, but was made to wait on the first floor for a while. Despite having made a reservation for the number of people, why was I made to wait? Finally, I was taken to a cramped table set up for a birthday celebration for two people. They seemed apologetic and said, "If other tables become available, you can move." However, after about 5 minutes, a larger table for four became available, so we were able to move to a more comfortable spot, but we had to wait again. In the end, the food arrived about 30 minutes after we were seated. It was the same time that the order of the people who arrived after us was served. It's like there was no point in making a reservation in advance. I understand it's busy during lunchtime, but we had reserved the time, number of people, and menu in advance. They seemed to only have prepared the quantity, but not the actual cooking. If I had known it would be like this, I wouldn't have brought guests. I feel terrible for making them wait so long. By the way, we ordered the daily lunch special, which included fried chicken, salad, rice, miso soup, and a drink after the meal. Speaking of which, when the food was brought out, they asked, "May I take your drink order?" I requested an iced coffee, and they brought it to me in the middle of my meal. The timing of serving the food and drink was off! The food itself was delicious, but the service was lacking. It's a shame. It's fine if you can wait leisurely, but I will reconsider using this place for lunch in the future.

We visited the restaurant because we really wanted to eat horse sashimi that night. It was me and a friend visiting. The restaurant had a simple exterior, with counter seats on the first floor and spacious tatami seating on the second floor. Here is what we had that day: Appetizers: A platter of marinated fish, blanched watercress, and bean sprout namul. All of them had a gentle and delicious flavor that went well with beer. Horse sashimi platter: A selection of three types of horse sashimi, each with about 4 slices, which was just the right amount for the two of us. We enjoyed the different flavors, from refreshing to slightly oily, and they all paired well with the ginger soy sauce. Mackerel sashimi (half portion): A seasonal mackerel sashimi that was delicious with just the right amount of fat. There were about 6 slices in the half portion, which felt like a good deal. Grilled local chicken on a hot stone: The chicken was served on a hot stone with a special miso sauce and green onions. The miso sauce was delicious, and we couldn't stop eating. Smoked platter: A selection of smoked cheese, pickled daikon radish, bacon, and boiled egg, all smoked with cherry wood chips. The cheese was particularly impressive, and the smoked bacon and egg were perfect for pairing with alcohol. We enjoyed them with barley shochu mixed with water. What was especially nice was the reasonable prices of the alcohol. The shochu and chu-hai drinks were mostly under 500 yen. The consistent and excellent service from the chef at the kitchen on the first floor to the female server who brought us the dishes was also very impressive. We each had 2-3 drinks and the total bill was just under 3000 yen per person. The cost performance was really good. It was a delightful surprise to find a place like this near Nishioji Station where we could enjoy drinks and food in a relaxed atmosphere. We will definitely visit again.
