Hello ( ̄Д ̄)ノ It's so hot, so hot, so hot in Kyoto~. In the midst of this heat, I visited a ramen shop that caught my eye in Kyoto Station's Ramen Alley. The shop is here... #MenyaKotetsu Kyoto Ramen Alley Store (901 Higashishio-koji-cho, Karasuma-dori Shijo-sagaru, Kyoto Station Building 10F, Kyoto Ramen Alley). I had visited this shop before. I arrived a bit early around lunchtime, and there was almost no line, so I quickly purchased a meal ticket from the machine! |・ω・`)フムフム, it seems like a Sapporo miso ramen specialty shop. They have Sapporo Aged Miso, Shrimp Miso, White Miso, and various types of miso ramen to try, as well as side dishes like Zangi (fried chicken)!! Well, should I go for the default option first? That's what the foodie in me is saying (´-ω-)ウム. Since I'm here, maybe I should splurge a bit! I ordered the most popular item, the Special Meat Topping Aged Miso for 1280 yen. Since Hokkaido is known for Zangi, I also ordered the Jumbo Zangi for 280 yen. This should go well with rice, right? So, I also got a medium rice for 180 yen! I handed the meal ticket to the staff and sat at the counter as directed. There were pepper and addictive shichimi (for ramen) on the table. After a short wait... ⚫️Special Meat Topping Aged Miso, Jumbo Zangi, Medium Rice Total: 1740 yen. Wow ♡. The ramen was full of pork belly Zangi overflowing from the bowl, topped with green onions, seaweed, wood ear mushrooms, flavored egg, chopped ginger, and nori! The rice portion was modest (´nωn`). The Jumbo Zangi (on a plate) was like the fried chicken from a convenience store. I immediately tried the soup... Hmm, the soup was flavorful and rich without being too heavy. I was expecting a more robust and aggressive soup, but it was different. However, it felt a bit lacking as a meal. Oh no, I forgot to order buttered corn as a topping! That's a shame. I sprinkled some shichimi from the table and it added a nice spicy kick. The yellow curly noodles were perfect for the miso ramen, with a good texture that held up well with the soup. The ample amount of pork belly and pork Zangi were delicious, and I enjoyed the rice too. However, as I got towards the end, the heavy fat from the pork Zangi started to feel a bit overwhelming. Well, with Jumbo Zangi, special miso ramen, and rice, it was a hearty meal... I regret not thinking it through before ordering. I managed to finish it with some struggle, as the intense heat of Kyoto's summer was taking a toll on me. Maybe it's my age, feeling a bit overwhelmed by the fried food oiliness. Next time, I'll try the shrimp miso with buttered corn, Zangi, and rice. Thank you, and bon appétit! ===========
