The title ended up being full of "Mont Blanc"!! I heard that the original Mont Blanc shop in Japan, "Mont Blanc," will end its current store operations on December 31st at 4:00 pm, so I decided to visit early. They will be operating in a temporary store from February 10th, but it seems that the cafe will not be in operation there, so early visits may be better for those interested in the cafe. "Mont Blanc (MONT-BLANC)" is located a short walk from Jiyugaoka Station. The shop will be closing its store operations here due to redevelopment in the area. The surroundings of the shop have a retro atmosphere of various Western confectionery stores. This shop is known for being the first to sell Mont Blanc in Japan in 1933. Upon entering the shop, there is a store, and the cafe is located at the back. This time, I will have tea here. Currently, the usage time is limited to 1 hour. There are quite a few seats, but it seems that the number of seats has been reduced slightly due to the current situation. The interior of the shop is adorned with many paintings by the painter Seiji Togo. There were more paintings displayed towards the back, so I chose a seat towards the back (please note that there may be rearrangements). Some of the women have lovely expressions, while others have an enchanting atmosphere. With these women watching over me, I want to enjoy tea in a slightly retro table and chair setting. Inside the shop, you can enjoy cakes and baked goods for sale with drinks. Of course, I ordered the "Mont Blanc" cake. After ordering, the cake was brought to me. The "Mont Blanc" costs 867 yen. The yellow chestnut cream on top gives it a nostalgic Mont Blanc feel. The meringue on top is quite large. The chestnut cream uses chestnuts from Ehime Prefecture. It is quite sweet, but the sweetness is subdued, allowing you to taste the chestnuts. The meringue is crispy and chewy. Underneath is a fluffy and creamy buttercream. It is delicious. Between the chestnut cream and the sponge is a buttercream-like layer that I didn't realize was buttercream when I was eating it. The sponge is fluffy and blends well, with sweet chestnut compote and a gentle custard cream inside. (I apologize for the messy cross-section). I enjoyed the original Mont Blanc. I think that these types of Mont Blanc that I ate when I was a child were sweeter (to be honest, I didn't like Mont Blanc when I was a child). This Mont Blanc is also sweet, but the sweetness is not strange, but a flavorful sweetness that allows you to taste the deliciousness of chestnuts. After enjoying a wonderful tea time, I spent some time admiring the paintings displayed on the wall of the store. This is also worth seeing. I visited during the early hours of a holiday, and the cafe was not crowded, allowing me to relax. I think it may get busier as the closing time approaches, so if you are interested in the cafe, it may be a good idea to visit now. I am also looking forward to what the temporary store will be like and what the new store will be like in four years.
