I participated in the Maizuru Maritime Self-Defense Force Curry Stamp Rally. I ordered the Maritime Self-Defense Force Curry, while my wife had the Thick Tamago (Egg) Sandwich. The Maritime Self-Defense Force Curry was a Keema Curry with a rich flavor and mild spiciness. The addition of the onsen tamago (soft-boiled egg) gave it a smooth texture, making it a gentle Keema Curry. The set came with salad and homemade pickles, priced at 1,320 yen, which was reasonable. Out of the 10 Maritime Self-Defense Force Curry shops, one has closed. The Thick Tamago Sandwich was delicious, with a fluffy rolled omelette inside. The service from the staff was excellent!

I stopped by for lunch while driving. Both the Chicken Keema Curry from Maidzuru Kaiji Curry Hiuchi and the Sausage and Black Hayashi Sauce Omurice were delicious. The Keema Curry is spicy, while the Omurice has a gentle flavor. It was nice to enjoy a meal by the window with a view of the sea.

This place, commonly known as the Sea Fishing Park, is a valuable cafe that warms up your chilled body while sea fishing. The high ceiling and the view overlooking the sea make for a comforting moment as you watch the rough waves of the Sea of Japan. The coffee itself is ordinary, but it tastes better in the atmosphere. 😊

Dessert by the seaside. The wind is a bit strong, so I enjoyed my dessert while looking at the waves through the window from the terrace. It was unexpectedly delicious. Thank you for the meal.

I was surprised! The taste was unexpectedly delicious. I ordered the Fisherman's Style Pescaatore, with local sea bass on the side. It took about 15 minutes for the order to arrive. During that time, cold water was served in a wine bottle for some reason. Quite interesting. Finally, the dish was served. The spaghetti was flat and reminded me of ramen noodles. The texture was just right, not too firm or too soft - perfectly al dente. It had clams and mussels on top. I also tried the local sea bass on a separate plate. Despite being thinly sliced, the fish had a satisfying chewiness. It was so good that I couldn't help but say it out loud. I entered the restaurant a little after 12 PM and it was relatively empty. The location seemed a bit off the beaten path from Maizuru Port, and the customers were mostly tourists and fishermen. However, I would definitely want to visit this place again when I'm in the area. Thank you for the meal.

I visited this cafe with a view of the sea in mind. It is located at the sea fishing area in Maizuru Oyako Sea Park. While the lunch set looked tempting, this time I decided to go for dessert. Since there didn't seem to be a set menu, I ordered a coffee and a slice of cake separately. The cakes are displayed at the entrance, so it's important to check them out beforehand. The seating inside the cafe includes a counter and tables, but of course, I recommend the counter seats facing the sea. There are two chairs placed in three sets. This time, I chose a chiffon cake that looked quite substantial. First, the cake. The way it was presented in the display case was very stylish. And for only 350 yen, it was a great value. Since it's located at the sea fishing park, you can see many fishermen on the terrace across. Enjoying coffee while watching what the fishermen catch can be a relaxing experience.

In mid-March, I visited this restaurant for a late lunch. They were kind enough to accommodate us even though we arrived close to closing time. There was a bit of a wait due to the kitchen being busy, but the service was polite and sincere. The restaurant has a glass-walled, open atmosphere by the sea, which can be a bit bright on sunny days. I ordered the local octopus pasta set for around 1400 yen. The appetizer was fish carpaccio with some vegetables, surprisingly delicious. The minestrone soup was full of vegetables and well-cooked, very tasty. They also served homemade bread with olive oil, quite authentic. The main pasta dish was small but paired well with the side of sea bream. The sea bream was fresh and flavorful, a unique way to enjoy fresh fish in Maizuru. The set also included dessert and a drink, a high-quality service that exceeded the price. Despite slightly longer wait times during busy periods, the overall satisfaction was high. I would definitely visit again, even just for the cafe.

