This is completely an "extra." Inside the Shinkansen platform at Kyoto Station, the kiosk only offers things like a small bento box or drinks. When it comes to Kyoto souvenirs, you might have purchased the famous "Ajari Mochi." However, even though it's just a kiosk, Kyoto Station has a fairly wide selection of souvenirs for those moments when you realize, "Oh, I should have bought that - I forgot." Before boarding the Shinkansen back to Tokyo, I went on a last-minute souvenir hunt with a friend. While I was killing time, my friend was energetically browsing the kiosk. I was eager to get on the Shinkansen and sleep, but since we still had time, my friend was busy buying a bento box and beer. Not wanting to just stand around, I also wandered around the kiosk and came across some compact-sized souvenir items. These were trial sizes, with cookies in sets of 2 or 3. I couldn't remember the name of the products I saw on the display shelf, but they were familiar Kyoto souvenirs in small sizes. I ended up making an impulse purchase as a bonus. I bought the "Cacao Sandwich Cookies" from Dari K, which has its main store in Sanjo, Kyoto, and the "Kinano Miyasando" from Yoshikage Karyo, a shop specializing in kinako located in Gion. I bought them to snack on during the Shinkansen ride, but I never ended up feeling hungry that day. It was understandable, considering the four days of indulgence I had. So, in the end, I remembered to eat them after quite some time. Both were quite delicious. By the way, I may have bought the "Kinano Miyasando" from Yoshikage Karyo before, but I seem to have forgotten to write a review, so my memory is fuzzy. What I want to convey here is not so much about the taste of these snacks, but the fact that at the Kyoto Station Shinkansen kiosk, you can purchase mini-sized, trial packs of snacks that can be used as Kyoto souvenirs or giveaways. If you want to give them to someone, you might want to confirm the taste, but there are no samples available. This issue can be resolved by purchasing these mini sizes when you arrive in Kyoto, confirming the taste, and buying them on your way back. I forgot to take a picture of the display shelf, but there were other mini-sized items lined up, so I recommend it to those who absolutely do not want to fail with their souvenirs and prefer to test things thoroughly before giving them. Alternatively, if you end up making an impulse purchase right before leaving Kyoto, at least with this kind of purchase, your wallet won't take too much of a hit.
