I received this snack called "Kaiaiawase Monaka." The Monaka is shaped like a seashell. It looks cute. The red bean paste is rich and delicious. It's made with whole red beans. The Monaka itself is also delicious. It contains mochi. It's easy to eat in one bite. This is a delicious Monaka.

I happened to see it at the kiosk at Kyoto Station and purchased it immediately. This is my second purchase today at Kyoto Station following the main store. Here is a summary of the sales locations within Kyoto Station: On Saturdays, I purchased it around 3:00 PM after exiting the Shinkansen Hachijo gate. On Sundays, I purchased it at the Grand Kiosk inside the Shinkansen gate at Kyoto Station around 11:30 AM. You can also purchase it at the gift kiosk outside the Shinkansen Chuo gate at Kyoto Station. Additionally, you can purchase it at the underground floor of West Kyoto Isetan (available for sale only a few days a month and can be reserved online). Please note that all locations have limited quantities available.

Today, on March 7, after a training session in Shiga Prefecture, I had some time before catching the Shinkansen at Kyoto Station, so I went into a gift kiosk nearby. The store was full of tourists, mostly foreigners, with just a few Japanese like us. They had a variety of souvenirs from Kyoto, Nara, and more. I bought some Tanaka's persimmon leaf sushi that my wife likes, and also picked up some Uirou that I enjoy. The Tanaka's persimmon leaf sushi was delicious with vinegar-marinated salmon, sea bream, and mackerel. The Uirou was different from the one I usually eat, more like Suama, but it was also tasty.

This store is located in Asty Road in front of the Hachijo exit of Kyoto Station. They offer a variety of recommended products typical of Kyoto, such as 生茶ゼリイ (Matcha jelly) for 390 yen, 辻利京らんぐ (Tsujiri Kyoto Lang) for 1,404 yen, and 辻利京茶ラスク抹茶 (Tsujiri Kyoto Tea Rusk Matcha) for 583 yen. In the bento corner, I found a bento from "Chakaisekirekido," a chicken dish restaurant based in Gion. It seems that this bento is only sold here, so I bought it immediately. ♦ Fluffy egg chicken cutlet bento ¥1,134 (tax included) We want you to enjoy the chicken, nurtured in rich nature, with carefully selected ingredients. This bento is finished with plenty of sweet and savory minced meat and curry-flavored cabbage on top of domestically produced Koshihikari rice. As I ate the chicken, I wondered how delicious it would be when warmed in the microwave. I finished it while thinking about it. □□□ Introduction to Chakaisekirekido □□□ Chakaisekirekido opened in November 2002. Since then, we have continued to devote ourselves to the spirit of gratitude and hospitality towards our customers for over ten years. Returning to our original intentions, we are increasingly focused on the idea of "deliciousness that makes the body happy." We want to cherish everything that enters the mouths of our customers, from our original Chakaise chicken to organic vegetables and additive-free seasonings. We want to handle everything carefully, without sparing time and effort, and put our hearts into the kitchen every day.

At the end of my trip to Kyoto, I bought a Kyoto-style meal at the kiosk in Kyoto Station. I realized I hadn't tried a bento box yet, so I chose the "Mackerel Strongest Grilled Kyoto Bento" from Tsukudaniya Nomura. It looked so delicious and Kyoto-like. I enjoyed the luxury of the last meal of my trip with the bento and a beer on the Shinkansen. (≧∇≦) [Kyoto Station]

I was waiting for a bus at Kyoto Station on my way to ANA Crowne Plaza Hotel Kyoto. I had some time to spare, so I stopped by Gift Kiosk and found my favorite Nakamura Tokichi's matcha jelly, and even a new flavor I had never tried before, "Cool Scent Matcha Jelly" (450 yen including tax)! I didn't hesitate to buy it, and it was delicious. Just like the description on the package, it was "matcha jelly made a little stronger than usual, with iyokan bean paste." Once again, I have discovered a new favorite.

In May 2019, I bought roasted chestnuts as a souvenir at a kiosk located on the Hachijo-guchi side of Kyoto Station. Each box contains 4 pieces of roasted chestnut sweets. Thank you for the delicious treat.

I walked around Kyoto Station for as long as time allowed and found this shop on the Hachijo-guchi side street. The shop seemed to have a variety of items from different stores. It's not midsummer yet, so just having ice packs was enough. I carefully brought them home. I thought about not uploading the photos because they didn't look good, but the deliciousness won in the end. We started with the top dumpling, then had matcha jelly and a moderately sweet red bean paste. Kyoto sweets - perfect! My husband and I enjoyed them together.