From Amanohashidate to Maizuru! I visited a sea cafe recommended by a friend. It is a branch of Fururu Farm nearby, using ingredients from Maizuru. The view unique to a sea cafe is very calming. The interior is spacious with large glass windows, so you can see the mountains and the sea from any seat. There is also a terrace seat available, but it was still cold so we chose the counter seat inside. You can see people fishing by the seaside. It's so peaceful. We ordered the Sea Lunch for ¥1680. The appetizer was fish carpaccio, fresh sashimi from the Sea of Japan! It was delicious with an Italian touch of olive oil and balsamic. There were also vegetables in a bagna cauda style, all from Maizuru. The soup was minestrone, and the grilled fish was tasty. I can't remember what kind of fish it was... The sweet potato chips were sweet and delicious! It was slightly bland but cooked just right. You can choose rice or bread, and I chose bread. One was a walnut bread, crispy and delicious. The other pink one turned out to be a sakura bread, perfect for spring with sakura leaves and a hint of saltiness. Cute! It came with olive oil too. For dessert, you can choose from several options. I had an apple pie, not too sweet and just right. I would love to visit this place again when I'm in Maizuru! Next time, I want to sit on the terrace!

This place is known for its delicious black Hayashi rice, so I decided to visit. It's been over a year since then, but it seems like a nice place for a date. There is a promenade by the sea, and I saw some people fishing. Next to it, there is a facility that looks like a battleship where kids can play. I had peeked at the exterior a few times before, and I could see a wedding reception on the second floor. The building is made of glass, so you can see inside from the parking lot. Weekday lunches seem like a good deal, but unfortunately, I visited on a Saturday, so the prices were a bit higher for similar items. The vegetable buffet was in the center, but the vegetables looked a bit dry. I ordered a peperoncino pasta and pumpkin soup, while my husband had black Hayashi rice with fried oysters on top. It was decently tasty. I would like to visit again from early spring to summer when the weather is nice. There is only one restroom on the second floor, but there is a public restroom outside the entrance.

At the North Kyuuzan Pier where the Maritime Self-Defense Force Maizuru Regional Base is located, you can tour the ships (Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays from 9:00 to 16:00). On this day, we were lucky to visit the Aegis ship 'Atago'. It was a lucky day. Seeing the ships up close is impressive and the scenery is huge! After the tour, we went for a drive and along the way, there is the Repatriation Memorial Hall. It seems to be managed by Kansai Electric Power. Maizuru Shinminato Park, where the 'El Mar Maizuru' is anchored, has a fishing village revitalization center, a sea fishing area, a sports field, an interaction area, a restaurant, etc., but it is very small (laughs). There were a few people fishing. I even saw an old man walking with an octopus! (I regret not taking a picture!) First, we visited the inside of the ship (free except for the planetarium). Since it is a small ship, we were able to go around quickly. There were models of luxury cruise ships and exhibits. There were many descriptions related to the Titanic. The observation deck is quite small. Today was a windy day, so the ship was rocking a lot, and the air conditioning inside the ship was very hot, making me feel sick, so we quickly left. Next to it, we went to 'Bayside Place M's Deli' for a cup of tea. Hot coffee and milk tea. Both for 350 yen, which is a reasonable price. Well, the taste is... normal, but it feels delicious in the atmosphere. When you order a drink, you get a thin 'rusk' as a service. A little service is always appreciated. There were families there, but it's a good atmosphere for a date while looking at the sea. The shop is also clean. In addition to using the café, they also have lunch, dinner, and party menus. Once you come this far, there are no other shops around, so you are drawn in and end up going in. *If you have children, I recommend 'Uotchi-kan' in Miyazu, which is also run by Kansai Electric Power. They have a fish touch pool and exhibition rooms, and it's also free (but the aquarium is paid). I think it's more fun and enjoyable for children to play there.

