I stayed at this hotel in Nishi-Maizuru Station for work. I chose it because it has a large communal bath. I had coffee at the Aqua Marine cafe on the 1st floor. The cafe is spacious, bright, and clean. It seems to be popular for breakfast and lunch. There is a restaurant on the top floor where you can enjoy a course dinner. I would like to use it again if I have the chance.

I visited Matsuo-ji Temple, the 29th stop on the Saigoku Thirty-Three Kannon Pilgrimage. The next day, I will be visiting Seisozan Temple, the 28th stop, so I stayed at Nishi-Maizuru. Maizuru Grand Hotel is conveniently located in the Nishi-Maizuru Station rotary. The facilities and rooms were clean, and I had a comfortable stay. There is a large communal bath on the 3rd floor, with separate times for men and women. The restaurant offers breakfast, lunch, cafe, and dinner. The breakfast buffet had a decent variety of dishes.

The restaurant "Blue Sky" on the 9th floor of the Grand Hotel in front of Nishi-Maizuru Station has wide windows, offering a beautiful view of Maizuru's night scenery. I used it for a large group dinner with my work colleagues, and the staff's service was impeccable, creating a pleasant atmosphere for us to enjoy our drinks and food. The menu included a variety of dishes such as seafood salad, sashimi, soup, steak, chawanmushi, and vegetable salad, satisfying all participants. The seafood salad, in particular, with small shrimp, firefly squid, and scallops, was nicely presented with a spring-like touch, which was great.

I stayed at a hotel to catch the early morning train on the Kyoto-Tango Railway's Aomatsu train departing from Nishi-Maizuru. I discovered Maizuru Navy Curry as a souvenir in the lobby and bought it when checking out. While places like Yokosuka and Kure are famous for Navy Curry, I found it here as well. The curry has a slightly tangy flavor with a hint of spiciness, not too chunky in texture. The back of the package describes the history of Navy Curry since the Meiji era. It is made with Maizuru's local sake and beef, resulting in a delicious curry with a mild punch. I enjoyed it and finished it all.
