On December 29, 2022, after enjoying the "Tentama Soba" at "Kameya" in Omoide Yokocho around noon, we leisurely strolled and arrived here. We headed to the cafe at the back, ignoring the line in front of the showcase. The interior was still empty, and we sat at a table in the back left corner. I had already decided on the "Inaka Komichi" (mitarashi dango, anmitsu, oshiruko). My wife was debating whether to go for the "Aji no Sanpo" (mitarashi dango, anmitsu, tokoroten) but in the end, she also chose the "Inaka Komichi" like me. First, we tried the mitarashi dango. It was soft and had a nice texture. Delicious! Next was the anmitsu. We first savored the "apple," "kiwi," "cherry," and "apricot" served with it. Then we drizzled the honey over it and immersed ourselves in happiness. We requested a refill of tea at this point. Finally, we faced the oshiruko. It was a supreme moment. Since it would be crowded with people seeking oshiruko after the New Year, my decision to come before the year ended was correct, even though no one praised me. I left the shop, patting myself on the back. On February 2, 2019, at 11:15, I felt like I had forgotten something since the beginning of the year. That's right, "I haven't eaten oshiruko." After shopping at "Sekaido," I entered alone. I have had connections to this area since my childhood, but it was my first time entering this shop. There was a door at the back of the shop, and the space was more spacious than I had expected. There were about three groups of customers, all women. The single-seat tables had a comfortable distance from each other. Despite occasionally feeling uneasy about my back, I was able to sit down without any problems. Without looking at the menu, I simply said, "I'll have the oshiruko, please." I noticed a family at a nearby table receiving their "kishimen." Since I have been taught by my parents since childhood not to peek at other people's things, I didn't look. But I was very curious. I looked at the menu. The price of oshiruko plus something extra. (I'll try that next time.) The oshiruko arrived in about 5 minutes. Conclusion: It was plentiful and incredibly delicious. There were two mochi, and even with my two front false teeth, I could eat it without worry. The price may be a bit high, but the taste was worth it. As I was about to leave, about three more groups came in. A young lady pushing a baby stroller also comfortably entered the shop. While settling the bill, I was tempted by the dango on display, but since I was planning to go to Kinokuniya bookstore, I decided to save the treat for next time.

At the junction of Koshu Kaido and Ome Kaido, there is a famous dumpling shop called Shinjuku Oiwake. The shop has a cafe at the back. I ordered a set of two dumplings for 715 yen. I added matcha to the set. I chose chestnut and sweet bean paste flavors. The dumplings were incredibly soft and almost melted in my mouth. Despite being skewered, they were so delicate that they seemed like they would fall apart if lifted. They were delicious. The matcha had a refined sweetness, and the chestnut paste had a nice balance of sweetness. I also saw other interesting flavors on the menu like shichimi pepper, ginger, honey lemon, and plum with myoga. They have seasonal fillings, so I will have to visit at least four times a year to try them all. It's definitely worth visiting again. The shop was originally opened under the name Yanagiya in 1947, shortly after the war. In 1966, the name was changed to its current one.

This is my first visit. I took a casual stroll in Shinjuku and tried a few snacks before dinner. White sesame and nut paste - 259 yen (tax included) The sweet white sesame paste melted smoothly. It had a pleasant texture, and the mochi inside was fantastic. I could feel the greatness of this long-established shop with 75 years of history. Nori roll - 216 yen It's a classic menu item with mitarashi sauce. It actually highlights the high quality of the shop's products. Sesame sauce - 216 yen Plenty of sesame sprinkled on soy sauce and sweet sauce. Personally, this was the best among the three this time. The interior of the shop is clean, but it seems to have a long history. They don't have a wide variety of items, but I think it's a good shop. I would definitely like to visit again. Thank you for the meal.

Popular for its variety of flavors of dango, a traditional Japanese sweet, this confectionery shop offers a cozy cafe area with available seats even during the busy Saturday lunchtime. I ordered a plate of two dango for 715 yen, choosing mitarashi and koshian flavors. The mochi was soft and melted in the mouth, while the generous amount of sweet soy sauce and red bean paste added a refined touch to the overall taste. Some customers ordered a variety of unique dango to enjoy, and it seems like a fun way to explore different flavors. Thank you for the delicious meal.

