I was in the mood for some healthy food in Kyoto after a long time, so I chose Yudofu. It was perfect because it was a cold and windy day. The room was also warm! The dishes kept coming one after another, so I didn't get bored and could enjoy my meal at my own pace.

A reasonably priced restaurant where you can enjoy authentic Kyoto cuisine. The yuba tofu in particular is delicious with a traditional taste. The clientele is sophisticated, so you can quietly enjoy delicious Kyoto cuisine in a private room. It would be a good match for those who appreciate good food. Pairing it with cold local sake allows you to savor both the deliciousness and the elegance.

I came to Kameya Honke in Kyoto based on a recommendation from a friend. The restaurant is located just a 1-minute walk from Hankyu Omiya Station and is a hidden gem within the Omiya shopping street, designed with a deep interior like a eel's bed, typical of Kyoto. Upon entering, there are stairs leading to the second floor where all rooms are furnished with chair and table seating, making it convenient for elderly and female customers. My friends ordered the conger eel shabu-shabu course, while I opted for the kaiseki cuisine using yuba (tofu skin) (Tofu Temple). The meal included appetizers, a variety of small dishes, fresh yuba sashimi, grilled fu with miso, yuba hot pot, tempura, simmered dishes, steamed dishes, and more. The portion was quite generous and the cost performance was good. The small dishes included in the meal were charming, with my favorites being the grilled fu with miso and the tempura. The grilled fu with miso had a yuzu miso topping and was lightly grilled. The tempura included yuba spring rolls with small shrimp and colorful tempura. The yuba hot pot had a mild white miso flavor and was delicious. The conger eel ordered by my friends came with various accompaniments such as blanching and tempura, making it a luxurious meal.

The mini kaiseki meal at Yuba "Sanjo" was delicious from the appetizers. I especially love the fried tofu, which never disappoints. The broth in the yuba hot pot was incredibly tasty, and I couldn't help but finish every last drop, despite my lack of manners. The sweet and salty seasoned dried baby sardines were also delicious. I saved the green seaweed from the appetizers for the meal, and although it may not be the correct way to eat it, I personally recommend it as it was very tasty. The portion size was just right, and I was pleasantly full after finishing the meal. Kaiseki meals can sometimes be too much to finish, so I recommend it for a girls' trip dinner.

Founded over 100 years ago, this restaurant has never moved locations. Starting with the positives, I chose the 3500 yen Yuba course (opting for a slightly cheaper option) and was very satisfied with the food. The course included a variety of dishes featuring yuba and tofu, with a generous amount of food that was both elegant and delicious. The dishes came out quickly, which was perfect for our group of food enthusiasts. The drinks were ordered individually instead of all-you-can-drink, but they were strong and plentiful without any sense of being cheap. Moving on to a few disappointments, the voices of the servers could be heard from behind the screens, the restroom was unisex, and the layout of the rooms felt odd with large open spaces divided into smaller rooms. In conclusion, this may not be the ideal place for a date or special occasion, but it is a great spot to enjoy tofu and yuba with friends in a casual and lively atmosphere. The food was really delicious!

It was close to the hotel so I visited. The food was good, but it lacked a bit of tradition and dedication. It would be even better if they had more dishes that showcase tradition and attention to detail. The interior of the restaurant is calming with tatami seating, creating a nice atmosphere, but it also felt a bit disappointing. It's a shame.

Located near Shijo-Omiya Station, this restaurant is in a lively area with many dining options. We enjoyed delicious dishes made with yuba and tofu. The restaurant seemed to have a traditional feel, with a charming entrance. The seating arrangement in the tatami room with chairs and tables felt a bit casual, which made the atmosphere slightly less refined.

I found this place unexpectedly during my sightseeing in Kyoto. The taste is elegant, highlighting the quality of the ingredients. And it's very affordable! If it's nearby, I think I would go there to eat all the time. The staff were also very friendly. I highly recommend this place first when you visit Kyoto.

