When it comes to conveyor belt sushi, at our home it's usually a choice between the cheap chain restaurants "Kura Sushi" and "Sushiro." Recently, we went to "Hama Sushi," which has been increasing in number of stores in Kyoto prefecture. It had been a while since we last visited Hama Sushi. A few years ago, I was impressed by the variety of soy sauce options available to match the sushi. This time, the impression was the same. The menu was unfamiliar, which was nice. The seared salmon and cheese sushi (110 yen) wasn't the type where the cheese melts a lot.

Clam and seaweed udon 308 yen Mackerel pressed sushi 110 yen Kohada (gizzard shad) 110 yen x 3 Inari (sesame) 110 yen [Total] 858 yen I came here today with the intention of eating about half of this. The portion was quite elegant... The saltiness was a bit too strong for me, but there was plenty of seaweed in it and it was delicious. Mackerel pressed sushi for 110 yen, nothing more to say... I originally planned to order 2 or 3 of these, but I changed my mind at the last minute. The kohada could have had a bit more vinegar, but it was tasty. I'm satisfied. Thank you for the meal. P.S. I wish they would stop using black plates. The reflection of light makes it difficult to take photos.

It's been a while since I went to Hama Sushi. The restaurant was spacious and clean. I was surprised by the low prices. Some of the sushi pieces were surprisingly thin, which made me think they could raise the prices a bit more for better quality. Overall, it was more than satisfying.

I visited around 11 o'clock on 2/28. There didn't seem to be any congestion, and I was able to smoothly find a seat. I forgot to take a photo, but the yellowtail was delicious. The tuna was also tasty. I realized I forgot to take a photo after eating everything, so all I have left to mention is the popular beef kalbi (150 yen) and one shrimp tempura (100 yen) - what a blunder. Overall, everything was delicious and satisfying. Thank you for the meal.

This is the Matsui Yamate branch of the revolving sushi chain "Hamazushi". I visited around 11 o'clock on a Sunday. I was able to enter smoothly at 11 o'clock, but by the time I finished eating, there were many customers waiting. The restaurant is located near Matsui Yamate Station, but it is not facing the main street of Yamate Kansen and is located a little south of the main street. The exterior of the store is the basic form of a suburban Hamazushi store, with a parking lot available. Inside the store, the entrance area serves as a waiting area. There are table seats and counter seats lined up, creating a clean and comfortable atmosphere. The reception at the table is mainly done through a machine, so there is no face-to-face interaction, but the payment is done face-to-face. The service from the staff was polite. On this day, I ordered the following items: Rich! Creamy Shrimp Tomato Pasta priced at 506 yen including tax. The appearance of this menu looks quite expensive. The creamy shrimp tomato sauce looks rich with plenty of sauce. It comes with two whole shrimp and parsley powder. The pasta is cooked just right with a firm texture and a good bite. The soup has a burst of shrimp aroma at first, and you can enjoy the rich flavor of shrimp when mixed with the pasta. The tomato flavor is also decent, creamy, and leaves a lingering aftertaste. The two whole shrimp add a satisfying eating experience. I think it was a pasta worth the price. Scallop, Grilled Sanma, Pickled Firefly Squid, Black Seabream The scallop is from Hokkaido and has a large, good texture with a satisfying bite. The grilled Sanma is also from Hokkaido, with a good amount of fat and a soft texture, which was nice. The pickled firefly squid has a rich umami flavor and seems to go well with sake. Large Seared Kinu Gizzard Shad, Fresh Flounder Fisherman's Pickled, Natural Bluefin Tuna Tataki Sushi The large seared Kinu Gizzard Shad is from Miyagi Prefecture, and although it doesn't have much searing, it has a good amount of fat, juicy, good texture, and makes you want to eat more. The fisherman's pickled fresh flounder was also large and good. This was my first visit to Hamazushi's Matsui Yamate branch, but with the cleanliness of the store, a wide range of menu options at reasonable prices, I thought it was a store that I would like to visit again.

I visited in the early evening and was able to enter without waiting in line. It was the midsummer day of the Ox, so I decided to have some eel. I ordered using a touch panel, which was now located below the counter for easier access compared to before. The eel was brought directly to my table in a takeout container. It was delicious and tender, and the side of rolled omelette was good. There was plenty of wasabi, and the tea-cured rice seemed to be more suited for those making ochazuke. I found it a bit annoying that I had to select "half rice" for each item on the touch panel, even though I didn't need it. Also, I couldn't order multiple dishes at once on the touch panel, so I had to place separate orders for each dish, which was a bit cumbersome due to the machine's voice confirming each order. The miso soup had a generous amount of seaweed and was tasty. I was able to receive a free perk using a coupon from the app. The issue arose during payment. The area around the cashier was crowded with people entering, making it hard to distinguish those paying from those waiting. It wasn't fully automated, so there was a line forming as customers waited for the staff to return. The taste was good overall, but in the competitive sushi restaurant scene near Matsuiyamate, these operational issues stood out.

