I had some time to take a break while working at a patisserie with an eat-in space near Akebonobashi Station. I was looking for a cafe with delicious pudding, but couldn't find one, so I decided to visit a cake shop instead. I ordered an iced Darjeeling tea for 680 yen and a love pudding for 350 yen. The pudding was a bit too sweet for me, but not unpleasantly so. It was topped generously with vanilla beans, and the whipped cream on top was also delicious. The Darjeeling tea was incredibly tasty, probably because of the quality of the tea leaves and the way it was brewed. I will work hard for the rest of my break. No smoking allowed!

Cocoa, almonds, dairy, fruits. A patisserie that focuses on high-quality ingredients. ■ Order Details Peach Pie - 864 yen A ripe peach is hollowed out and filled with custard cream, then placed on a small pie. The juicy sweetness of the peach fruit and the sugary sweetness of the custard cream harmonize well and taste delicious. It's similar to the pastries at the nearby tamagoCOCO, but those are definitely tastier. However, this one is about 400 yen cheaper, so you can choose between the two. ■ Miscellaneous Established in 2001, this patisserie is known for its cake "La Viva Baccus," which won an award at the Charles Proust Competition in France.

Before the end of the rainy season, the scorching heat continued in the summer of 2023, and this year, the "Lavi Ice" at the patisserie "Lavidouce" in Akebonobashi has started. On a weekend, when passing by the front of the store, I stopped by and found that the ice had started, so I immediately tried it. This famous store is also available at "Patisserie" in Shinjuku Takashimaya, located along Yasukuni Street near Akebonobashi Station. There are no signs of ice outside, so you wouldn't know there was an ice menu just by looking from the outside. The only sign is for "Freshly Brewed Blended Coffee." There is an eat-in space inside where you can enjoy cakes and shaved ice "Lavi Ice". The combination of shaved ice at a patisserie may be surprising, but the delicious shaved ice is worth visiting every year at this time. I visited just before 2 pm on Saturday, and the number of cakes in the case had decreased significantly. There are 3 shaved ice flavors on the menu, "Black Sugar Chestnut", "Condensed Milk Strawberry", and "Maple Cheese", all priced at 1,100 yen. I placed my order at the register, paid, and then went to the "salon" seat. There is a space with chairs lined up by the window, where you can enjoy sweets while looking at the greenery outside. There is also one table seat along the wall. I sat by the window and waited for the shaved ice. ■ Lavi Ice Black Sugar Chestnut (1,100 yen) The mountain of ice is adorned with chestnut cream, crumble, and powdered sugar. The black syrup is made of black sugar and is generously poured. The finished look is like snow piled on a mountain, very beautiful. When I tried it, the chestnut cream had a rum-flavored taste, a strong adult flavor with a hint of alcohol, and the crumble was a nice accent. The black sugar syrup is thick and stays on top of the ice, providing a rich sweetness. The ice was very well shaved, with a fluffy texture and a good mouthfeel. The black sugar syrup was evenly spread throughout the ice, allowing me to enjoy it until the end. ■ Lavi Ice Condensed Milk Strawberry (1,100 yen) The shaved ice covered with strawberry jam, fluffy whipped cream, and powdered sugar. It's finished in a shortcake style, and indeed, the combination of whipped cream and slightly sour strawberries is like a shortcake. The whipped cream was delicious, and although the menu is called condensed milk strawberry, the cream is soft and goes well with shaved ice. My husband and I thought whipped cream-based sweets wouldn't go well with shaved ice, but this shaved ice was different. Both the chestnut cream and whipped cream not only tasted good on their own but also surprisingly delicious when combined with shaved ice. This year, there has been a trend of high-priced shaved ice at specialty shops, with shaved ice exceeding 2,000 yen becoming more common. However, this shaved ice is just right in size and price, making it easy to enjoy at around 1,000 yen with this quality. It was so delicious that my husband and I kept talking about the shaved ice throughout the day. The shaved ice season has just begun this year, and I definitely want to revisit during the season.

