Hojicha soft serve is the best!

I bought some tea and decided to eat in as well. The shop is located at the intersection between the road from JR Uji Station to the City Hall and Ujihashi Shopping Street. There are about 8 seats available for dining. This place offers reasonably priced, high-quality tea from a tea shop that has been in business for 5 generations. Waffles and puff pastries cost around 700 yen. A cup of tea is only 350 yen. I had sencha and gyokuro this time. They even provide complimentary rice crackers and sweets from Marukyu Koyamaen. When I visited, the place was full of people enjoying soft serve ice cream and puff pastries. It seems that locals often come here for tea. If you're walking around the shopping street, it's about a 15-minute walk from Uji Bridge. While they don't have puff pastries that cost around 1,500 yen with all the toppings, the ones here are delicious and reasonably priced. This place is especially recommended for those who prioritize cost-effectiveness over atmosphere or brand name. On a side note, it seems that fewer people are brewing and drinking Japanese tea at home. The production of tencha (tea leaves used for matcha) is increasing, leading to a decline in the sales of tea itself. Matcha sweets are popular, but the consumption of tea itself is decreasing.