On October 6, 2010, I had lunch at "M's deli" in Maizuru Shinkai Park and tried their recommended menu item, "Black Hayashi Rice." The restaurant had a warm and lovely exterior, and inside, there were terrace seats where you could enjoy the view of the sea on sunny days. The Black Hayashi Rice dish I ordered came with a salad bar for ¥980, and I chose the spicy option. The dish had a rich flavor, and the meat melted in my mouth. It was different from any Hayashi Rice I had tried before, more like a "grown-up" version. The spiciness was not like curry, more of a subtle heat without sweetness. The salad bar had a variety of sliced vegetables with different dressings to choose from, although I wished there were more topping options like tomatoes, corn, cucumbers, or seaweed. The restaurant also offered variations of the Black Hayashi Rice dish, such as "Seafood Black Hayashi Rice" and "Kyoto Black Beef Hayashi Rice." The seafood version was tasty with squid, scallops, and shrimp, but I personally preferred the beef version. The restaurant also had sandwich options and an "M's Lunch" menu available on weekdays. The location by the sea with a high ceiling and open atmosphere was lovely, but unfortunately, the staff's service was not very friendly, and their menu explanations were brusque. Overall, a nice dining experience with delicious food, but the service could be improved.

There is a stylish cafe restaurant located in Oyako Park in Maizuru, which is quite far from the city. You have to cross a huge crane bridge to get there. The place offers a view of the sea, and there is an open deck as well. I recommend trying the "Black Hayashi Rice," which is said to be a specialty from the "Tokyo Hayashi Rice Club" in Tokyo Midtown. I chose the spicy version, and it was my first time trying black Hayashi, but it was really delicious. It had a lot of large pieces of meat and was a bit spicy. You can also get a large serving for an additional 250 yen. The set includes a salad bar, which is a nice addition. They also offer "Seafood Black Hayashi Rice" and "Kyotan Kuro Wagyu Black Hayashi Rice." In addition to pasta and desserts, they even have a children's lunch menu. There are banquet rooms on the second floor (reservation required), and they can host parties as well. There is also a planetarium inside a nearby large ship, and they are taking reservations for Christmas, making it a good option for a date. They also serve breakfast on the open deck while enjoying the sea breeze. Takeout for the "Black Hayashi Rice" is also available. Please note that their winter operating hours are from 11:00 to 17:00, which is shorter than usual. I'm planning to visit again once it gets warmer.

I went to eat black hayashi rice. The weather was nice and the location was great! It was crowded because it was lunchtime. Despite there being empty seats, I had to wait probably because there were few staff members. I passed the time watching people fishing. Finally, I was seated and ordered the black hayashi. While waiting for it to arrive, I ate a lot from the salad bar (which was simple). After a considerable wait, the black hayashi arrived. I ate it. Hmm...? It was bitter... As expected from black hayashi, it seemed a bit overcooked and bitter... The meat was too dry and seemed like it had been cooked too long. I also ordered coffee, which was strong... It felt too strong for me, who likes American coffee. However, despite the busy staff, they were trying their best to be friendly. The location is nice, so regardless of the taste, it's recommended for a date.

This restaurant is located within the "Maizuru Shin-kai Park". The park has attractions such as the Kansai Electric Power PR Hall "El Mar Maizuru", fishing spots, and a playground for children. Even though it is not very close to Maizuru city, it gets quite crowded on holidays. The atmosphere of the restaurant is designed to be a healing space by the bay, suitable for families and couples to enjoy. You can enjoy a beautiful view of the Sea of Japan from inside the restaurant, especially in the evening or at night. The main dish is the "Black Hayashi Rice", which has a rich and sweet flavor. There are different variations of Hayashi rice available, such as the "Seafood Hayashi" or the luxurious "Kyotango Black Wagyu Hayashi" made with Kyoto beef. When you order Hayashi rice, you can also enjoy unlimited fresh vegetable salad from the salad bar. In the morning, they serve breakfast sets, for lunch they offer lunch menus, in the afternoon you can enjoy cafe items like sandwiches and cakes, and in the evening during summer, they operate as a beer garden. A recommended way to eat is to order a half-size portion of Hayashi rice and add toppings like shrimp fry or cutlets. The combination of Hayashi rice and fried food is delicious. If you ever visit Maizuru, be sure to check it out!
