Ordered the regular sea bream rice bowl for 1600 yen, which is a normal price for seafood. The pricing, atmosphere, and interior suggest that this is not a tourist-oriented business, but rather focused on providing good food and service. The dish already had broth poured over it, which I mixed with the egg yolk. You can choose to mix the yolk in or keep it separate, depending on your preference. The combination of egg and broth enhances the richness of the sea bream.

I dropped in and the inside of the shop was bustling with many tourists. The staff were kind and explained various things to me. They had both farmed and wild sea bream, so I decided to try half of each. I couldn't really tell the difference, but both were good. So maybe the cheaper farmed one is better.

There is no other sea bream rice as delicious as this♡ The way to eat was also written and it was incredibly delicious! I made a reservation for before 12 o'clock on Saturday and the restaurant was full! I would like to try a different menu next time. Thank you for the meal!!!

The restaurant is located in a popular area in Kawaramachi, so on weekends, surrounding shops are always fully booked. However, this restaurant is often available. It may be because the sign says "Nama Taimeshi" which might not ring a bell for those looking for Kyoto or Ehime cuisine. But if you're not fixated on Kyoto cuisine, I recommend trying this place. The food is delicious and they offer unique dishes. The service is good and the atmosphere is nice. The only downside is that the food takes a while to come out. Unfortunately, we didn't have enough time to try their specialty Nama Taimeshi this time, but it's such a great restaurant that I will definitely come back again.

I arrived a little early, 5 minutes before opening time, so I waited outside (in the rain). The streetscape was typical of Kyoto, which was good. The interior of the restaurant was smaller than I expected, but it was crowded and quickly filled up. I had the lunch set with natural sea bream. It was delicious, especially when I mixed in the egg halfway through. I wanted to have orange juice, but I could see people waiting outside through the bars, so I left without being able to fully enjoy the restaurant. I wish I had more time to look around inside. The sea bream rice was so good that I want to eat it again. It was a perfect match of taste and portion size. Thank you for the meal.

I arrived by car and got stuck in traffic, worrying if I would make it to my reservation on time. It was in Kyoto, a tourist destination, and I thought it was quite a nice location. Despite that, the prices were very reasonable. I had the sea bream rice set. First, I had the sea bream as it is. Then, I enjoyed it with delicious rice. I put a piece of sea bream on the rice, added egg yolk, and poured sauce over it, enjoying the various flavor combinations. The only disappointment was that the specialty orange juice was sold out. It made me even more curious about it. Thank you for the meal.

It's quite difficult to choose a restaurant in Gion. My companion found this place for us. I didn't know you could eat Uwajima sea bream rice in Gion. I love Uwajima sea bream rice. We also had the chance to drink Ehime sake. For dessert, they served bread with homemade vanilla ice cream inside, deep-fried! That was delicious too.

I lined up at the restaurant and ended up having sea bream rice in Kyoto for some reason. I ordered the "Baimori Gozen" which allows you to enjoy both farmed and wild sea bream. It is served in the Uwajima style, where you mix raw sea bream with dashi egg and rice. The restaurant leaves it up to the customers on how they want to eat it. You can enjoy it in the traditional "bukkake" style or have the sashimi separately. The taste was as expected, a refined version of the usual Uwajima-style sea bream rice. It seemed like they added a touch of elegance to match the Kyoto atmosphere. In my opinion, it was delicious but maybe not necessarily a must-try in Kyoto.

It was a very delicious restaurant. I was so happy to finally get a reservation at this place I had always wanted to go to. I will definitely eat here again the next time I go to Kyoto. They serve rice cooked in a clay pot and finish with salt at the end, it's a kind and gentle place. Each ingredient and dish was lovely and matched perfectly. I want to taste more of their carefully crafted dishes.

During my trip to Kyoto, I decided to rent a kimono in Kawaramachi without any plans for lunch. I stumbled upon a charming restaurant with a sign that read "sea bream rice" and immediately decided to go in. The restaurant had a few counter seats and table seats. I visited on a Sunday around 12:30 and was able to find a seat at the counter without any trouble. I ordered the sea bream rice bowl for ¥1,650. It arrived in about 5 minutes! The sea bream was tender and delicious, with no fishy taste. The dashi soy sauce and wasabi added a nice touch to the dish, making it enjoyable until the last bite. My friend ordered the sea bream rice set, which came with a different side dish of chawanmushi, and I couldn't help but feel a bit jealous. However, everything was incredibly tasty! The friendly and attentive service matched the cozy atmosphere perfectly, making my dining experience even more pleasant. Thank you!

I was looking for a place to have a Kyoto-style lunch in Kawaramachi, and I stumbled upon this restaurant. I arrived around 11:30 am on Saturday without a reservation, but was able to get a table. I ordered the Sea Bream Set Meal for 2500 yen. It came with three ways to enjoy it - first as sashimi, then on top of rice, and finally as a topping for egg over rice. The dashi soy sauce was incredibly delicious, and I ended up having multiple servings of rice just to enjoy it. If I could be picky, I would have liked a bit more sea bream, but overall I was very satisfied! Thank you so much!