Lunchtime dessert after lunch on 09/20 (Thursday) at Tsukigata Dango Honpo Shinjuku Main Store. I had a bean daifuku for 216 yen, paid in cash. The customer service was good, the service was fast, the taste was great, the portion size was good, and the cost performance was good. The balance of beans and sweet red bean paste was just right, the skin was soft and chewy, and the flavor and texture were excellent. I also used it as a shelter from the rain for a bit.

I visited the traditional Japanese sweets shop "Tsugiwake Dango Honpo Shinjuku Honten" located near Shinjuku Sanchome Station on the Marunouchi Line and Fukutoshin Line. It was a hot summer day in Tokyo, with temperatures over 30 degrees. I arrived at the shop around 13:50 on a weekday and there were 12 customers already seated inside, with another 8 customers coming in after me. Half of the customers were enjoying shaved ice desserts, including 4 foreign tourists who ordered shaved ice when I arrived. I ordered the "Uji Kanetoki" for 1485 yen, which consisted of fragrant Uji matcha and Hokkaido red beans on top of a lightly sweetened zenzai paste made by the skilled artisans at Tsugiwake Dango. As I ate, I discovered more zenzai paste at the bottom of the glass, making me feel like I got a bonus treat. It was a delicious experience. Thank you for the meal!

I came to Tsujimatsu Dango Main Store near the intersection where Shinjuku 3-chome, Shinjuku Street, and Meiji Street meet. You can buy individual dango sticks, and they have a wide variety of flavors. In addition to the classic sweet dango, they also offer unique options like plum and myoga. I started with a traditional koshian dango stick. The mochi was soft, not overly sweet, and the koshian filling was smooth and just the right amount of sweetness. This was delicious. Thank you for the meal!

For takeout, each dumpling is individually packaged so they don't get squished, which is great! I bought three flavors: mitarashi, matcha an, and adult mitarashi. They all had to be eaten on the same day, so I chose carefully. The dumplings were chewy and had a nice texture. The mitarashi was sweet and delicious! The matcha an had a strong matcha flavor, and the deliciousness of the dumpling itself was most evident in this one. But my favorite was the adult mitarashi! It had a spicy kick from shichimi pepper, and it was just so delicious. I definitely want to go back for more.

I couldn't forget the delicious dumplings I had once in the store, so I made a detour on my way back from the movies. There were two types of mitarashi dumplings, the classic mitarashi and the adult mitarashi. The classic one had just the right amount of sweet and salty flavor, and the dumplings were so soft they melted in my mouth. The adult version had a strong taste of sansho pepper, giving it a flavor similar to eel sauce. It was really delicious. I also bought two types of soy sauce dumplings, the classic one and the one with ginger. They were both delicious! I had tried the dumplings with myoga and plum before, and this time they were just as shockingly delicious. The refreshing taste of myoga and the sourness of plum matched perfectly with the soft dumplings. I will keep eating them as long as they are available. They are still the most delicious dumplings I have ever had.

I bought anko dango and mitarashi dango here, which are located right next to Isetan, selected as one of the top 100 stores. They are delicious and reasonably priced. However, I couldn't really tell the difference. Personally, I would prefer buying from one of the many stores in Isetan's basement rather than coming here just for dango. There are also stores selling dango there. Isetan's basement stores are the best!

In Shinjuku, there is a famous Japanese sweets shop. It is the main store in Shinjuku, and there are no branch stores. Even though I pass by it every day, I had never actually gone in because it was too close. Today, I decided to go because I happened to pass by right before closing time and everything was 30% off. They only had three types of sweets left - mitarashi dango, matcha an, and red bean paste. I was in the mood for mitarashi dango, so I happily bought it at a discounted price. The size was average for a dango, and the mochi was soft and stretchy, very delicious. There was a faintly fragrant aroma as well. The sauce was the typical sweet and salty flavor you find with mitarashi dango. It didn't have anything particularly special about it, so for the price, it was a bit lacking. But I don't think a shop like Oiwake Dango would only have this level of quality! I would like to visit again another time. Thank you for the meal!

Mitara-shi dango is very smooth. The mitara-shi sauce is not too sweet and not too heavy. It is a classic mitara-shi dango. The yomogi koshi-an is extremely delicious! A must-try! I went on a weekday at 3 pm, but the sweet bean daifuku was already sold out. What a shame.

