My beautiful wife bought me souvenirs from Kyoto. They are Ramune flavor and black sesame flavor. I could try the lunch flavor too, but the traditional black sesame flavor is the best! I prefer familiar tastes as an older man. The small individual packaging of Nishio's nama yatsuhashi makes it easy to buy!

I purchased a small pack of black sesame hachitaki for a snack at home. The rich flavor of sesame is delightful, and black sesame is my favorite among the hachitaki. Over 30 years ago, there were only cinnamon and matcha flavors, but now there are various types of hachitaki available, allowing us to enjoy different flavors. While cinnamon is a classic, it never fails to satisfy with its delicious taste.

Took a detour to Kyoto on the way back from Osaka where my child had an exam. Didn't buy souvenirs in Osaka so bought one in Kyoto. Got "Hinamatsuri Yūko" for 594 yen. It's strawberry and chocolate flavored. The pink colored Yatsuhashi is cute. It doesn't contain any cinnamon so I think it's safe for kids too.

The refreshing mint flavor with chocolate chips, and chocolate mint paste inside, in a chewy skin. The minty freshness is subtle when eaten alone, but more pronounced when eaten with the paste. The chocolate mint paste with chocolate chips inside has a slightly sticky texture like white bean paste. The combination of chocolate sweetness and paste's sweetness surprisingly works well together, not too sweet and easy to eat. However, there was a slight unique taste... or maybe it was just my imagination. Eating the skin and paste together makes the chocolate mint flavor come alive! Eating them separately usually enhances each flavor, but in this case, eating them together makes it complete.

I bought the MIZUKI by Oimatsu but the quantity was small, so I decided to buy some fresh Yatsuhashi instead. Here at CUBE, there are four shops lined up - Ito Yatsuhashi, Nishio Yatsuhashi, Shogoin Yatsuhashi, and Otabe, creating a mini Yatsuhashi proxy war scene (lol). I already know where I'm going to buy from. I'm voting for the variety of Nishio Yatsuhashi! They come in packs of 5, with various flavors to enjoy. This time, I chose my favorite recommendation, "black sesame," and "peach." The black sesame is, needless to say, the best among them with the aroma of black sesame floating in the air and matching perfectly with the sweet bean paste. "Peach" has a peach scent added to the white bean paste, with no overwhelming sweetness, making it a great choice for those who don't like overly sweet treats! There is also a seasonal limited edition flavor called "soda flavor," which I hesitated to buy, but it's only available until the end of August... I tried the sample and it had a refreshing taste, like ramune soda. I'll buy it next time I come to Kyoto.

This is the oldest Yatsuhashi shop in Kyoto! This shop, Niki thought it was delicious even though it was the first time she tried it, is called Nama Yatsuhashi-ya. It contains Niki, but this Nama Yatsuhashi here is only Yatsuhashi without sweet bean paste! It is chewy and delicious. It has no strong taste, and because it doesn't have sweet bean paste, you can eat as many pieces as you want! Be careful not to eat too much! I recommend this Nama Yatsuhashi for those who don't like Yatsuhashi. I will definitely buy it again when I go to Kyoto!

When I got off the Shinkansen, I saw a sign for Nishio-san at the stairs, and his name stuck in my head. I decided to stop by the shop, a well-established store known for its Yatsuhashi (traditional Japanese sweet). The lineup was exactly what I was looking for, so I immediately made a purchase. I bought the limited edition Christmas bitter chocolate and strawberry-filled Yatsuhashi. There were other delicious items as well. Some people around me don't like Yatsuhashi, but I think they would enjoy these. Of course, I also bought some for myself, and the strawberry-filled Yatsuhashi with a hint of chocolate was truly delicious. Since it's a seasonal item, I hope I can purchase it again in the future.

This is a shop located in the Kyoto Station Building specialty store area "The CUBE", immediately to the left after exiting the central ticket gate of Kyoto Station. I mistakenly posted a review on the "Kyoto Isetan store" but the correct location is here, so I have registered a new review. I apologize to those who have liked the incorrect review. The shop is listed as "Honke Yatsuhashi Nishio" on The CUBE's website. I came to Kyoto and wanted to try the Yatsuhashi here that was highly praised by MyRebi's ◆◆Kuma Panda◆◆. Despite having Seigoin Yatsuhashi and Izutsu Yatsuhashi on both sides, this place was the most bustling. The reason may be the two incredibly cute staff members, but of course, it's also about the deliciousness. I actually tried "fresh Yatsuhashi" a few years ago, but I haven't had the regular hard Yatsuhashi in decades. But since I came all the way here, I decided to try this Yatsuhashi that I have no memory of eating before. I purchased a pack of Nishio Yatsuhashi Nikki (3 pieces x 10 bags) for 540 yen including tax. I immediately noticed the scent of Nikki as soon as I opened the bag of 3 pieces. When I tasted it, it had a crispy texture. It's not too hard, and while it has a dry texture, it's not sharp. It's very easy to eat with a texture that fits well with the teeth. Compared to the Yatsuhashi I've had before, it's "not too hard" and "the flavor of Nikki is comforting". It truly lives up to being the "originator of Yatsuhashi". Being an old-fashioned sweet, you can eat it without any additives and feel safe. In fact, my family also praised it as "the most delicious Yatsuhashi we've had". I agree with that. Even if you haven't liked it before, please try Nishio's Yatsuhashi once. Your impression might change. The leaflet had a manga illustrating the story of the birth of Yatsuhashi. It's a sad story, but as always, a mother's feelings are heavier than the Earth. 2017.9.14

I was able to buy some limited-time seasonal items at Gifu Takashimaya on the last day of the event. I tried four different flavors and they were all delicious. I bought them for 1000 yen for five pieces, and even got an extra one as a bonus. I would love to visit the store someday. It was convenient to use PayPay for payment.

I received this as a souvenir from Kyoto. When I heard the name Nishio, I could only think of Yatsuhashi, but I was surprised to find a familiar snack with a taste of matcha that was like a cologne. These kind of snacks have a guaranteed deliciousness, so I thought it might be nice to buy something like this as a souvenir for myself sometimes.

I am Toshihide Igaki, the representative of the women's training company Cheriroze Co., Ltd., a human resources educator, mental trainer, and etiquette instructor. A regular student named Okuchi, who commutes from Nagoya, brought back souvenirs from Kyoto for the Executive Chapter 1 - Motivation Up course. We enjoyed them together with the other students. The souvenirs were Yatsuhashi, a Kyoto specialty, finely chopped and coated with chocolate crunch. The flavors included regular chocolate, matcha, and strawberry. The combination of crunchy Yatsuhashi and chocolate creates a subtle cinnamon aroma. The unique texture of Yatsuhashi and the balance of chocolate made it a delightful treat. Thank you for the meal.