I couldn't smoke cigarettes, but I could use PayPay. It had been a while since I went, and the quality was really good. It was so delicious that I got hooked. Whether it's for COVID-19 measures or to reduce food waste, the lanes had products flowing through after ordering on the touch panel. I want to go again.

I came here again to use my shareholder benefits voucher. It's nice that it's not crowded on weekday evenings. It's cool to see young women enjoying sushi alone. I also enjoyed sushi alone at the counter seat. I had 23 plates of ¥90 sushi, and I was quite full. The seared tuna with black pepper was delicious. The fatty mackerel and shiny sardines were consistently tasty. The salted pork kalbi had a delicious aroma. They have various soy sauces, and I tried the yuzu ponzu soy sauce for the first time today. It was refreshing and brought out the flavor of the sushi. With a full stomach, the bill of ¥2,277 was a good deal. It took a bit long from ordering to arrival using the touch panel today, which was a bit frustrating, but I understand it must be tough. I will likely come back to use my voucher again. I also want to try the limited ramen. Thank you for the meal!

I visited for the first time. I looked up the menu online, made my order, and went with high expectations. I arrived around 3 pm and found it easy to park in the spacious parking lot. There are plenty of spots that seem beginner-friendly, where you can drive in forward and drive out without having to back up. Upon entering the restaurant, I pressed the terminal and got my seat number. First, I tried to order a drink... but they were out of bottled beer? Unbelievable! I ended up ordering a small draft beer for over 500 yen, which was too expensive for the small amount. If the price is the same, I would have preferred a larger bottle of beer instead of the small draft. It's hard to believe they ran out of bottled beer by midday. My excitement dropped and I lost my appetite. On the positive side, they had a variety of 3-piece sushi sets for only 150 yen, so you could try a lot of different types and reduce the amount of rice. They also had a good selection of fried foods and ramen. I felt that this restaurant was considerate of women and children. The fish slices were smaller than at other places, almost like they were forgotten somewhere. The seafood tasted fresh without any fishy smell, but the fattiness was lacking. I was disappointed as I wanted to enjoy sushi with my beer. My family members who came with me said that they only stopped by because it was on the way, and they didn't think it was worth making a special trip to eat there. They felt that our favorite conveyor belt sushi place nearby was good enough. For me, running out of bottled beer is like a sushi restaurant running out of tuna. Despite my high expectations and research beforehand, a return visit seems unlikely (laughs).

I came here for the first time in six months. I also wanted to use up my year-end shareholder benefit vouchers. I visited before 4 PM on a weekday, so it was not crowded at this time. However, there were still quite a few customers, and the atmosphere was lively. I sat at the counter seat assigned by the reception machine, and although it wasn't revolving sushi, I enjoyed the conveyor belt sushi. You order using a touch panel, and only the items you order come to your table. Today, I had 24 plates of sushi priced at 99 yen each including tax. Lately, I get quite full with this amount... my stomach seems to have weakened (´;ω;`). Among the ones I had today, the shiny fish like horse mackerel and sardine were juicy and delicious. The sweetness of the yellowtail that melts on the tongue was consistently delicious. The crispy aroma of the seaweed in the gunkan-maki was also good. One thing that is really disappointing at Hamazushi is the lack of variety in shellfish, there is only clam, can't they do something about it? The size of both the fish and rice is quite generous, which is fair. I paid 2000 yen with the benefit vouchers and also used a 100 yen coupon, so I was able to get quite full at a good deal. It would be great if they could increase the variety of shellfish. Overall, I was satisfied with being able to enjoy quite substantial sushi at a reasonable price. I will visit again to use up my benefit vouchers. Thank you for the meal!

