- Lanzhou Beef Noodles 850 yen
The clear beef bone soup goes perfectly with the hand-pulled thin noodles. The beef on top here is different from other stores, giving it a unique touch. It was delicious. The chili oil also blends well. There seemed to be more leaf garlic than cilantro, as the cilantro flavor was not very strong. It seems that the price will increase by 30 yen from 9/19.

Located north of Kawaramachi, this is a beef bone noodle shop. I visited around 6 pm and there were quite a few customers, so I was seated on the 2nd floor. There were many customers speaking Chinese, which made me think that it's a taste recognized by people from the home country. There is an app that allows you to order via LINE, which was quite convenient. There are many table seats inside the store. They also sell Chinese products. The air conditioning is too cold, making it chilly. The temperature is the same on both the 1st and 2nd floors.

It's located right near the entrance of Sanjo Meiten-gai in Kyoto. As soon as you enter the shop, you can smell the nice fragrance of Chinese soy sauce. I had the "Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup", which is considered Taiwan's soul food. It contains leaf garlic, beef bone soup, and a spicy and savory flavor of Chinese soy sauce that becomes addictive. I chose the recommended thin noodles, which absorbed the soup well and tasted incredibly delicious.

On the second day in Kyoto, I visited a beef ramen shop that caught my eye in the early morning before the sun rose. The shop was filled with the aroma of cilantro, and the staff seemed to be from Asian countries based on their conversations. I ordered the most popular menu item. I thought it would be a light salt-based soup, but I was able to adjust the flavor with their homemade chili oil on the table. It was delicious!

While strolling around Kawaramachi, I finally tried a restaurant that had been on my mind for a while. I had tried their food through Uber Eats before, but eating at the actual restaurant was even better! The Lanzhou beef noodles had a clear soup packed with umami flavor. The abundance of cilantro added a perfect accent. The mixed noodles with tender beef and spicy seasoning were delicious. The generous amount of vegetables was refreshing. The desserts, including taro balls and sesame balls, were surprisingly tasty. My wife, who came with me, was left speechless when the dishes were served, but I found that added to the local charm and I loved it. I will definitely visit this restaurant again.

This restaurant used to be located near Ryukoku University in Fukakusa, Fushimi Ward. I was drawn to it after eating beef noodles in Taiwan, and I have used it about three times now. I usually order a set of noodles and rice dishes, but this time I opted for just the Lanzhou beef noodle soup in a large portion (950 yen). The noodles are freshly made on the spot, but you may have to wait a bit if there are a good number of people. This time, I had to wait for about 20 minutes due to bad timing. You can choose between flat noodles and thin noodles, with the shop recommending thin noodles, but personally, I think the flat noodles are fantastic. The width of the noodles is consistent despite being handmade, and it is similar to kishimen but with a slightly dryer texture. The beef bone soup itself is light, but the shop adds their own special chili oil on top. I chose this to reduce the fat content, but I completely forgot about the chili oil. However, the chili oil brings out the umami of the beef bone soup, making it an inseparable combination. The toppings include sliced beef, daikon radish, and green onions, and the overall dish comes together nicely. While there are ramen dishes where each component is delicious but don't quite come together as a whole, this place doesn't have that issue and I am satisfied. Despite being located at Sanjo Kawaramachi, there are many foreign customers, with a lot of Uber usage as well. There is also cilantro in the dish, but I think it's a light option even with the chili oil, making it suitable for people of all ages and genders.

#Taiwanese Food Experience# At the Bai Sui Niu Rou Mian (Beisui Beef Noodle) restaurant on Sanjo Kawaramachi Street. The spicy beef and white onion dish was a hit! The familiar Lanzhou beef noodle soup with leek dumplings and beef tendon stewed rice were also delicious. The popcorn chicken and tapioca were popular with the kids. The restaurant has a fast-paced feel, but the delicious appetizers make it a great place to relax and enjoy some drinks. If only they brought the alcohol a little faster, it would be perfect. The spicy beef mixed noodles were a new try for me, and they were also very tasty. I once again realized my love for Taiwanese cuisine. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

I ordered the Taiwanese beef noodles for 930 yen with a large portion for an additional 50 yen. I chose flat noodles. The soup had a unique flavor that would appeal to women. The noodles were not knife-cut, but more like kishimen. The sound when slurping the noodles was different from usual. The restaurant was full of Asian foreigners. Perhaps they are tired of Japanese food and are seeking local flavors.

I visited a Chinese-style beef noodle shop a little after 11 o'clock. I ordered the recommended "Beef Tantanmen" (930 yen) because the "Lanzhou Beef Noodles" contained coriander, which I don't like. I chose thin noodles for my dish. The bowl was filled with bok choy, minced meat, bamboo shoots, and egg, and the soup was a deep red color. The soup was a light and clear broth made from beef, with a hint of sesame flavor. It had a mild spiciness from chili oil and Chinese spices, but it wasn't overpowering. The homemade noodles were long and had a good chew to them, but lacked firmness. The minced meat was made from beef and had a nice balance of spices to mask any strong beef flavor. The bok choy was crisp and went well with the spicy soup. Overall, it was a Chinese-style ramen with a good amount of spices but still easy for Japanese people to enjoy.

