Near Ginkaku-ji Temple, you can enjoy a light course meal for around 2000 yen. Whether you find it affordable or not depends on the individual, but if you can relax and enjoy a leisurely time in this location, it feels like it's worth every penny.

I felt hungry so I decided to have a light meal. The restaurant had a calm atmosphere. The kakesoba had a delicious broth that stimulated my appetite as soon as it arrived. The zaru udon had a firm texture despite its simple appearance. Both dishes allowed me to truly enjoy their flavors.

I went to eat Oboro tofu! After visiting Fushimi Inari for the first shrine visit, I came to the area near Ginkaku-ji. It started raining, so I hurriedly went into a restaurant that I hadn't planned to enter. It had a cafeteria-like atmosphere. I ordered the monthly special set meal for 2000 yen. When I tried the Oboro tofu, it was incredibly delicious! When you sprinkle condiments on it, the taste changes again. The set meal included marinated sea bream with kelp, pounded burdock root, seasonal appetizers, and instead of chimaki, it had a wheat gluten bun inside bamboo leaves. It was delicious! It also had shrimp and seasonal tempura, white miso, pickles, and chestnut rice. The miso soup was so delicious! For dessert, there was matcha warabi mochi. I was very satisfied with the kind service and the great value for money! Everything was delicious! If you have time, come visit Princess Cinderella's blog too.

I visited Shirasamuraso for a late lunch. I ordered the monthly special and had a little bit of alcohol. Both were delicious. (Note) You can get a 300 yen discount at Shirasamuraso with the receipt from this restaurant.

Hakusan Sanshou restaurant is located in the atelier of Japanese painter Sekka Hashimoto, surrounded by a tranquil Japanese garden with a tea room. You can enjoy matcha sets and monthly special meals. The menu includes Kyoto-style pressed mackerel sushi and beautiful tempura, reflecting a strong focus on aesthetics and quality. For dessert, try the delicate matcha kuzumochi. After dining, take a stroll along the cherry blossom-lined Philosopher's Path, listening to the gentle flow of the river.

When the season of autumn leaves ended and the cold weather set in, I entered the restaurant without thinking. At first, I thought it was just a typical touristy place in a prime location, serving ordinary food at high prices (especially in Kyoto). However, I was pleasantly surprised. Depending on the menu you choose, it seems they put a lot of effort into selecting quality ingredients and cooking them well. My friend and I ordered the tofu hot pot set. They brought out a small pot with solid fuel to heat it up. The staff lit it up, and soon the vegetables were cooked through, but the tofu was still slightly cold inside. I wondered if the solid fuel was too small... However, when I tasted it, it was amazing. For the first time, I could taste the flavor of soybeans in tofu. When I mentioned this to the person who seemed to be the manager, they explained that they are very particular about selecting tofu. They also explained that the tofu should not be fully cooked in a tofu hot pot, as it is meant to savor the taste of tofu. Overcooking it would cause the tofu's essence to be lost, similar to how overcooking meat would cause the juices to be lost. It's a shame that such a great restaurant with attention to detail has low ratings.

Shrine and temple hopping is enjoyable at this age ♡ Now, before visiting Ginkaku-ji, let's have a little lunch, shall we? It's true, but it seems like all tourist spots have unique vibes with the eateries and souvenir shops along the approach, right? And the prices are super high (-。-; Let's have it here a little away from Ginkaku-ji ♪ ↑ I imagine the closer to the temple, the higher the prices? Well, that might just be my assumption (laughs). Let's go inside by sliding the door! It's a shop located in front of the bus stop, but oh, surprisingly it's not crowded, right? Excuse me, a beer please ♪ Well then, let's start eating! Monthly special meal set with seasonal appetizers ↑ It looked fancy at first glance, but all of it was cold dishes (^^;; It felt like they were pre-made and placed on the plate. I ate it as a side dish with beer! ・Two small dishes (sesame tofu and clam tsukudani) ↑ The clam tsukudani was delicious! ・Shrimp and vegetable tempura ↑ This is freshly fried! I love shrimp! You eat it with tempura dipping sauce! Yep! It's like eating tempura at home! ・Rice, miso soup, pickles ↑ It became the main dish today (laughs) Warm rice and miso soup are the best! I don't eat much rice, but... this was the most delicious! Thanks to that, I'm full now ♪(´ε` ) There was also a sweet treat sprinkled with kinako! By the way... you can add hot tofu to this meal set! ↑ I thought I ordered it, but it didn't go through, so I didn't eat it! A stroke of luck in misfortune (・・;) Soba with herring Store-bought soba? Broth that can be used for udon as well? Herring taken out from a pack?... It was like that kind of soba ヽ(´o`; Your companion seems to be laughing (laughs) People tend to laugh when things get too unpleasant! Scary~ ((((;゚Д゚))))))) Oh my~ Eating at a restaurant along a tourist path... is a sigh ε-(´∀`; ) I think that's how it is, right? But the pricing is questionable (´・Д・)」 Well, let's go sightseeing! Thank you for the meal! ===========

