We were invited to a private gathering at a prestigious restaurant in Kyoto with three friends. It was a ritual feast where we enjoyed beautiful and exquisite dishes and tableware. After the lively conversation, we felt a bit hungry and decided to have coffee on our way back. We stumbled upon a cozy café surrounded by greenery, where we enjoyed delicious coffee and bought some natural yeast bread to take home. The café also offered homemade jams, red bean paste, and cream for takeout or dining in. The staff was friendly, and the atmosphere was warm and calming. The coffee and bread were both delicious. We learned that the café also had a small hotel on the second floor, but unfortunately, it was fully booked that day. The hotel, called "Kyoto no Mori Yurinsha," is a quaint establishment in a traditional craftsman neighborhood from the Muromachi period. We were intrigued by the idea of staying there and enjoying the morning with 603's bread for breakfast. The rates for a room with breakfast included were reasonable for two people. We also explored the nearby artisan district and purchased a small unpainted vessel from a lacquerware shop. It was a fun and enjoyable day of discovering new things in the streets of Kyoto.

Friday Dining 603 Bagel 350 yen The interior of the place is very cute, with a hotel, restaurant, and bakery all in one. It seems like they also offer lunch, but it's on an irregular schedule, so you have to check their Instagram often. I would like to try dining there someday. Thank you for the meal.

When I went to Tomomi Gelato, they opened at 13:00 so I had some time to spare and decided to buy bagels nearby. The shop was covered in greenery, like a different world. This time, I brought back the following four types: - Mocha Blueberry Cream Cheese Almond - Smoked Ham BP Mozzarella Cheese Mustard with Whole Wheat - Earl Grey White Sweet Red Bean Shikuwasa The bagels were packed with fillings and required some effort to chew, but they were delicious. Did they raise the prices a bit?

When I went shopping by bike, I happened to pass by a bakery with vines growing on the outside that caught my eye, so I decided to go in. Inside, I found a variety of unique flavored bagels beautifully displayed, and I couldn't resist buying a few. Unfortunately, I ate them before I could record which flavors I got, so I'm not sure now. The texture of the dough is more on the fluffy side, more Japanese-style rather than American-style, but when reheated, it becomes a bit crispy, which is not bad. I think it may not be the best choice for those who prefer a dense and rich bagel with cream cheese. There also seems to be a café space in the back (apparently they also have accommodation facilities), and even though it was early, there were already people using it.

Today, I went to a bakery near Gojo Kawaramachi in Kyoto. It's called Dining 603 (Rokumarsan) and is located on the first floor of the Hotel Kyoto no Mori Yurinsha. I have been here a few times in the past and decided to stop by again today. I bought two types of bread to take home. 1. Homemade Smoked Ham Mustard: This bread uses a German mozzarella cheese pretzel bagel as its base. Inside the bread, there is smoked ham wrapped in mustard. The combination of the crunchy mustard and the hearty smoked ham was delightful. 2. Rustic: This bread has a simple and rustic feel to it. It has a satisfying chewiness and a rich taste of wheat. The more you chew, the more you can enjoy its chewy texture. It felt like I was enjoying an authentic French bread.

Bakery & Dining 603 Purchases: "Black Sesame Milk Sweet Potato Paste Bagel" and "Hojicha Cream Cheese Pretzel Bagel". I stumbled upon this place while taking a break at a nearby café and was excited by its cute appearance. It seems they offer dine-in options, but I opted for takeout this time. I should have steamed or at least used a microwave, but couldn't as I was out. Nonetheless, these unique bagels exuded a strong sense of dedication. Both had a firm texture overall, providing a satisfying chewiness. They were mini-sized. The "Hojicha Cream Cheese Pretzel Bagel" felt even firmer with a dense filling and remarkable elasticity. It had a coffee-like aroma, perhaps from coffee kneaded into the dough. The filling consisted of cream cheese and hojicha paste, creating a slightly acidic, coffee-like flavor. The "Black Sesame Milk Sweet Potato Paste Bagel" was enjoyed for breakfast. It had a rich black sesame flavor and a fragrant sweet potato paste filling, giving it a Japanese twist. Despite its chewiness, the moistness and the effect of the filling kept it delicious without becoming tiresome. Thank you for the meal!

Nowadays, it is common to research before visiting a store. I casually stepped into a shop with a natural and soft atmosphere. I ordered a set of bagel and a drink. Can you choose the bagel for the set? No, you cannot choose... I could hear the sound of coffee beans being ground in the back of the shop. After a while, I was served with hot bagel and coffee. The bagel had red bean paste sandwiched between, unexpected deliciousness. It was a pleasantly surprising taste. The staff at the shop were very kind, and even the person who came for a part-time job interview was very cute. The bagel and drink set cost only 600 yen!

A shop that sells bagels, pretzels, and scones. The types of bagels available change daily, and they update their Instagram in the morning so you can check before going to buy. On this day, they had unique options like chocolate bagels with bananas, and black tea bagels with persimmon jam. The owner explained each type of bread in detail, making it fun to choose. The sandwiches are said to be a good deal. The taste of the bagels themselves was delicious, and the flavors of the jams and mix-ins were also very tasty. The texture was not the absolute best, but the more you chew, the better it tastes.