"I ordered the Taiwanese-style beef noodle soup at a restaurant named 'Wish to Live to 100 Years Old and Stay Healthy'. You can request to have more noodles added. The soup was rich with the essence of beef, and the fragrance of star anise was appetizing. I also had 5 shrimp dumplings."

I happened to come across this restaurant near Sanjo Kawaramachi arcade and was drawn in. I sometimes crave Chinese flavors, and I had a feeling this place would satisfy that craving. The interior is stylish with a white color scheme. I heard that the Lanzhou beef noodles are famous here, but I chose the mixed noodles! It was a pleasant surprise to be able to choose between thin and thick noodles. The taste was amazing!! It was exactly what I wanted. The seasoning was authentic Chinese. Delicious! I would love to visit again if I have the chance.

This is a Taiwanese ramen shop located in the Sanjo Kawaramachi shopping street. The staff members are from Taiwan and provide refreshing and pleasant customer service. The dishes we tried were 1) Lanzhou beef noodles (¥850 including tax) and 2) Beef belly rice set (¥300 extra including tax). The Lanzhou beef noodles had a light and clear broth with a hint of beef bone flavor. The soup, containing 20 different spices, had a medicinal taste similar to herbal soup, with chopped coriander adding a nice touch. The beef belly rice set featured beef belly that had been simmered for over 3 hours, generously served on top of rice. The rice was seasoned well and complemented the beef nicely. The Lanzhou ramen is recommended for those who enjoy medicinal flavors.

Lunch was dim sum at "Hoshimachi," but I ended up at the newly relocated "Hyakusai Beef Noodle" near Keihan Sanjo after walking around Kikuzaka and Philosophy Road. I couldn't easily find Lanzhou noodles in China, but now I can eat them anytime in Japan. Looking at the menu, Lanzhou noodles (Chinese cuisine) and ramen (originating in Japan) are completely different in ingredients and preparation, but they just call it "ramen." I'd like to visit again when I'm in the Teramachi area. What I ordered (including tax): Lanzhou beef noodles (single) 850 yen, Lanzhou beef noodles & beef belly rice set 1150 yen (my choice), Spicy mixed noodles 850 yen, Yuba and wood ear mushrooms with sansho pepper 500 yen, Leek and egg dumplings 450 yen, Sesame dumplings (black sesame paste) 450 yen, Asahi draft beer 500 yen (I was able to use PayPay, Wi-Fi was forgotten).

The ramen with medicinal herb-spiced beef clearly tastes like ramen from overseas, in the Chinese region. It reminds me of the times I ate abroad... I can't wait for the coronavirus situation to settle down so I can feel like going again. I will definitely come back! Thank you for the meal.

I felt like eating ramen at a table after a long time and was searching for something different. I had some business in Kyoto, so I searched around Shijo Kawaramachi and found this restaurant. I realized that I haven't had beef bone ramen or any unique rice dishes recently, so I decided to try this place out. I arrived at lunchtime and was seated at the end of the counter. I ordered the popular "Beef Ramen" with recommended noodles and also tried a unique rice dish with lamb pilaf and a dish made with honeycomb tripe, which I really like. The "Lanzhou Beef Noodle" came with medicinal herb-spiced beef, cilantro, garlic leaves, and radish, topped with a flavored egg. The soup was a beef bone broth with homemade chili oil. The noodles were handcrafted thin noodles made in the store. The cilantro was quite strong, and I wish the chili oil was added separately to preserve the flavor of the beef bone soup. The egg was overcooked and dry. The "Lamb Pilaf" was a rare pilaf dish in a ramen shop, made with lamb meat. I ordered a small size and found the meat preparation lacking, with a strong smell and unpleasant texture. It was disappointing. The "Honeycomb Tripe with Sesame Flavor" was a dish made with cow's second stomach, and I enjoyed the unique texture and well-balanced seasoning. I wished there were more condiments on the table, as they only had black vinegar and homemade chili oil. If they offer dumplings as a side menu, they should also provide regular vinegar and pepper. If they have homemade chili oil on the table, they should not add it to the beef ramen by default.

It's been a while since I visited the relocated #Hyakusai Beef Noodle on Sanjo Street in Kawaramachi. On this day, I ordered the #Lanzhou Beef Noodle with flat noodles, cilantro, and a seasoned egg topping. The tea egg was delicious, and the Taiwanese spiced soup with flat noodles and cilantro was a perfect combination. The portion was generous, and I always leave satisfied. I also tried the lamb pilaf again, which I'm now hooked on. The flavors slowly build up, giving a nostalgic feeling like eating on the Mongolian grasslands. The Indian rice, lamb, and the way the fat coats the rice perfectly - I'm personally addicted to it. I also got some scallion dumplings to go, and they were delicious when quickly pan-fried. Highly recommended as a snack! It was a satisfying day enjoying the authentic taste of Taiwanese Chinese cuisine. Thank you for the meal!