A patisserie located near Shimbashi Bridge. It is easy to find as it faces a main street. The shop has large windows, creating an open and inviting atmosphere. I visited on a Sunday afternoon for tea time. The shop has a few seats available for dining in, and that's where I enjoyed my treat. I had a mango and chocolate cake, accompanied by a cafe latte. The cake featured a generous amount of mango mousse covered in chocolate. The mango flavor was prominent, making it a perfect summer dessert. It was delicious.

I purchased cakes from "Patisserie La Vie Douce," located about a 3-minute walk from Akasaka Station, and enjoyed them at home. On this day, I was working remotely from home and had Echigo Sanjo-style ramen for lunch at a nearby ramen shop before stopping by. Although I had passed by this place many times before, I had never visited. I originally thought it was a bakery, but I found out online that it is actually a famous sweets shop, so I had been targeting this shop. I bought a Gâteau Brownie, Cherry Cake, and Caramel Brownie on this day. They were delicious! I don't usually eat this kind of cake, but sometimes dessert is a good thing. The shop also has a cafe space, so it's a nice place to relax and enjoy your cake.

When walking from Akasaka to Shinjuku, you will come across a lovely café with a glass exterior that resembles a Parisian café. The curved glass surface along the sidewalk is beautiful, with touches of brown and orange on the exterior that are inviting. As you enter through the orange-trimmed door, you are greeted warmly by the staff. There is a pastry display in the front and a café area in the back. When I visited around 11:20 am on a weekday, the café was not too crowded. Although there were limited cake options that day, the sight of the "Yotsuya specialty" Yotsuya Cream Puff caught my eye. I used to love cream puffs the most at one point in time, back when there weren't as many dessert options available. Cream puffs used to be difficult to eat at cafes, as they would often get squished and messy, so most were for takeout. (This is different now.) This time, the cream puff looked so cute and the bumpy surface resembling the moon intrigued me. The term "specialty" also drew me in, so I chose the Yotsuya Cream Puff (388 yen tax included). I also ordered a coffee and headed to the café area in the back. The counter seats by the window were inviting, and there were tables parallel to them. I chose a seat at the counter. Even inside the café, the Parisian atmosphere remained unchanged. It was clean and bright with all the glass windows. It was a slightly rainy day, so I appreciated any sunlight that filtered through. The counter tables followed the curve of the glass windows, adding to the pleasant ambiance. Soon, the staff brought me the coffee and Yotsuya Cream Puff. Upon closer inspection, the cream puff looked even cuter. When I removed the wax paper, the custard cream peeked out from the bottom, adding to its charm. With a knife and fork provided, I cut into it to reveal the rich custard cream inside. The subtle presence of vanilla beans was also delightful. The cream did not spill out when I cut into the choux pastry. The pastry was slightly crunchy, and the inside was a pie crust. The combination of textures with the slightly viscous custard cream was pleasant, enhancing the flavor. The vanilla beans, though subtle, added a nice touch. It was a delicious cream puff that I would want to eat over and over again. After enjoying the delicious cream puff, I savored my coffee while watching the passersby through the glass window. It was a relaxing moment. I decided to take some pastries to go, and among the many options, I chose the Dofinoir (324 yen tax included). It is a classic pastry with walnuts and caramel nougat, but the addition of orange flavor in the pound cake was delicious. The mix of sweetness and bitterness was delightful. I was drawn to the atmosphere of the café and the thoughtfully crafted pastries. I look forward to my next visit. Thank you for the meal.

After having lunch at "Bistro W" in Yotsuya Sanchome, you can take a walk to Akebonobashi and visit sweet shops. One of the shops is "La Vie Douce" located near Akebonobashi Station, towards Shinjuku on Yasukuni Street. The exterior of the shop is brown and orange, resembling chocolate and oranges. The logo features a tree with many fruits. Inside, there are cakes and baked goods displayed, with a seating area at the back. Although I wanted to try the cake that won the Grand Prix called "La Vie Bacchus", it was unfortunately not available when I visited. This time, I purchased cream puffs and baked goods. The cream puffs had a crispy shell and a creamy filling, while the lemon cake was moist and subtly flavored. I would like to try the "La Vie Bacchus" cake next time. According to reviews, they also serve shaved ice in the summer, which sounds intriguing.