I highly recommend this place!!! The restaurant is a bit hidden away down a small alley, giving it a cozy hideaway feel. However, there is a menu displayed outside that is hard to miss. The sign says "Feel free to come in even if you're alone," which I thought was considerate. I made a reservation this time. Normally, it seems like you need a reservation to get in, but I think you could be seated in about 30 minutes if you wait. As for the sea bream rice, it's a bit different from what you might imagine, as everything comes on separate plates. First, you eat the sea bream as sashimi, then you pour sea bream and dashi soy sauce over the rice, and finally you top it with an egg yolk to make it like an egg rice bowl with broth. It's recommended to try it that way. They serve plenty of rice in a wooden tub, so I ordered an extra serving of sea bream (500 yen for a bowl) and dashi soy sauce (I think it was 110 yen) and ended up having two bowls. The dashi soy sauce had a gentle and delicious flavor, and the sea bream tasted really good. The pickled vegetables had apples and edamame in them, and even though it's pickled, it had a gentle flavor because it's mixed with broth. The miso soup was also tasty, not too salty, and had a flavor that went well with the other dishes. I definitely want to come back again.

I watched a YouTuber's review of this restaurant and decided to visit based on the positive feedback. I planned to also visit a dessert shop afterwards, so I expected the portion size to be reasonable. They offer a light sea bream rice course for lunch, and a more substantial course for dinner. I used to frequent the area when there was a Taki Seedling Kawaramachi store (unfortunately closed now), so it was nostalgic to walk around again. I ordered the sea bream rice course as recommended in the YouTube video. (1) I ordered the orange juice (from Uwajima) which had received good reviews. It was a special orange juice that was really delicious, even better than the ones I had tried at a specialty orange juice shop in Matsuyama. It was hard to describe the taste, but it was a high-quality orange juice that brought a sense of happiness. (2) Sea bream rice course: (a) Grilled young sweetfish with mibuna on the side. The young sweetfish had a strong taste of internal organs and very little meat. The mibuna was decent. (b) The natural sea bream (from Uwajima) was of high quality. It was recommended to eat it with the rice and broth, which had a slightly sweet taste. The rice was not exceptional but was fine. I enjoyed the second serving with egg and broth, it was satisfying. (c) The miso soup was made with light bonito broth and had a rural-style yellow miso, which was not to my taste. It only had wakame as an ingredient. Overall, I was satisfied with the meal and left the restaurant feeling content.

When you go down the Kamo River from Shijo Street, you will find a relaxing space where both the master and the staff are very likeable! Every day, fresh sea bream arrives from the master's hometown of Uwajima. The sea bream is aged slightly to bring out its flavor, then marinated in a delicious sweet sauce. Dip it in fresh raw egg in the morning, and place it on top of firm rice for an exquisite sea bream dish! Enjoy this while looking out at the courtyard from the counter ❤

Head Chef Gourmet Memo: A great restaurant where you can enjoy authentic Uwajima sea bream rice - A restaurant where you can have sea bream rice for lunch and à la carte for dinner - Fisherman's meal where you pour sashimi of red sea bream, broth, and egg over rice - Located near the elegant Takase River and Kawaramachi Station, a great location - Homemade soy sauce broth recommended for purchase in sets of 2 I visited the restaurant "Takase River Maki" where you can enjoy the authentic Uwajima sea bream rice from Ehime. As someone who has tried Uwajima sea bream rice in various places, I know its deliciousness. Maki is a branch of "Tai Meshi Maki" located in Matsuyama City, Ehime Prefecture. Additionally, the "Kinkakuji Store" in front of Kinkakuji Temple is the recently opened second store. I had confirmed in advance that the owner is from Uwajima, so my expectations naturally rose. I made a reservation online in advance and visited during lunchtime. Starting from August, it seems that it will be reservation-only. It is located just a few minutes' walk from Hankyu Kawaramachi Station, with a coin parking lot in front of the store. It would be nice to visit while shopping at Takashimaya. Lunchtime is from 11:30 to 14:00. - Sea bream rice set meal ¥2,530 - Sea bream rice mini course ¥3,850 - Sea bream rice full course ¥6,600 or ¥11,000, depending on the occasion This time, I ordered the "Natural Red Sea Bream Uwajima Sea Bream Rice Set Meal" for ¥2,530 including tax. The set meal includes: - Sea bream rice - Seasonal side dish (bracken) - Tamba-grown Kinuhikari rice - Soup Additionally, I also had the following à la carte items: - Uwajima dried fish tempura ¥660 - Draft beer (Premium Malt) I started with the beer and enjoyed the dried fish tempura. It was delicious! The sea bream rice, with its broth, soy sauce, and perfect seasoning, was so tasty. The rice in the rice pot disappeared in no time. The sashimi was nicely matured and had a Kyoto-style touch, which was great. When I thought I wanted more of the broth soy sauce, I found out they have it for takeout! I bought a bottle of homemade broth soy sauce for ¥650 (300ml) without hesitation. Of course, I regret not buying two bottles as it was so good. The umami of the red sea bream, the way the rice was cooked, and the delicious selected eggs are all certain, but I believe that this broth soy sauce plays a central role in Uwajima sea bream rice. If you buy it as a souvenir, there must be a trick that will definitely be appreciated. It seems suitable even as a business gift. The atmosphere of the restaurant and the owner's hospitality were lovely, and I felt that there are still many enjoyable elements in this restaurant. I would like to revisit soon for dinner at this great restaurant.