This is a small restaurant located on a side street next to Hankyu Shijo Omiya Station. I wanted to try Kyoto cuisine, so I decided to visit. There is a button at the entrance on the first floor, and when you press it, a staff member will come out after a while and guide you to your seat. The restaurant has a second floor with a spacious tatami area and chair seating, suitable for large groups. Draft beer costs 600 yen, appetizers around 300 yen, sashimi 900 yen, tempura 800 yen, and Sanjo (tofu skin set meal) 3200 yen, all prices excluding tax. The food was delicious. The set meal dishes may not have large portions, but overall they were satisfying. The service seemed a bit slow, so it may not be suitable for a leisurely dining experience. It seems more geared towards group customers.

This is a review of a restaurant I visited to try yuba, which I don't usually eat. The location is right near Omiya Station. My friend parked their bike in front of the station and walked over, but there was also space to park bikes in front of the restaurant. The inside of the restaurant was surprisingly spacious and deep, with tatami flooring and a cozy atmosphere. We were seated on the first floor. We ordered the Yuba Kaiseki (Sanjo) set menu. The yuba sashimi was delicious, with a thick and creamy texture. The portion was generous. We also had an appetizer plate, sesame tofu, and two types of nama-fu. The tofu had a nice chewy texture and strong flavor. The nama-fu was new to me and I preferred the mugwort-flavored one. The soy milk hot pot was incredibly tasty, with a slightly sweet broth that reminded me of home-cooked zoni. I could have had multiple refills of just the soup. The tempura was served with warm dipping sauce, which was a nice touch. The meal ended with yuba chawanmushi, which was slightly sweet and very enjoyable. Finally, we had rice, miso soup, and a tea snack. I was completely full by the end of the meal. The staff at Kameya were friendly and made us feel at home. It was a delightful dining experience.

I visited after work. The access is excellent in front of Omiya Station. Contrary to the lively atmosphere outside the station, the inside of the restaurant had a calm and traditional atmosphere, which raised my expectations. I was guided to a tatami table seat after walking down a long corridor, and I ordered the tofu course. The sashimi konjac, nama-fu dengaku, yudofu, and other dishes were served in various ways, so I enjoyed them without getting tired. Also, many tofu and yuba dishes leave me feeling unsatisfied, but each dish had a substantial volume and I was very satisfied! With a large number of seats and reasonable prices, it seems easy to visit with both small and large groups.

I stayed at a hotel nearby and wanted to try some local delicacies, so I visited this restaurant. As soon as I entered, I felt the historical atmosphere and received recommendations from the staff in Kyoto dialect, which heightened my expectations. I was torn between the Yuba Gozen for 2,100 yen and the Yuba Kaiseki for 4,200 yen, but since I wanted to try individual items, I opted for the Yuba Gozen this time. The Yuba Gozen included sesame tofu, Yuba sashimi, vegetable tempura, soy milk hot pot, nama-fu dengaku, rice, and pickles. I also ordered some individual items like Kyoto kamaboko, Yuba spring rolls, agedashi tofu, and octopus and wasabi. Everything had a refined taste and was delicious, but the soy milk hot pot, nama-fu dengaku, and agedashi tofu received high praise from my family! We were able to fulfill my father's wish to eat Yuba in Kyoto, and he was so happy. The prices were reasonable, so we will definitely visit again when we return to Kyoto. The staff were kind and considerate towards families, creating a truly relaxing atmosphere. Thank you very much. The private room provided on this occasion had a slightly outdated feel, but it was still suitable for families without being too luxurious.

My criteria for choosing a shop in Kyoto is that it must be an old establishment. I have a preference for such places, whether it's a cafe, traditional Japanese sweets shop, or restaurant. After visiting Arashiyama for the first time in a while, I searched for this shop on my way back. It's conveniently located near the Hankyu station, making it easy to return. The shop specialized in yuba dishes and eel, which caught my attention. I ordered eel kabayaki and a side dish, while my wife opted for the yuba kaiseki. The eel, sourced from Mie Prefecture, was incredibly tender and delicious. The liver dish was subtly flavored, giving off an elegant vibe. The yuba kaiseki included dishes like nama-fu dengaku, with the raw yuba being wonderfully creamy and tasty. I love old establishments as they make me feel like time has stood still, creating a relaxed atmosphere. I highly recommend this place.