I purchased three cakes from the patisserie at the Shinjuku Takashimaya underground food market in April 2023, and all of them were of high quality. - Clam D'Anjou: 692 yen I was drawn to its pure white appearance, and the grapefruit jelly paired nicely with the cream cheese. - Sangria: 735 yen This cake had a strong red wine flavor with layers of red wine cream, orange cream, red wine jelly, and meringue. - Cosmos: 720 yen A cake with chocolate mousse, pistachio mousse, and fruit compote. The dark chocolate and sweet compote combination was to my liking.

The visit to celebrate my son's entrance ceremony was great with a beautiful hall cake. They had a variety of delicious cream puffs, cakes, and baked goods. The cream puffs were especially satisfying with delicious custard cream inside. The cakes had mixed reviews depending on the type. Next time, I'll try purchasing some baked goods or chocolates.

I visited this place a short walk from Akemachi Station. They have seating for dining in the back. On the roadside, there are many baked goods lined up. I got a "walnut cookie" to go. It had a strong butter flavor and paired well with coffee.

About a 5-minute walk from Akasaka Station, this trendy shop has a sophisticated atmosphere. The cakes are all authentic and beautifully designed, which is wonderful. The display case looked like a jewelry box. I wonder if they have won various awards? There was even a Michelin figurine, so it must be a fantastic establishment.

Today, I enjoyed eating in at the restaurant. It had been a while since I last visited, and I noticed that the prices had gone up, but the taste remained delicious as always. ■Order Details - High Cacao 682 yen - Blend Coffee 528 yen The High Cacao dessert had a beautiful layer of biscuit and ganache with a hint of brandy. The rich chocolate flavor was delicious. The chocolate coating on the sides was also very pretty. ■Miscellaneous Notes I realized that the prices had increased quite a bit without me noticing. It's probably due to the high cost of living, but it's a bit disappointing. The eat-in space had a lot of openness with the large glass front of the store. There were green plants in front, and the distance from the sidewalk added a sense of calm. I really love the apple pie from this place, but I haven't had it in years. Next time, for sure.

This is a patisserie near Akasaka Station. When I passed by, there was an empty seating area so I decided to stop by after a long time. This time, I ordered the Classic cake for 506 yen and a Cafe Latte for 638 yen. The Classic cake had a strong chocolate flavor. It had a subtle sweetness with a hint of bitterness, just as I expected. The Cafe Latte paired well with it too. While everything I tried was delicious, I have a particularly fond memory of the Apple Pie here. It was only available during apple season and tended to sell out quickly. I look forward to trying it again next season.

Reasonable prices. The smallest whole cake, 2 shortcakes, and 4 macarons cost 3800 yen. My favorite is the strawberry shortcake with a creamy milk flavor and a refreshing cream. Even though I was full after dinner, I couldn't stop eating it! I also tried a bit of the chocolate cake and cheesecake, both were delicious. The macarons were a bit bigger and only 210 yen each, so cute! However, there were more tart and mousse cakes, and I prefer more sponge cake, so I deducted some points for that, but overall, it's a strike for my taste. ♥️

I revisited a place I went to 7 years ago relying on my memories. I got a takeout of Ravi Baccus and Yotsuya Shoe to relive the excitement from back then. The same old atmosphere and the taste when I ate it at home both impressed me once again! If I pass by again, I definitely want to buy them to take home. Also, Valentine's Day is coming up soon, and I think Ravi Sablé would make a nice return gift. I took a picture of it.

