タケマシュラン
Germoglio is an Italian restaurant located about a 10-minute walk north from Kyoto Station along Karasuma Street and west along Shichijo Street. It is situated opposite the entrance to Yodobashi Camera's parking lot, next to Higashi Honganji Temple in a building called Neo Hills Building. The restaurant has a cozy atmosphere with a counter seating for four and two tables, accommodating around 10 guests. The chef, Shogo Amiya, a Kyoto native, honed his skills in Italian cuisine in Italy before opening Germoglio in 2018. The ambiance is welcoming, making it a pleasant dining experience. They offer a selection of Italian wines starting from around 1,500 yen per glass. I started with a craft beer from Italy, which was fruity and aromatic, perfect for a hot day. The Polenta chips with pork mousse and summer truffle were a luxurious snack, while the Corn Biancomangiare with swordtip squid was a refreshing combination. The Swordfish and Panzanella, a bread salad, offered a sophisticated flavor profile. The homemade bread made from domestic wheat and natural yeast was juicy and flavorful. The Lamb Tripe, however, had a strong odor that may not be to everyone's liking. The Cold Pasta with zucchini and saltwater sea urchin was light and flavorful, with a generous portion size. The main course, Lamb Lamp, was robust and elegant, accompanied by a stuffing made from various lamb parts for added texture and taste. The Risotto with swordtip squid was rich and delicious. The dessert, Melon compote with milk gelato, was a simple yet exquisite treat. The meal ended with tea and herbal tea. The course menu cost around 12,000 yen, plus drinks, tax, and service charge, totaling around 20,000 yen per person. Overall, Germoglio offers high-quality and contemporary Italian cuisine at a reasonable price. Its proximity to Kyoto Station makes it convenient for enjoying a leisurely dinner before catching the last Shinkansen train. I look forward to visiting again during the cherry blossom season for a lunchtime hanami experience.