The third stop! For lunch on the second day, I chose the restaurant "Takasegawa Maaki". Their specialty is natural red snapper from Uwajima served over rice. They offer course meals as well, but this time I went for their most popular option, the lunch set of Natural Red Snapper Uwajima Red Snapper Rice Bowl (2,530 yen per person) by making a reservation in advance. Another reason I chose this restaurant is the beautiful cherry blossoms along the river near the restaurant. As expected, the cherry blossoms were stunning, and surprisingly, there were a lot of people there. Perhaps because of that, the restaurant was bustling with activity. Customers without reservations were waiting outside one after another. I'm glad I made a reservation (^▽^;) By the way, the restaurant has a rating of 3.13 on Tabelog (as of March 2022). The reviews seem decent, but for some reason, the restaurant has a low score! We entered the restaurant at the reserved time of 11:30. I ordered a "Mikan Chuhai" drink. When we waited for about 10 minutes, the rice in a wooden tub was served first, followed by the red snapper rice set. The red snapper soaked in broth, egg yolk, wasabi, miso soup, and a seasonal side dish (blanched radish) were also served. I first tried a bit of the red snapper, then added it to the rice and poured some broth. For the second serving, I added the remaining red snapper and egg to make a rice bowl with egg and red snapper. It was delicious! The red snapper was extremely tasty! They claim it's "naturally caught with one line," and it shows. It's the kind of high-quality red snapper you would expect from a high-class Japanese restaurant! A few years ago, I lined up to eat red snapper rice at a famous restaurant in Kyoto, and I think this red snapper here is much tastier... It might be a matter of preference... Returning to the story... It was so delicious that I ordered an extra serving of just the red snapper. I had another portion. It's nice that you can order additional servings in small increments (^^♪ Please refer to the menu photos. However, the side dish, like the blanched radish, didn't taste as good to me (^^; So, the red snapper rice is undeniably delicious, but as for other dishes... I'll have to try them next time... They do offer course meals up to 16,500 yen (including tax), so I'd like to challenge that if I have the chance (~_~;) For now, it seems like I made a good choice of restaurant (^O^) The low-score delicious restaurant search tour. So far, it's going well with satisfactory results! I'm heading to the final restaurant now (~o~) Thank you for the meal.

I was taken there in January of this year. It was so delicious that I cried. The staff at the restaurant were polite, and the atmosphere inside was quiet and comfortable. The food was so delicious from the beginning that I ate it carefully. The second photo of the fish, I think it was Nore Sole, had a strange texture and appearance that was delicious and left a lasting impression.

Ehime-based restaurant "Taimeshi Makki" has opened a sister store in Shijo Kawaramachi following the success of their store in Kinkakuji. Located in Nishikiyamachi, the restaurant offers a serene atmosphere with a view of a traditional townhouse garden, where you can enjoy "Nama Taimeshi" made with fresh red snapper in a traditional Japanese style. Taimeshi, which originated from fishermen in Uwajima mixing rice with their catch on board ships, has evolved into the current style of dipping sashimi in a special soy sauce broth. You can order the Uwajima Taimeshi set meal for 2530 yen, featuring red snapper caught in the Seto Inland Sea and aged to enhance its flavor, served with a homemade slightly sweet soy sauce. After savoring the dish, you can place the fish on top of the rice and finish with a luxurious tamagokake gohan (egg over rice). The rice is served in an ohitsu (wooden rice container), allowing for unlimited refills. The seasonal side dish was a vinegar-marinated junsai (water shield) that complemented the sweetness of the pear. It was a truly satisfying lunch experience.

A hidden gem that is not too crowded even on weekends. You can compare between natural and farmed Thai fish. Is the Tai Omotenashi popular because it looks good? The bowl was delicious with broth already poured over it. Plenty of condiments and lots of wasabi mixed in are recommended.

Instagram → megubooo is being updated at the fastest pace ☆ https://www.instagram.com/megubooo/. This place opened last year. Due to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic, there were only two groups, including us, for lunch on weekdays. The restaurant is not very spacious, but it's nice to be able to have a quiet meal. I ordered the sea bream rice bowl set for ¥2,300, which uses natural sea bream from Uwajima. The side dishes were million-stone turnip and snow crab ankake on Kyoto tofu. The miso soup is made with Ehime miso. It's gentle yet the miso and dashi are rich, and it warms the body. My father had a second serving of miso soup. He thought it was made with white miso from Kyoto, but since Uwajima is famous for sea bream rice, I wonder if the owner is from Ehime? Laughing aside, placing the sea bream sashimi on the rice, pouring the dashi, and mixing it with the egg yolk... The chewy meat and sweet soy sauce dashi are amazing. And the egg yolk goes well with this dashi. I wish I had eaten it right after the rice finished cooking. It was slightly firm. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal. ☆
