This is a restaurant located along the straight road to Sanzen-in Temple where you can enjoy a slightly luxurious lunch. The generous lunch servings allow you to savor a variety of vegetables with natural sweetness. You can relax and enjoy your meal while looking out at the garden. The only downside is that it is a popular restaurant, so you may have to wait for 30 minutes to 1 hour. Please make sure to arrive with plenty of time to spare.

I went to have lunch that features Kyoto vegetables! Three years ago, I visited Daikakuji Temple in Kyoto. Along the way, I found this wonderful restaurant! It's a charming traditional Japanese-style restaurant, with a menu outside that is surprisingly not too expensive. The approach from the main gate to the entrance is lovely! Hydrangeas are welcoming visitors at this time of year. Upon entering the entrance, you take off your shoes on the wooden floor and step inside. The view from the window... the beautiful greenery is so refreshing. Inside, it's mostly women. Everyone seems to be here for the healthy vegetable lunch, right? After a while, it arrived. This is the highly recommended vegetable-rich lunch for 2200 yen. Vegetables harvested in Rakuhoku, with chicken for the fried dish. The Kamo eggplant is so soft and delicious! The grilled eggplant with miso sauce, simmered eggplant, I love eggplant so this is just the best! Originally a dressing company, the salad dressing is also refreshing and delicious! As I left, I gazed at the waterwheel for a while. It was so delicious! If you come to Ohara, I highly recommend having lunch here! The staff's customer service is excellent, very kind. They have a strong commitment to Kyoto vegetables, and they were generous in sharing tips and recipes, even offering to call if I had any questions... so kind. The ladies will definitely love this place. It was so delicious, I really recommend it! If you have time, come visit Princess Cinderella's blog, Instagram, and YouTube!

On Sunday, November 20, 2022, I visited Yasaianchi in Kyoto for a total of ¥2750, including tax and service charge. I had lunch at a high-end restaurant called "Yasaianchi" near the famous Sanzenin Temple in Ohara, Kyoto. The restaurant had a luxurious ambiance, but unfortunately, the food was not up to par. The vegetables were particularly bad, and I even left some chicken uneaten, which is something I have never done before. This experience was quite unexpected for me, as I usually do not leave food uneaten, even at fast-food chains. It seems that Kyoto's cuisine has a unique and strong flavor profile that may not suit everyone. In my opinion, restaurants in Kyoto can be quite challenging due to various factors such as the need for reservations, personal questions from staff, and unexpected behavior. Therefore, I have decided to stick to restaurants in Kyoto that do not require reservations in the future to avoid such experiences.京都の飲食店は鬼門でありとんでもないことが起こりうるということだと思います。

I was really hungry. I didn't want to miss lunchtime, so I decided to stop at a restaurant along the approach to Ohara Sanzen-in. It's a cozy dining place that used to be the Ohara Folklore Museum. They pride themselves on using local vegetables from Kyoto Ohara for their lunch dishes. The atmosphere inside is relaxing and spacious, fitting the tranquil vibe of Ohara. I ordered the "Yasairanchi" (¥2200), which came with a salad made with fresh crunchy vegetables, simmered daikon, sweet potatoes, carrot salad, and a stir-fry with chili peppers. The colorful presentation, highlighting the variety of vegetables, is sure to appeal to women. The red bowl looked nice, but... the flavors were a bit lacking. Perhaps it's because of the Kyoto style or the focus on enjoying the natural flavors of the vegetables, but still... a bit bland (laughs). In addition to the vegetables, there was also "fried chicken" included. The crispy coating, possibly made with koji, had a nice crunch, but again, a bit bland (laughs). I appreciate the concept of enjoying Kyoto vegetables in traditional side dishes, but it seems that as a meat-loving lady of a certain age, it wasn't quite my cup of tea.

I enjoyed some early autumn foliage at Jissouin Monzeki and then continued north to explore Ohara. Before that, I stopped by Shino Matsumon for a meal. The entrance with lush moss already sets the tone for a charming atmosphere. The interior of the restaurant also exudes a similar vibe, perfect for a leisurely meal. I tried the famous Yuba Yudofu dish, beautifully presented with seasonal autumn touches. The dipping sauce with grated daikon and ponzu was a nice touch, and the Yudofu and Yuba were delicious. I also indulged in my favorite dish, nama-fu, which made me want to sip on sweet potato shochu or sake, but unfortunately, I was the designated driver that day, so I had to settle for imagining it. The simmered dish and thick fried tofu were also delicious, with a truly Kyoto-style seasoning that made for a satisfying meal. It's no wonder this restaurant is so popular. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

Suspicious Gourmet Exploration Team in Kyoto Expedition. We arrived in Kyoto. It's a bit early for cherry blossom season, but that means we can avoid the crowds and focus on our food log activities. After visiting Ohara Sanzenin, we had lunch. We decided to try Shino Matsumon, located along the approach. The restaurant is in a traditional Japanese house with a water mill nearby, creating a charming atmosphere. It was a holiday, but there were still plenty of seats available. The lunch menu offers an assortment of eight small dishes and vegetable dishes (2000 yen excluding tax), an assortment of small dishes and pork cutlets (2500 yen excluding tax), and other options like hitsumabushi. I wanted to try both vegetables and meat, so I chose the small dishes and pork cutlets. The vegetable salad was fresh and delicious, with a refreshing yuzu dressing. The main plate included several small dishes and pork cutlets, both of which were delicious. The prices are a bit on the expensive side, but the calm atmosphere made the experience worthwhile. It was very delicious.

I had a lunch that used a lot of local vegetables. I used to hate green onions, but surprisingly I ate them all!