The interior was beautiful and I finally visited the restaurant I had been wanting to go to! I chose the flat noodles and they were delicious! The seasoning and noodles gave me a taste of Taiwan (even though I've never been there). If you're feeling nostalgic for traveling abroad, I recommend this place. It's quite an interesting ramen. It was fresh and enjoyable! Apologies for leaving some behind.

I had been curious for a while so I decided to try it out. I went to a Lanzhou beef noodle restaurant where they offer two types of noodles. I chose the flat noodles. I added extra cilantro for 50 yen as a set, and also ordered 5 dumplings and garlic chive dumplings. The dumplings arrived first, they were crispy and quite good. I wasn't sure what to dip them in. On the table, there was only black vinegar and homemade chili oil. The beef noodle soup was recommended with thin noodles, and indeed, flat noodles are a bit hard to slurp so I will choose thin noodles next time. The light beef bone soup was very comforting. I couldn't really taste the leaf garlic, so I added extra cilantro, but as a cilantro lover, I wished there was a bit more. Overall, it was a delicious meal. Thank you.

At the fourth stop on the ladder of sake, I visited #Hyakusai Beef Noodles, which moved from Fushimi. I had the #Taiwanese-style beef noodles, hand-pulled flat noodles, which were delicious and became my favorite. I also ordered the lamb pilaf and leek dumplings which were slightly upgraded and caught my interest. The lamb pilaf had a sweet taste with the characteristic flavor of lamb, reminiscent of Jiangsu cuisine, giving it a homely taste that was really good and delicious. The leek dumplings had a great aroma of leeks in the filling which was excellent. The saliva chicken was also delicious. Located on Sanjo Street, the restaurant has a great atmosphere and a wide range of drink options, so I would like to go back to try the Lanzhou beef noodles next time. It was delicious, thank you for the meal.

I had some business in Kawaramachi Sanjo, so I stopped by Sanjo Meiten-gai. There was a new restaurant called Hyakusai Gyuu Niku Men, and I found out that it had moved from Fujimori. Even though I was short on time, I decided to go in. There were two customers ahead of me who hadn't received their noodles yet, which made me wonder. It seemed like I might have to wait longer than expected. The noodles were similar to what I had at Kokichi Men in Yokohama's Kan'nai area - soft and stretchy. I also noticed that there wasn't the sound of the noodles being pounded like at Zam Zam no Izumi in Nishikawaguchi (before they moved), Kaen-zan in Ikebukuro, or Chuka Ranshuu Gyuu Niku Ra-men. The soup was a bit saltier than at Chuka Ranshuu Gyuu Niku Ra-men. The restaurant had chili oil and black vinegar on the table, which means you can help yourself to more chili oil. The chili oil was really delicious and they also sell it. They also have dishes like drooling chicken, so I'd like to visit on a weekend when the alcohol ban is lifted. Thank you for the meal!

I happened to find this place and decided to go in. It reminds me of my time living abroad! I tried the recommended beef noodles and added cilantro on top, which made me very satisfied. Since it was lunchtime, I also got the beef belly rice set. The menu may not be extensive, but everything looked delicious. I'm sure it would go well with beer. I definitely want to come back again. Just a heads up, the star anise might be a bit strong for some Japanese people.

Tonight, I will stay at a hotel in Kawaramachi Sanjo. Since Kyoto is under a state of emergency, restaurants close at 8:00 PM. I found a small shopping street called Sanjo Meiten-gai a little way down Kawaramachi Street from the hotel. As shops began preparing to close, I noticed two ramen shops lined up. One of them had a sign saying "Homemade Noodles". The shop was called "Hyakusai Gyuniku Men". The menu displayed outside showed only three types of ramen. Not wanting to risk missing out, I decided to go in. The counter seats were full, so I was seated at a table in the back. The staff promptly brought me a glass of water and a paper towel. I looked at the menu on the table. There were three types of ramen: "Spicy Mix Noodles", "Taiwanese Style Beef Noodles", and "Lanzhou Beef Noodles". Not sure what to choose, I went with the recommended "Lanzhou Beef Noodles" for 850 yen. I chose thin noodles. The description of the ramen was detailed. The ramen arrived quickly. I tried the soup first. It was a clear and easy-to-drink beef bone soup, different from chicken or pork broth. The part with chili oil added was also worth a taste. The homemade chili oil wasn't too spicy, likely adjusted for ramen. The homemade noodles were quite long, making it difficult to eat in one bite. The noodles were decent, but I think they could be a bit shorter. Instead of chashu, there were four slices of beef, a style not common in Kanto. Surprisingly, there was daikon in the ingredients, which is unusual. Chopped coriander on top added a nice aroma. I also tried the chili oil on the table. Towards the end, the noodles expanded as they absorbed the soup. Perhaps the water content was high. Trying ramen outside of your usual area can be a nice change.