We stopped by on our way to Ginkakuji. We wanted to have a Japanese-style lunch, so we chose this restaurant. It is located next to the Hashimoto Kanzeki Memorial Museum, and the view from the window was nice. We ordered the monthly special set meal for 2,000 yen and some sake. They told us that if we added 200 yen to the set meal, we would also get some Yudofu (hot tofu), so we agreed. The dishes were all in Kyoto style, beautifully presented, and we were able to enjoy Kyoto cuisine easily. The portion was satisfying. We also thought about visiting the Hashimoto Kanzeki Memorial Museum if possible.

I stopped by while strolling near Ginkaku-ji. There were several Kyoto cuisine restaurants in the area, such as yudofu, soba, and obanzai. Since it was lunchtime, I chose this place that seemed reasonably priced and had a nice atmosphere. Shira Sumura-so. I ordered tempura soba, udon, and yudofu. The tempura included shrimp and various Kyoto vegetables. The soba and udon were simple with Kyoto-style dashi, green onions, and decorative kamaboko. I knew what to expect, but I felt a bit unsatisfied. The yudofu was made with silken tofu, shiitake mushrooms, mizuna, and what seemed like Kyoto vegetables. It was also simple with just green onions and ginger as condiments. The yudofu was tasty, but it didn't have any standout Kyoto-style characteristics. However, considering the price of around 4000 yen for tempura soba, udon, and yudofu, I think the cost performance is good.

The taxi driver recommended a restaurant called "Hashimoto" located next to Shiraishi Village Manor, near Ginkaku-ji Temple and the Philosopher's Path. The restaurant serves traditional Japanese cuisine, including dishes like tofu, tempura, and bamboo shoot rice. Although the food was elegant, it lacked a standout flavor. The portion size may be a bit small for men. The price of 1680 yen seemed reasonable, but the overall experience did not quite match the cost. They also offer a la carte dishes and soba noodles for around 900 yen. They were out of local beer during my visit.

I visited this neighborhood restaurant for the first time after taking a walk on the Philosopher's Path. I ordered the "fox udon" for 950 yen. The tempura was thin and not fresh, the broth was too weak, and there was hardly any Kujo green onion in it. It was worse than university cafeteria food! I was surprised that it cost 950 yen. In Kyoto, there are many delicious udon shops that are cheaper and serve bowls filled with plenty of Kujo green onions. Kyoto cuisine is known for its subtle flavors, but even with that, there should be a good taste. Kujo green onions have a sweetness to them and even those who don't like onions can enjoy them. This restaurant near Ginkaku-ji is unusually lazy. If that's the case, they should lower the price to around 260 yen. I hope they study more and improve their food quality.

If you have come all the way to Kyoto, you probably want to try something that is Kyoto-style. However, you may be hesitant due to the high prices and formal atmosphere of many restaurants. In that case, this place near Ginkaku-ji and the Philosopher's Path is perfect for you! You can enjoy the authentic flavors of Kyoto cuisine without breaking the bank. I was able to get a table without a reservation on two separate occasions. For around 2000 yen, you can experience the essence of Kyoto. Located in the former residence of the renowned Taisho and Showa era painter, Sekka Hashimoto, the Hashimoto restaurant offers a set menu including small dishes, appetizers, mini tofu hot pot, tempura, rice, soup, pickles, and dessert for 1680 yen. If you want to dine while enjoying the beautiful garden, you can make a reservation for a more luxurious meal starting from 5000 yen. If you're ever unsure about where to have lunch in Kyoto, be sure to check out this place. For more information, visit http://www.kansetsu.or.jp/hashimoto/.