One day for a snack. Went to see the light-up of Toji Temple in Kyoto. Gave up due to a long line. Ate cake at a cafe, drank beer at a pub. Bought some local sweets as a souvenir for my husband who was waiting at home. When it comes to food, my husband, a conservative, would appreciate something like... Yes, definitely Yatsuhashi. So, I bought it at the "Gift Kiosk Kyoto" at Kyoto Station, near the Shinkansen Hachijo exit. There were various types, but I chose a simple 5-piece pack. ◆ Honke Nishio Yatsuhashi Baked Sweet Potato ¥250 (tax included) ◆ Honke Nishio Yatsuhashi Chocolate Banana ¥250 (tax included) Both are nickel-free. The baked sweet potato has a nice texture with bits of sweet potato, quite delicious, recommended. The chocolate banana, on the other hand, uses not only white kidney beans but also red beans, and while you can somewhat taste the banana flavor, the chocolate is completely overshadowed by the red beans. I can't really recommend it, should have chosen something else. As for my husband's reaction... He doesn't seem to mind the lack of nickel, surprisingly. He doesn't seem to care about the filling. When asked why, he said Yatsuhashi refers to the skin part, so they probably sell just the skin, the filling is just a bonus. He then complained about why I didn't buy a genuine Yatsuhashi with no nickel, saying I always choose unusual things... Despite his complaints, he ate quite a bit. Oh, maybe we didn't need to rush back. I wish we had more time to relax in Kyoto... That was the night of the two of us, a married couple.

I bought some Anpan as a souvenir from Shizuya Pan, so I was planning to take a break from Akafuku this time. However, I happened to see Akafuku's white and black mochi at the store, so I couldn't resist buying them. I also ended up buying Ajari mochi and Doi's suguki. I think I bought too much. I'll be more careful next time. It's surprising that they still had white and black mochi on Friday evening. Maybe it's because they are more expensive than regular Akafuku.

I was able to secretly get my hands on the popular Akafuku's white and black mochi. In Kyoto, you can only purchase the white and black mochi at the Omiyage Kaido Eki store and here. I usually buy souvenirs at Kyoto Station on my way back from business trips, but often the regular Akafuku is sold out, especially when I arrive late. On this day, I arrived at Kyoto Station a bit earlier than usual, so I decided to check if there were any left with hopes. I went out of the Central Gate exit of the Shinkansen and there was a kiosk right in front of me. It's where 551 is located. It was past 3:30 pm, and there were only 3 white and black mochi left. They come in a pack of 8 for 1,000 yen. It's 200 yen more expensive than the regular Akafuku. When I got home and tried them, the white mochi is made with white bean paste, and the black mochi is made with black sugar paste. Visually, the black mochi looks very similar to the regular Akafuku, but it has a distinct black sugar scent. I think I prefer the black mochi. Since they are hard to come by, I will make sure to grab them whenever I find them.

There is a kiosk located outside the Hachijo exit of Kyoto Station, right across from the line of food and beverage shops. Despite being a kiosk, it is quite grand. I purchased a "Yellow Cherry Kyoto Mugi Shu Gold Ale" for 333 yen, water for 116 yen, and a "Frost Bridge (Ginger)" for 270 yen for drinking on the train. I paid with a transportation IC card and enjoyed them on the Shinkansen. I didn't realize until I looked at the receipt that "Yellow Cherry" was actually a sake brewery, and the beer had a taste of Fushimi's water. I was unsure if the beer would go well with it, but the "Frost Bridge (Ginger)" snack, with its ginger flavor that I have always liked, turned out to be a fantastic accompaniment.

This is Gift Kiosk Kyoto, but since it's located near Hachijo-guchi, I don't visit frequently. One time while looking for a bento, I saw an advertisement for the famous Barazushi from Amino, but it was sold out. This time, I was considering buying Gen no Masu Sushi. When I peeked into Gift Kiosk, I saw that they had Barazushi. I quickly bought it. As of April 2023 (tax included), Torimatsu Amino's famous Barazushi for one person costs 1,080 yen. The one-person portion is small, so it would be nice if they had a half portion, but it seems Gift Kiosk doesn't carry it. Barazushi has two layers of sushi rice, topped with minced mackerel and dried gourd on both layers. Additionally, the top layer has bamboo shoots, shredded omelette, shiitake mushrooms, fish cakes, green peas, and ginger on top. The minced mackerel has a sweet flavor, similar to chicken soboro. The ingredients are sweet, but the ginger adds a spicy kick, creating a balanced taste. The vinegar rice isn't too sour, making it easy to eat for everyone. It has a nostalgic taste of the countryside. It's a bit small, so I enjoyed it with soba and Japanese sake.

