I hadn't had yakitori set meal for a long time, so I stopped by while visiting Kyoto. They grill it over charcoal and serve it hot, with decent flavor. Unfortunately, there was nothing particularly impressive, so I think it's good for when you just really want a meal centered around yakitori.

Yakitori set meal for ¥1045. I asked for a small amount of rice, but it was still a normal size portion in my opinion, so it would be a very cost-effective set meal for men. The yakitori included 2 tsukune, 1 liver, and 2 negima. It also came with white rice, salad, miso soup, and pickles. Personally, I'm a bit picky about liver, and I found the liver here a little off... Liver tends to be a love-it-or-hate-it item. Those who like it will probably find it delicious. The tsukune was the most delicious. You get to eat 5 skewers of yakitori, so you'll get quite full. It's perfect for when you want a satisfying lunch but also want to save money.

When I visited Kyoto Station area by car and was looking for a lunch spot, I ended up at this place. It's a place that makes you want to drink, but since I can't drink, I chose the "Chicken Bento" which doesn't make me want to drink. I imagined the classic deliciousness of minced chicken and egg spread, but it turned out to be bland and not tasty at all. The yakitori is definitely delicious though... Seeing other customers enjoying their lunch drinks makes me envious... I shouldn't have come here by car... By the way, my partner had the "Assorted Skewers Set" across from me and said it was delicious.

I decided to have lunch at Porta in the underground area of Kyoto Station. It was past 1 o'clock on a Saturday, so every restaurant had long lines. I noticed this place with relatively few people waiting, so I decided to give it a try. Maybe yakitori is more of a dinner food? Anyway, it felt fine to have a drink at lunchtime, and I'm glad I didn't have to skip a meal. Thank you for the meal.

The chicken bento box for 825 yen was decent, with the chicken rice being average. However, the fried chicken and side dishes were delicious. I would love to revisit and try a different menu. The restaurant seemed better than it appeared at first glance, and I felt that they put effort into their cooking and flavors. I saw a sign that said lunch menu available until 5 pm, so I entered at 3:50 pm. They also have reasonably priced set meals for dinner.

It was a late lunch around 2 o'clock. I was wandering around thinking about what to eat. Yakitori!! I entered because it looked delicious. I had the yakitori set meal, and my child had the yakitori rice bowl. The yakitori set meal had liver, which got me really excited. It was delicious. I wish I could have had a beer. Thank you for the meal.

This is Kyoto. There was a shop in the underground mall in front of Kyoto Station. I was looking for a lunch spot and wandering around Porta. After the pandemic, Kyoto has seen a significant return of tourists, so everywhere is quite crowded. There was a board at the entrance where you had to write your name, so I wrote my name and waited for a while. There were a couple of groups ahead of me, but there were also some empty seats, so I thought I would be seated soon, but it took a while. There were about 6-7 waitstaff in the restaurant, but they seemed to be not paying much attention to the entrance, so I had to wait to be seated. I ordered the yakitori set meal. After waiting for about 7-8 minutes, the yakitori set meal arrived. It came with 5 skewers, 2 negima, 1 liver, and 2 tsukune, with the tsukune being the most delicious. I was happy that they mixed different skewers. However, while I like liver, some people may not, so that could be a concern. The rice was a bit dry, which was a bit disappointing. If it was a yakitori bowl, it might not have been as noticeable. Therefore, I am not sure if I would visit this place again.

At the Kyoto Porta store. A favorite since childhood. Can only be tasted here. Couldn't help but close my eyes after putting it in my mouth. The yakitori, fried chicken, and tori-nanban are all delicious. Beer goes down quickly. There are also stores in Umeda Whity and Namba City.

My mother and I visited Porta Dining for lunch in Kyoto Station for the first time. It was Sunday afternoon, and even before the 11:00 am opening, most places already had lines forming. We managed to slip in here relatively easily, without having to wait. We were both pondering over the delicious-looking menu, and ended up ordering the skewer set meals. Additionally, we each ordered a tsukune (chicken meatball) wrapped in shiso leaf and a chicken tenderloin with wasabi. The skewer set meals included three skewers each of grilled chicken and deep-fried skewers. The grilled chicken skewers were tsukune, liver, and negima (chicken with leek), while the deep-fried skewers were shrimp, chicken, and chicken meatball, I think? We didn't ask in advance what was on the skewers, but my mother can't eat liver, and I can't eat leeks, so we swapped the liver for negima (chicken with leek). The deep-fried skewers were crispy and not too heavy, very easy to eat and delicious! Especially the chicken meatball was fluffy and I really liked it. The grilled chicken was fragrant and good too. The additional chicken tenderloin and tsukune we ordered were also very delicious. The sansho pepper on the table added an extra dimension to the flavors. I tried sprinkling salt and sansho pepper on the rice, and it was a great combination. The salad had a little dressing, so I added some salt and enjoyed it. As I was eating, I suddenly looked towards the entrance and saw a line forming! I'm glad we got in a little early. The staff were polite, friendly, and we had a pleasant dining experience. My mother was also happy, and she said she would like to come back again to try various items on the menu. Thank you for the meal!

At 4:30 pm, on my way back from the license center, I found a place in the underground mall where I could have an early dinner. They had a selection of lunch menus available until late, so it felt more like a dinner menu to me.