Today, at my son's request, we visited a conveyor belt sushi restaurant, Hama Sushi's Matsui Yamate branch, which we had never been to before. The store was new and impressive, with a surprisingly spacious parking lot, giving off a suburban vibe. We arrived just before 6 pm on a weekday and were seated at a table without having to wait. The table had a tablet for ordering, and the sushi did not rotate on a conveyor belt. It seemed that the system was based on ordering specific items that were then brought to the table on a lane. We ordered about 10 types of sushi, most of which were priced at 99 yen, making it quite affordable. The tuna was thickly sliced, and the yellowtail was generously cut, both delicious. While some pieces were on the smaller side, considering the price, they were of a satisfactory quality. Additionally, there were various types of soy sauce available, allowing for customization based on preferences, which was enjoyable. Unlike traditional conveyor belt sushi restaurants where there is often waste, this system seemed to minimize waste and elevate the quality of the sushi compared to other chains. By the time we finished our meal and left, the large parking lot was almost full, indicating that the restaurant is quite popular even on weekdays. Considering the balance between taste and price, I thought the cost-performance ratio was excellent.

On November 20th (Saturday) around 13:15, I heard that a Hamazushi restaurant opened in Matsuiyamashita, so I decided to visit! I had been to the Kinkakuji branch in the past, but it's a bit far and I haven't been to the Yamashina area before. When I visited the Kinkakuji branch, Pepper-kun welcomed me, but it seems like it has been discontinued now. There were a lot of creative sushi dishes with seared toppings, which was very intriguing! The lady who greeted us at the entrance was also very friendly with a smile! It was delicious! Thank you for the meal!

I went to eat uni at the "Uni Festival" starting from November 4th at Hamazushi. The uni here was better than the one I had at Kurasushi before. The oyster fry, ankimo, and seared miso were all delicious as well. I didn't get too full today, so I think I could have eaten about 4 more pieces of uni. But I've been eating a bit too much lately, so I decided to restrain myself. Thank you for the meal!

The walk from Matsuiyamate Station is about 20 minutes. I made a reservation and went. Despite being open for a while, the staff still seemed inexperienced. Even though it wasn't very crowded, when I tried to order sushi on the touch panel, a message appeared saying, "Currently, sushi orders are busy, so we will accept orders for other items." The sushi that came out seemed rushed, with pieces placed awkwardly on the plates. And the sushi was small! I don't think men would feel satisfied. Even though I went with female friends, we still didn't feel satisfied. With so many conveyor belt sushi restaurants around, if they want to survive, they should consider making various improvements. I went home thinking about this.

Matsuri Sushi opened in Matsuiyamate, so I decided to have an early lunch there! Even though it was only 11:30, the place was almost full already. I started with some soup, and ordered the clam ramen. It was even more delicious than I expected! Now, you can choose half of the sushi rice portion. This is a strategy to prevent overeating, right? It's like Temari sushi style.

On June 10th, although the address is technically in Yahata City, a Kaiten Sushi restaurant called "Mawasushi" opened in the Matsuiyamate area. I visited for a late lunch about 4 days later. I arrived around 3:30 pm on a weekday and the restaurant was quite busy, probably because it had just opened. I didn't have to wait long and was able to sit at the designated seat right away using the automatic reception machine. This restaurant doesn't have a rotating lane, as far as I could tell. The counter seats where I sat all had touch panels for ordering. I had a total of 22 plates and a bowl of ramen. Among the dishes I tried, the fatty tuna was soft and had a smooth melting texture on the tongue, which was really good. Currently, they have a TV commercial advertising each plate for only 99 yen, which is a great deal. The eggplant with wasabi, as well as the various shellfish, were delicious, and the sushi with roast beef and prosciutto had a rich meaty flavor. The shiny fish like sardine and horse mackerel were juicy and easy to eat. The sashimi dishes were also satisfying. The Kitakata ramen at the end was quite authentic. The rich soy sauce broth and thick curly noodles with a firm texture exceeded the level of ramen served at revolving sushi restaurants. The generous amount of juicy chashu pork also added to the satisfying volume. The counter seats were a bit cramped with partitions, which was a little disappointing. I hope they can space it out a bit once the initial chaos settles down. I also think they should consider social distancing. However, I really enjoyed the sushi, and the weekday price of 99 yen including tax was a great deal. The enthusiastic and bright customer service right after the opening was also very impressive. Until now, I had to drive to Kizugawa City, Nara, or Kadoma to visit Mawasushi, so having one close to home is very convenient. If I may get a little sentimental as an old man, I still think it would be fun to have a rotating lane... Sometimes you end up taking something just because it's passing by, even if you're not that interested. Maybe it doesn't fit the times with concerns about COVID and food waste. Well, I will continue to visit in the future. Thank you for the meal!

You can try a variety of dishes at this small and affordable restaurant. Some may find the portions not filling enough, while others appreciate the size and price. A family of four can eat and drink for around 15,000 yen after enjoying about 70 plates. Reservations are available and easy to make. This revolving sushi restaurant operates on a complete order system, rather than a conveyor belt system.