This is a kiosk located inside Kyoto Station's Shinkansen ticket gate. It's a take-out only shop, but they have everything you can think of. It's like the final touch for Kyoto souvenirs, so I always end up stopping by. Sometimes they have items that were sold out at the actual stores. Recently, they even have a Kyoto version of the famous Royce from Hokkaido. This time, I bought the brown sugar matcha flavor. They are individually wrapped, making it easy to share at school or work. It's a fun fact to tell people, "Can you believe Royce is in Kyoto too?!" The price was just right at 864 yen including tax for a box. I'm a cautious person, so I always buy my Shinkansen tickets in advance and arrive at the station almost an hour early. That's why having various shops inside Kyoto Station, including within the ticket gates, is so convenient. I look forward to discovering new souvenirs in the future. Thank you as always!

This is completely an "extra." Inside the Shinkansen platform at Kyoto Station, the kiosk only offers things like a small bento box or drinks. When it comes to Kyoto souvenirs, you might have purchased the famous "Ajari Mochi." However, even though it's just a kiosk, Kyoto Station has a fairly wide selection of souvenirs for those moments when you realize, "Oh, I should have bought that - I forgot." Before boarding the Shinkansen back to Tokyo, I went on a last-minute souvenir hunt with a friend. While I was killing time, my friend was energetically browsing the kiosk. I was eager to get on the Shinkansen and sleep, but since we still had time, my friend was busy buying a bento box and beer. Not wanting to just stand around, I also wandered around the kiosk and came across some compact-sized souvenir items. These were trial sizes, with cookies in sets of 2 or 3. I couldn't remember the name of the products I saw on the display shelf, but they were familiar Kyoto souvenirs in small sizes. I ended up making an impulse purchase as a bonus. I bought the "Cacao Sandwich Cookies" from Dari K, which has its main store in Sanjo, Kyoto, and the "Kinano Miyasando" from Yoshikage Karyo, a shop specializing in kinako located in Gion. I bought them to snack on during the Shinkansen ride, but I never ended up feeling hungry that day. It was understandable, considering the four days of indulgence I had. So, in the end, I remembered to eat them after quite some time. Both were quite delicious. By the way, I may have bought the "Kinano Miyasando" from Yoshikage Karyo before, but I seem to have forgotten to write a review, so my memory is fuzzy. What I want to convey here is not so much about the taste of these snacks, but the fact that at the Kyoto Station Shinkansen kiosk, you can purchase mini-sized, trial packs of snacks that can be used as Kyoto souvenirs or giveaways. If you want to give them to someone, you might want to confirm the taste, but there are no samples available. This issue can be resolved by purchasing these mini sizes when you arrive in Kyoto, confirming the taste, and buying them on your way back. I forgot to take a picture of the display shelf, but there were other mini-sized items lined up, so I recommend it to those who absolutely do not want to fail with their souvenirs and prefer to test things thoroughly before giving them. Alternatively, if you end up making an impulse purchase right before leaving Kyoto, at least with this kind of purchase, your wallet won't take too much of a hit. [Bill] Cacao Sandwich Cookies @500 Kinano Miyasando @540 Total @1040 (including tax)

I used to buy the bento box recommended by Kaoru Small Mountain every time I heard about it. This time, after a long time, I found it! Lucky! The balance between the side dishes and rice is excellent, and it's incredibly delicious, so I highly recommend it!

When I tried them, the texture was unexpectedly crispy and fragrant. This is a souvenir shop. I wanted to buy some souvenirs, so I stopped by. I decided to go with Yatsuhashi since I'm in Kyoto, so I bought Inadzuma's Nama Yatsuhashi Matcha for 378 yen and Inadzuma's Nama Yatsuhashi Nikki for 378 yen. It was convenient to purchase at the shop in front of the station gates.

On this holiday, the first day of the consecutive holidays, there are spots around Kyoto Station where you can buy famous Kyoto sweets. My personal favorite is Futaoba in Demachi, which offers the best bean daifuku. Normally, they have different delivery times for different days of the week, but on holidays, they sometimes have emergency deliveries. I called to confirm and they said they have an emergency delivery! Hurry before they sell out! I managed to buy a pack of 3 bean daifuku. The balance of saltiness and sweetness is perfect, and the smooth filling spreads in your mouth. I definitely want to eat it again, I will eat it again!

As I entered the central ticket gate of the Shinkansen station and walked a bit to the left, I found a shop. I was looking for some good Kyoto souvenirs, and there it was - Yūko Milky's signature "Nama Yatsuhashi" with Peko-chan's illustration. I have visited Kyoto several times in the past, but this was my first time seeing Yūko Milky. The "Nama Yatsuhashi Yūko Milky" costs 756 yen. I wondered what it would taste like, so I decided to try it. Hmm... it doesn't taste like traditional Yatsuhashi at all. It tastes exactly like Milky (I can't describe it any other way). It's impressive how the developers came up with this. Bon appétit!
