【First Visit on August 26, 2023】Exiting the north exit of Seijo Gakuenmae Station and heading towards Kitami, a shop with a luxurious feel appears on the right side along the station. This shop was recently announced as one of the top 100 dessert shops. Many unknown famous shops were included due to the exclusion of a gelato and Japanese confectionery shop. As a dessert lover, I was delighted by this news, but as someone living in Ibaraki Prefecture, I found it troublesome that many items are difficult to carry around, especially in hot weather, when it comes to takeout. In the midst of this dilemma, I decided to try visiting a shop where I could dine in. The shop farthest from my home that allowed dining in was this one. When I arrived around 3 p.m. on a Saturday, there was a wait for dining in with 5 groups ahead of me, and a waiting time of 90 minutes was indicated. After killing some time nearby for about 30 minutes, I returned to the shop. Upon checking the status of my assigned number again, it was being called... and I was directed to the cafe space on the second floor before being seated. Even though it was around 4 p.m. and 10 minutes earlier, the cake display case was surprisingly empty! The cake that Myrebi had eaten was also gone... so, I ordered the one that caught my eye the most, the "Noble." I also ordered an iced coffee. After waiting for about 15 minutes, the order arrived! First, I moistened my throat with the coffee and tried to cool down my body... The coffee had a strong and delicious bitterness! It was very cold but the rich flavor came through. When I added a little gum syrup and milk and drank it... I really felt refreshed! The "Noble" is a cake with a hazelnut ganache base! The top is covered with a smooth bavarois with a strong cocoa flavor, and underneath that, I thought it was a moist sponge cake... but according to the shop's introduction, it is "dacquoise noisette"... indeed, looking closely at the photo later, it seems to be the case. The ganache is sandwiched in the same layer below, enhancing the rich cocoa and nutty flavors with a restrained sweetness. The price is 605 yen, which seems appropriate for this area. With a total of 1,120 yen, the drink set is 200 yen off, making it quite reasonable. There were many customers who seemed to be madams in the shop, so I think it's a good price range for having a coffee. Established in 1965, it is quite a long-standing shop. I believe they offer valuable cakes that maintain a retro flavor that is worthy of such a long history. Thank you for the meal.
