Heading to Kiyomizu Temple. It's full of school trip students. And the weather is too nice, it's so hot. Before praying, I want to cool off a bit. There are various options. Let's try the recommended one like a tourist. It's deep-fried yuba wrapped with diced cheese and kamaboko. "The skewer is fried together, so it's hot," they said, and it's really hot. Be careful not to burn yourself. The yuba is crispy and crunchy. It's a bit oily, so one piece is enough. I think sharing is a good idea. The cheese didn't melt as much as I expected. The cheap feel of a tourist spot is nice, right?

I bought yuba cheese because it looked rare and delicious. They fried it on the spot, so it was freshly fried with plenty of cheese and tasted delicious. The cheese and yuba went well together. Other menu items also looked delicious, so I would like to go again.

I used a Goto Travel coupon and decided to try something unique while in Kyoto. I came across this place and decided to give it a try. I was tired from climbing a hill, so I was relieved to find a seating area. I ordered Yuba Cheese, Matcha Shake, and Cola for 1010 yen. The Yuba Cheese was served hot, but it tasted like fish paste. It wasn't very delicious.

Kyoto Kiyomizu-zaka. Yuba cheese for 400 yen. Ebi mayo for 300 yen. This is delicious! Perfect for food tasting while walking around. They are freshly fried and hot, and tasted delicious. There is also a corner inside the store where you can sit and rest, so you can take a break when you get tired from walking.

During our company trip, we enjoyed a generous portion of seasonal vegetables with a gentle seasoning at "Baizando" restaurant. It was a relaxing break during our stroll around Kiyomizu-dera temple.

On the way back from Kiyomizu-dera, I stopped by Umeyamado, famous for its yuba cheese. I ordered the yuba cheese and paid with PayPay. The taste was average. I think it would be better if there was a bit more cheese. Thank you for the meal.

One of the famous spots in Kyoto is Kiyomizu Temple. Along the Kiyomizu slope leading to the temple, many shops are lined up. At the top is "Baizan-do," where bite-sized steamed buns are sold. They look delicious as they are freshly made. The price is reasonable at 60 yen each. There are two flavors available: sweet bean paste and chocolate. Since the price is cheap, I decided to buy one of each. By the way, the ones with a red seal are chocolate. The sweet bean paste flavor is average, while the chocolate flavor is quite tasty. Personally, I would rate the sweet bean paste 3.0 stars and the chocolate 3.5 stars.

I received a souvenir from Kyoto somewhere in September 2015. My father is a food blogger, and it has become a well-known rule in our family that we can't eat any souvenirs until he takes a picture and reviews them. On this day, my wife said, "It's a gift, but I waited to eat it because Dad wanted to review it," and we had some warabi mochi from Kogido as dessert. I'm not good at reviewing sweets, but I have a lot of drafts waiting, so it doesn't really matter. I searched on Tabelog, but couldn't find it. However, when I googled Kogido, I found out that it's a well-established store founded in 1928. They have two stores in Kyoto and also sell their products at Kansai Airport and service areas. Since I took a picture, I decided to post a review here. My daughter and wife are readers of my reviews, so it's important to keep the peace at home. The warabi mochi was just average.

Located in Kyoto, a traditional Japanese confectionery shop called "Byzandou" offers a variety of Japanese sweets. Facing the slope leading to Kiyomizu Temple (Chawan-zaka), it has three locations from the first to the third. At the second location, they bake and serve freshly made Kiyomizu-yaki manju, a type of baked confectionery unique to the shop. The Kiyomizu-yaki manju features Kiyomizu Temple on one side and a "Kiyomizu-yaki" stamp on the other. The texture is similar to Momiji manju from Miyajima, with castella sponge cake filled with sweet bean paste. The filling flavor changes daily, with the one tried being chestnut paste. While not very large in size, they are easy to purchase and enjoy.

On the second day of our 3-day trip to Kyoto, with the cherry blossoms in full bloom, the three of us visited Kiyomizu-dera for the second time this year. But before that, we stopped by Umeyamado on Kiyomizu-zaka to try their matcha soft serve ice cream. Umeyamado has three locations on Kiyomizu-zaka, and we went to the first one near Kiyomizu-dera. We tried the Matcha Mix for 300 yen, which had a perfect blend of rich matcha and vanilla flavors. It was a refreshing treat after a tiring day of walking. The information I heard was that there were a lot of people at Kiyomizu-dera Temple illuminated by autumn leaves, so I went on a Friday night prepared for crowds, but it was actually not crowded when I arrived later, which was good. It was cold and I was hungry, so I enjoyed some yuba buns from Kihachiro while walking up the hill to the gate of Kiyomizu-dera Temple. There were many people buying freshly baked Kiyomizu-yaki from Baizando, a shop in front of the temple, where you can see the pottery being baked by machines.

Today was a day of indulgence! Hello, this is Okahiro! I had some skewers at a roadside shop near Kiyomizu Temple in Kyoto.
- Before reaching the shop, I noticed a flag for "Yuba Cheese" near Kiyomizu Temple and couldn't resist stopping by. They also had seating available.
- Menu: I ordered Yuba Cheese and Octopus with Green Onions. They were freshly fried on the spot. The gooey cheese was delicious! Both dishes had a nice crispy texture. Kiyomizu Temple is a short walk up a hill from the main street, so it's recommended for satisfying a small hunger.

I visited this place on my way to Kiyomizu Temple during my trip to Kyoto. I was drawn in by the sign for Yuba Cheese, which seems to be quite famous as it has been featured on TV. They mainly offer takeout for eating on the go, but there is also seating available inside. I tried the Yuba Cheese and realized that it is a fried dish made by wrapping a cheese-like paste in yuba (tofu skin). I was expecting something more like cheese wrapped in yuba, so I was a bit disappointed. The cheese flavor was not very strong, and the dish was quite oily. I wish they would cut down on the oil. Overall, it was decent but not what I had imagined. It seems to cater more to tourists. It's a good option for a quick snack when visiting Kiyomizu Temple.

Yuba cheese! Finally got to try it! When I tasted it, it was like the common cheese tempura with a paste-like texture. It's good! It's delicious! I'm happy that there are seats available!
