Kyoto Uoman This restaurant is located on Toji-dori Street in Kyoto, near Toji Temple. It is just a 10-minute walk from JR Kyoto Station Hachijo Exit. When I visited last year at the end of the year without an appointment, they were unable to accommodate me due to preparing New Year's dishes. So, this time, I made a reservation before visiting. Let's go inside now. I made a reservation for a Makunouchi bento box for 2,200 yen over the phone. When I called, I was told that they no longer offer the Toji Bento or Hangetsu Bento that were previously on the menu. The father's response during the reservation process left a good impression on me. Inside, it was on the second floor. Despite it being lunchtime, there were no other customers. It felt like having the place all to myself. I ordered a beer to enjoy while waiting. The Makunouchi bento exceeded my expectations. The sashimi was beautifully presented with a variety of side dishes. This may be the specialty of the restaurant. It is clear that the restaurant has a lot of skill in preparing various intricate dishes. Lastly, there was a simmered dish. I was able to fully enjoy Kyoto cuisine. It seems like the restaurant mainly focuses on catering, but it may not be getting the recognition it deserves. Providing such a high-quality bento for around 2,000 yen is truly remarkable. Perhaps for the locals, this is sufficient. I hope this restaurant near Toji Temple continues to thrive.

First time visiting this restaurant! I was brought here by someone who said it was delicious last time. The atmosphere of the restaurant is small and simple, without much decoration, but the seats are almost full even though it's before noon! Maybe because the Day of the Ox is coming soon? About 80% of the customers are ordering eel. We ordered the Makunouchi set for 1500 yen. The waiting time is a bit long. As expected from a bento shop, the box is packed full. It's nice to be able to try a little bit of various dishes. The tempura was freshly fried. Personally, I thought the miso soup was delicious! I think it's a good value for the money, so if you come to Toji Temple during your trip to Kyoto, I think it's a hidden gem where you can enjoy Kyoto cuisine affordably. Thank you for the meal♡

At my parents' house, when we have guests over, we often order bento boxes from Takamanzan. I have never ordered them myself, so I don't know the exact price, sorry. The bento boxes contain a wide variety of items, so many that it's difficult to list them all! The flavors are all very gentle, so you can keep eating until the end without getting tired of it. Personally, I think the only thing that could be improved is that the rice can be a bit mushy... Everything else is perfect! I always finish every last bite!

I have been attending study sessions day after day, feeling a bit tired. The only enjoyment I have is the delicious bento box. Kyoto has a well-developed bento culture, with many famous restaurants offering bento boxes. This time, I tried this bento for the first time. From the name of the shop, I expected a bento box with a focus on seafood, but the contents were quite standard. The fish was grilled mackerel, which was tasty. The rice was well-cooked and delicious. The other ingredients were also decent.

I ordered a bento box (I forgot the price) and it was delicious!! You can tell they use high-quality ingredients. The flavors were light and subtle, which is not usually my preference, but it still made my taste buds sing. My parents also loved it. As we were leaving, a young man (probably the son) asked us if we needed an umbrella because it was raining. How kind! The service was outstanding. I would love to visit again.

At Kyoto's Toji Temple, there is a traditional takeout restaurant called "Uoman" that has been around for 100 years. I chose the delicious natural sea bream rice porridge for 850 yen and the box sushi with conger eel for 850 yen. I enjoyed the hearty Kyoto-style flavored natural sea bream by simmering it at home.