I always end up stopping by because it's near Isetan. This time, I was planning to get anmitsu, but I changed my mind when I saw they still had boiled chestnuts. I ended up getting the following: - Boiled Chestnuts with Ice Cream for 1793 yen I briefly thought there might not be enough syrup, but the amount was just right and I enjoyed it to the last bite. The boiled chestnuts were soft and delicious. I heard that they might have boiled chestnuts until the end of September this year. I will definitely get anmitsu next time...

The dumpling set is 750 yen and the cream anmitsu is 1450 yen (I think?). The red bean paste is incredibly smooth! When you scoop it with a spoon, you can feel the silky texture on your fingertips. One bite and it feels like it's melting in your mouth. The perfect balance of sweetness, not too sweet but just right, with a smooth finish that leaves your mouth feeling refreshed. The dumplings are also soft. It's amazing how they can make dumplings this soft. They recently started serving shaved ice too, and many people were ordering it, but it's like the ramen Jiro "extra extra" of shaved ice (lol), it's just too much after a meal. However, you can tell the fruits are fresh. I imagine they use high-quality ice, giving it a fluffy texture. This experience taught me a lot about perfecting dumplings and anmitsu.

After eating ramen in Ebisu, I wanted to go to the Peace Memorial Museum in Shinjuku and check out the sauna product exhibition, but it was too crowded with a 3-hour wait! So, I decided to go for sweets instead and ended up at this shop that was featured on Matsumoto's show. The shop had a traditional atmosphere and I was drawn to the cream anmitsu with shiratama topping. The tea was delicious and comforting. When the anmitsu arrived, it was amazing with apricot and seasonal fruits like Kyoho grapes on top. The mochi texture of the gyuhi and shiratama was so good! The red bean paste and beans were tasty, and the black honey was rich and sweet. The agar jelly had a nice crunch to it, which was perfect. Old-fashioned anmitsu is truly delicious. I'll go to the Peace Museum first and then head to the sauna. Thank you for the meal!

There were also overseas visitors, and there was a line at the cafe. I think I waited for about 15 minutes. There were many types of rice cakes, and I couldn't decide between two types, but this time I chose a set of Mitarashi dango, tokoroten, and anmitsu. The rice cakes were soft, and the Mitarashi sauce coated them well. The anmitsu and tokoroten were in mini sizes, just the right amount. I also bought umemyoga, black sesame, and adult Mitarashi as souvenirs, and enjoyed the slightly unusual combinations.

This is a dumpling shop in Marui in Shinjuku. I have been curious about it for years and finally got to go. The dumplings with matcha red bean paste were simply delicious, with a taste of Japanese tradition. I also want to try the mitarashi dumplings, but I couldn't help but try the adult version with shichimi spice mixed in. It has a unique flavor that could become addictive.

Recommended by a friend, I purchased a variety of colorful dango (Japanese dumplings) at this store. They cost around 200-300 yen each. Just looking at the colorful dango lined up in the store made me feel excited. This was my first time trying them, so I bought the basic smooth red bean paste, yomogi (mugwort) smooth red bean paste, mitarashi (soy sauce-based) flavor, and the "adult" mitarashi. The "adult" mitarashi was highly recommended by my friend. It's a sophisticated and elegant dango with a blend of sansho pepper and shichimi (seven spice blend), as the name suggests. Eating it made me feel like a grown-up. The red bean paste was also delicious. Next time, I want to try unique flavors like white bean paste, sesame, matcha bean paste, and shichimi.

First visit to a famous shop nationwide specializing in a certain genre of "shaved ice" has also been published in a specialty book. Let's do our best to master it, although whether we can is another story. This shop always has a line on weekends in the afternoon. Passing by on a weekday evening, I was able to enter smoothly. However, the shop was almost full inside. I ordered the following: - 1265 yen: Apricot shaved ice - 110 yen: Topping (3 pieces of white dumplings) The food was served in about 10 minutes. Here are my impressions: [Apricot shaved ice] - It was quite voluminous for the price. - At first, it tasted just right, but it became extremely sweet as I got used to it... I had to give up halfway. [White dumplings] - Since it's a dumpling shop, I tried it just in case. There was nothing particularly noteworthy about it. - When I tried to add it on top, it slipped off, so I made a dent and embedded it.