I discovered a bakery called Bakery & Dining 603 while walking along Manjuji Street in Kyoto's Gojo area. It was surprising to find a bakery on this street filled with Buddhist altar shops. The bakery also had an eat-in space, connected to a guesthouse called Kyoto no Mori Yurinsha. The place had a charming and whimsical Ghibli-like atmosphere. I visited the bakery 3 or 4 times and tried their bagels, pretzels, and scones. The scones had a variety of flavors which got me really excited. On one visit, I had their homemade smoked ham cheese pepper mustard pretzel bagel and coconut yogurt scone set with coffee. The bagel was filled with the aroma of the smoked ham, enveloping the entire pretzel dough with flavor. The scone, made with French Merle wheat and coconut, had a delightful texture and taste. The carefully brewed coffee was also delicious. I bought plenty of scones to enjoy later. It was a delightful experience.

Today, I visited a bakery at a hotel near Gojo-Kawaramachi called Dining 603 (Rokumaru San). It is located on the first floor of the Kyoto no Mori Arashiyama Hotel. I had visited two weeks ago and enjoyed their delicious bagels, so I decided to come back again. They had a variety of bagels and bread displayed. Since it was a bit late for lunch, some items were already sold out compared to my last visit. They recommended their pretzels, so I purchased two of them. I took them home for a slightly late lunch. - Homemade Natural Yeast Bagel: It seems like they mix rye and whole wheat flour to make the dough. It is said to be delicious even when made into a sandwich. The dough was surprisingly elastic and chewy. The more I chewed, the better the taste of wheat I could feel. - Natural Yeast Pretzel: This is a traditional German baked pastry. It also seems to use natural yeast. The dough is dense and firm. It has a great flavor of baked wheat. Eating it with coarse salt made it even more delicious. Authentic natural yeast bread is great! I enjoyed it today as well.

■Visit Date: May 29, 2021■Received Items: Pasta Lunch■MEMOVisited on May 29, 2021. Headed west from Miyuki-cho Manjuji. After a short walk, you will see the shop. They serve lunch and also sell bagels. The interior of the shop has a bread sales corner near the entrance and table seats at the back. The shop has a wooden theme with a nice touch of plaster walls. The spring breeze blowing in from outside feels very pleasant. On this day, I went for lunch with my wife. Due to the COVID-19 situation, they were only serving pasta lunch, which was delicious. Today's special was lamb stew spaghetti. The appetizers included salad, smoked potato salad, carrot rapé, smoked roast beef, and the bread was a natural yeast pretzel. It was a luxurious lunch priced at ¥1200. Every dish was incredibly delicious. The lamb stew spaghetti was very easy to eat, well-cooked, and had a deep flavor that my wife and I enjoyed. The pretzel is a must-try item as well. The relaxed atmosphere and the warm, soft air of the shop create a cozy feeling that is conveyed to the customers. We also bought bagels to take home, and each one was exceptionally tasty, especially the homemade ham, summer truffle, German mozzarella, pepper, and pretzel bagel. It was a delightful experience enjoying delicious food.■Bloghttps://ay-style.net/?p=60827

Today, I visited a hotel bakery near Gojo-Kawaramachi. The hotel, called Hotel Kyonomori Arinsya, is known for its rustic countryside feel with wooden warmth. The first floor houses a restaurant where I've had lunch before. I heard that they now offer takeout for their bagels and breads that were previously only available for guests or for dining in. The sign outside the hotel read "Bakery Dining 603." The number "603" comes from the address "Kotoda-cho 603." They had a variety of bagels, scones, pretzels, and breads on display, including some unique and innovative options. I purchased three items: a ham summer truffle German mozzarella pepper pretzel bagel, a spring love burnt sweet orange cream cheese bagel, and a hojicha and raisin scone. The bagels were made with homemade natural yeast and were soft and flavorful. The ham and cheese were generously used in the first bagel, while the second bagel had a refreshing combination of sweet orange and cream cheese. The scone had a lovely aroma of hojicha and a hint of raisin. Overall, the experience felt more like enjoying high-quality bread from a restaurant rather than a regular bakery. I would love to visit again in the future.

I found this place on my way back from eating udon noodles nearby. It seems they also run a small hotel, with breads displayed on the first floor that can be enjoyed from breakfast to dinner. When I asked the staff outside if I could buy the bread, they kindly replied, "Sure!" I bought a natural yeast bagel (200 yen), a natural yeast pretzel (200 yen), and a bagel with homemade smoked ham, cheese, and pepper mustard (280 yen). The flavors were rich and deep, and even though I don't usually eat bagels, I enjoyed them. The name of the hotel is "Kyoto no Mori Arinoya."

The bagel was a bit small but dense, providing a satisfying chewy texture. It had a natural sweetness and a nice wheat flavor, which made it delicious. I ordered an iced coffee at the cafe, but it was a bit pricey.

I came across this restaurant on Instagram and it caught my attention. It's a small hotel located in the middle of Kyoto, and they also sell bagels made with natural yeast (raisins), which can be ordered online. What surprised me is that the hotel's chef is just one person who handles all the cooking. A real superman, isn't it? The bagel set is an assortment of 6 pieces (5 bagels, 1 scone) for 2000 yen. There is also a set of 12 pieces for 4000 yen. I placed my order and received it within a week. The contents were all chosen by the chef, but I was able to request items without butter or cream cheese. The bagels were small, about 9cm in diameter, and had a strong chewy texture. My favorite was the whole grain bagel. The salted green tea scone pretzel and the black sugar and walnut miso paste pretzel were also delicious. The Earl Grey, white bean paste, and kiwi jam bagel had a lovely aroma, and the black sesame milk sweet potato paste bagel had a nice sesame fragrance. The coffee and fig scone was fluffy and had a nice texture. Overall, I was very satisfied with the flavors and quality of the bagels and scones.