Kyoto. In Kyoto, there is a shop in the underground mall in front of Kyoto Station, called Seikoya. It was my first business trip to Kyoto in a while, and I was thinking about where to have lunch. When I saw that the shops in Porta had changed quite a bit, I decided to check it out! To my surprise, there were several Osaka shops lined up, including Daruma for kushikatsu, Kineya, and Seikoya. I thought about trying kushikatsu, but I still had work to do and didn't want to start drinking beer, so I passed on Daruma! Since I had breakfast at a different place, I decided to go for yakitori at Seikoya. When I entered the shop, there were quite a few staff members who all seemed very busy. I sat at the table I was guided to and looked at the menu, which was the same as in Osaka. The yakitori bento box, soboro, and other familiar items were all very appetizing. I was tempted by the teriyaki and wanted to try the yudofu. In the end, I chose the classic yakitori bento box! The yakitori set arrived after about 10 minutes. It included 1 piece of liver, 2 pieces of negima, and 2 tsukune. I started with the liver, which looked well-cooked on the outside but was slightly rare inside, which I really liked. However, it made me crave beer instead of rice, which was a bit of a dilemma for a non-drinking lunch. The negima was well-cooked and the sauce was flavorful, making it very appetizing. The tsukune was also delicious. It was nice to have variety in the skewers instead of just the same thing. The rice portion seemed not too much at first glance, but it was actually quite filling. I would definitely like to revisit this place for lunch when in the area again.

Depachika gourmet floor has a chicken restaurant called Masakiya. They offer delicious yakitori and chicken dishes. I ordered a draft beer, yakitori set of 5 (968 yen including tax), and a kushikatsu set of 5 (880 yen including tax). I started with a cold draft beer to quench my thirst. The beer was served in a chilled glass, very refreshing. The yakitori and kushikatsu were served quickly, no long waiting times. The prices are a bit higher than regular yakitori places, but I think it's worth it considering the convenience and quality.

I had lunch here. Depending on the time of day, there might be a bit of a wait. The food comes out quickly after ordering. It's a good place to bring kids. The flavors are not too strong, which is nice. The prices are reasonable, and the rice, salad, and soup were all delicious.

Today, I visited Masakiya Kyoto Porta store located in the underground shopping area in front of JR Kyoto Station. I ordered the lunch set menu available until 5 o'clock, which included a combination skewer set for 1,100 yen, and also a medium-sized draft beer for 528 yen. The skewer set included 3 yakitori skewers and 3 kushikatsu skewers, all of which were delicious. Thank you for the meal.

My friend wanted to eat something hearty like yakitori, so we decided to go to this restaurant. I ordered a mixed skewer set with rice, while my friend got a yakitori bowl and some karaage. I tried the karaage and noticed that it didn't seem to have much seasoning on the chicken itself, just on the batter. When I asked my friend, he explained that it's common for karaage to be lightly seasoned with just salt on the chicken. It was a different experience from the Chinese-style karaage I'm used to. At this restaurant, they serve it with a spicy soy sauce on the side. Interesting!

At Kyoto Station, there are so many delicious options to choose from for dinner - department stores, station buildings, and Porta. After having noodles for a while, I felt like having some rice. I found a yakitori restaurant called Seikoya that offers set meals for around 1000 yen. The restaurant had a nice level of crowd, with solo diners and couples at the counter seats, and a few businessmen at the table seats. Families were also dining there. The set meal included freshly grilled yakitori like tsukune, negima, and liver. I couldn't eat the liver because it was too strong-tasting. I wish I had known in advance so I could have ordered something else. The set meal also included shrimp, tonkatsu, and lotus root tempura. The red miso soup, rice, pickles, and dry cabbage salad were a bit disappointing. Overall, for around 1000 yen, the dinner was decent in terms of cost performance.

Plenty of rice! It was on the firm side. It seems like it wasn't new rice. The yakitori had a standard sauce, but salt-grilled was also available. I had 2 tsukune, 2 negima, and 1 liver skewer. With salad, miso soup, pickles, and rice, all for under 1000 yen, which was great. They have various lunch options, so even non-drinkers can enjoy it. I want to come back next time for a daytime drink.

Grilled and Fried Skewers Set Meal at Shokkiya in Kyoto Station
On this evening, I returned to Kyoto and headed to Shokkiya, a grilled chicken and fried skewers restaurant located in the Kyoto Station underground porta. I ordered the skewers set meal which included grilled chicken and fried skewers for 1,100 yen. Since it was a liver rest day, I enjoyed the meal with a non-alcoholic drink. Thank you for the delicious meal! #Kyoto #KyotoStation #Gourmet #Shokkiya #Yakitori #FriedSkewers #delicious #porta #liverday #Tsukune #Lever #Negima #Shrimp #Misocutlet #Shisoroll

Good evening♡ This is a new restaurant that opened at the renewal opening of Kyoto Porta. I love yakitori, so I was planning to go there from the beginning. They use chicken from Mie Prefecture, but when I looked it up, I found out that there are quite a few restaurants in Osaka as well. No wonder I've seen it before. I think this restaurant is reasonable compared to other eateries in Porta's food court. Depending on the combination, lunch items are also available for under 1,000 yen! This time, I wanted to eat yakitori, so I ordered a set with kushikatsu. Well, my companion ordered the yakitori set without hesitation right in front of me, so I decided to go for a different set, which included yakitori. It filled me up quite well, but the taste was just average. It was decent enough for a daily meal. Next time, I might consider getting the fried chicken set, thinking about my wallet. By the way, it seems like they also offer yakitori for takeout.

Visited in April 2022. The location is a new shop in the underground mall Porta at Kyoto Station. I have been to the shop in Whity Umeda in Osaka before, where you can eat yakitori and kushikatsu at a reasonable price. The lunch set with plenty of volume is available until 5 pm, and you can order yakitori or kushikatsu by the piece, which is a great feature of this shop. I ordered the duck for 264 yen, chicken for 220 yen, and Kirsch beer for 528 yen. It's also nice that they don't charge a seating fee. The total came to 1,012 yen. It's a place where you can easily go alone in the underground mall at Kyoto Station. I recommend it. However, I couldn't use the free Wi-Fi at Porta either.