Huh? The name sounded familiar from the patisserie area. They were doing business nearby? I always feel a bit nervous when going to a new patisserie for the first time, but this time, even though I was working, I decided to visit with my mouth watering in anticipation that they would have a good selection. I didn't bother to look up which item was the chef's specialty. It felt like imitating a character from a manga I saw a long time ago. The Gâteau Frais (Strawberry Shortcake) is a key indicator of whether the shop is French-oriented or not, depending on whether it is green or not. They call it Frégier, but here it's called Gâteau Frais. On the other hand, there's also the familiar Shortcake, which they call Chantilly Frais. The layers of pistachio melt smoothly and fragrantly. The amount of pistachio is not excessive, probably to not overpower the taste of strawberries. La Citron Lacté (Lemon): I think I saw this at Takashimaya as well. The toppings are different, but it might be a seasonal item. Fresh lemon flavor expressed with various ingredients, and a smooth melting layer of chocolate in the center... Delicious. High Cacao: A layered chocolate cake. Dense and rich, with a crumbly texture, followed by an enveloping richness that shuts out everything else. This is where a true French patisserie shines, with an excess of deliciousness. The Chocolat: Wow, competing with the intense chocolate in the same shop... This one has a mousse-like structure, with a strong taste coming from the velvety chocolate attack on the surface and the cream inside. The moistness adds to the strong flavor. I thought I made a mistake buying two chocolate items, but it turned out to be such a delightful surprise. Delicious! And this place is easy to park at, so I'll definitely rely on it in the future.

In September, the weather has started to cool down a bit, but there are still days when the temperature exceeds 30 degrees Celsius. On a hot weekend, I went to the patisserie "Laviedouce" in Akebonobashi to have shaved ice. "Laviedouce" is a patisserie where you can find famous sweets like the "La Vi Bacchus," a combination of chocolate mousse and tart, which is also available at Shinjuku Takashimaya's "Patisserie." When I passed by the shop in August, I saw a shaved ice flag hanging outside and thought, "I want to go before the shaved ice season ends." So, I visited the shop on the weekend. The shaved ice combinations at a patisserie may seem unexpected, but I had tried it before at Laviedouce and the high-quality shaved ice with a fluffy texture left a lasting impression on me. Inside the shop, there was a menu board with three enticing shaved ice options: Mont Blanc-style, Shortcake-style, and Cheesecake-style. I visited on a Sunday afternoon around 3 pm. Since there were customers already inside, I had to wait for a seat in the salon area. While waiting, I noticed that the variety of sweets in the display case was decreasing as it was getting closer to the evening, indicating their popularity. The Shortcake (Chantilly Fraise) had a lot of stock, but other types were running low. The prices seemed slightly higher, probably due to the recent increase in ingredient costs. If you have a specific cake in mind, visiting earlier in the morning is crucial. After placing and paying for our order at the register, we were escorted to the salon area. Out of the three shaved ice options, the Shortcake-style was sold out, so both my spouse and I ordered the Mont Blanc-style. The salon area at the back of the shop faced the street, creating a bright and cozy atmosphere with limited seating. We sat by the window and waited for our shaved ice. The Mont Blanc-style shaved ice (990 yen) featured a tall mound of shaved ice topped with chestnut cream, chocolate-coated meringue, and candied chestnuts. The ice had a fine texture and was drizzled with brown sugar syrup. The chestnut cream was generously spread, and the powdered sugar on top resembled a dusting of snow. The chocolate-coated meringue added a crunchy texture that complemented the sweetness well. The chestnut cream had a light and fluffy consistency with a hint of rum, providing a sophisticated taste. The brown sugar syrup had a caramel-like aroma, enhancing the overall flavor. The ice was slightly difficult to eat due to the syrup pooling at the bottom, but with some adjustments, it was enjoyable. As we savored the shaved ice, the meringue provided a refreshing contrast to the cold sensation, making the shaved ice even more delicious. The smooth chestnut cream, subtly sweet mousse-like flavor, and the harmonious blend with the shaved ice and brown sugar syrup made it a delightful treat. The portion size and price were just right, making it a reasonably priced dessert at around 1,000 yen. I was so impressed by the deliciousness that I wanted to come back again soon. I also expressed my thoughts to the staff, and Chef Horie came out to chat with me, which was a pleasant surprise. I look forward to revisiting soon to try the Shortcake-style shaved ice that was sold out on that day.

I usually buy cream puffs, but I was intrigued by the cheesecake-flavored shaved ice, and since summer is almost over, I didn't want to miss the opportunity. The shaved ice syrup is maple flavored. The cheesecake flavored cream covers the ice, and frozen thinly sliced baked cheese is topped around it. Despite being cheesy, the maple syrup flavored shaved ice resets the richness of the cheese with every bite, so I was able to enjoy it until the end without getting tired of it.
