It's Kyoto. Inside Kyoto city. South side of Kyoto Station. From Yuzujyo to Kujo Street, a little east, this shop was found. The day I visited, I planned to have an early dinner, leisurely drink, and go to bed early, but for some reason my stomach started rumbling late at night... I left the room and headed to this place... On the way to the shop, I kept telling myself that late-night meals turn into useless fat, but ended up arriving at the shop without turning back. I sat at the counter and immediately ordered... A large serving of beef bowl and miso soup. The shop was quite crowded for a late night. However, the beef bowl and miso soup arrived quickly after ordering, in about 3-4 minutes. I quickly added pickled ginger and shichimi to the beef bowl, and sprinkled some shichimi on the miso soup, and started eating. The beef bowl had a sweet sauce that paired well with the sweetness of the onions and thinly sliced beef. The miso soup was also delicious as usual. And in just 4-5 minutes, I finished the meal quickly. It felt like the time spent in the shop and the time it took to get there were almost the same.

I had work at Toji Temple in Kyoto again tonight, I really work hard. Since I still had some time left from my last beef bowl, I went to the Yoshinoya in Kujo to finish it off. This Yoshinoya is different from other stores, it has a family restaurant-like atmosphere, kind of like Gusto. The interior is a little stylish, so there are a lot of families. I ordered the beef sukiyaki set meal, and you can get extra rice. Considering the price, I can't complain. I was a little concerned that there were a lot of carrots in the pot, but it was delicious. Had dinner at a chain restaurant specializing in beef bowl. They had just launched a new dish called "oyakodon" so I decided to give it a try. The restaurant was self-service, which I wasn't used to, so I felt a bit confused. The egg had a nice dashi flavor and the portion size of the regular was just right. The cost performance was good. What I had: Oyakodon (regular) for 437 yen.

During the day, I decided to have a simple meal at the Yoshinoya Kyoto Kujo store. Huh? The color of the sign (photo 1) is different. Did they renovate it? Is it April Fools' Day? (laughs) Normally, Yoshinoya has a U-shaped counter where you sit first, check the menu carefully, and then order from the waiter who brings you tea. However, at this Kyoto Kujo store, as soon as you enter, there is a counter where you have to order first. Is it because of April Fools' Day? (laughs) I prefer to check the menu first before ordering at any restaurant. That's why I don't like places with ticket systems, but here it's even worse as you have to order from a waiter instead of a machine. I was annoyed, but I took the menu and said, "Let me take a look," and moved away from the counter. After a few minutes, I ordered the "Beef Yakiniku Set" for 657 yen including tax. Then I was given a pager and told, "When the food is ready, the pager will ring, please come here to pick it up." It's basically a "food court style." And everything from tea, water, chopsticks, condiments, to rice refills is self-service for the customer to walk around. Normally, when a restaurant or gas station is self-service, the prices are lower. But at this Yoshinoya, the prices haven't changed at all. Is this because of April Fools' Day? (laughs) When the dish (photo 2) came out, I was surprised. It's completely different from the poster displayed outside (photo 3)! Is this really because of April Fools' Day? (laughs) Everything has changed at Yoshinoya. Oh, there's one thing that hasn't changed. That is the miso soup with no ingredients at all.

This is a Yoshinoya restaurant located on the street leading east from Kujo Street before reaching Yuzakoji Street. They have a parking lot and specialize in the popular dish of fried chicken. When I arrived around noon, there were already customers inside and a couple more came in after me. You order at the entrance and then wait at your table with a number tag. They offer self-service water, tea, pickled ginger, eco-friendly chopsticks, and children's tableware. You can get free refills of rice (just bring your bowl to the counter for a refill). I asked the staff for disposable chopsticks and they provided them. My husband had the beef bowl with fried chicken set for 767 yen, and I had the regular fried chicken bowl for 503 yen. The hot fried chicken was delicious and reasonably priced. They also provide hand sanitizer at the entrance and have acrylic dividers on each table. The only downside might be the eco-friendly chopsticks, which may not be to everyone's liking.

This time, I visited "Yoshinoya Kyoto Kujo Store" located in Minami-ku, Kyoto City. I felt like eating Yoshinoya's beef bowl after a long time, but while looking at the menu, I ended up ordering the Kalbi set meal. It was my first time visiting this store, and it was different from the usual Yoshinoya, more like a hamburger shop in terms of interior design. The spacious parking lot was convenient. The Kalbi set meal was quickly prepared and it was the usual delicious Yoshinoya. Fast, cheap, and tasty as always!

Similar products can be found in other stores, but I always end up going to Yoshinoya because of the deliciousness of the beef and the perfect cooking of the rice. A winter staple, the "Gyusuki Nabe Zen" (regular size) for 648 yen. The beef has Yoshinoya's unique taste - tender and flavorful. Plus, the free refills of rice are served in a bowl that comes with the beef bowl, so it's already quite filling. The rice, cooked specifically for the beef bowl at Yoshinoya, is firm and really tasty. With a 50 yen discount from a mail coupon and 20 T-points for answering a survey through the QR code on the receipt, it ends up being about a 10% discount, making it a great deal.

I visited the restaurant late on my way back from an outing. There were no other customers when I arrived. There were a few people getting takeout. My husband ordered the beef bowl with fried chicken set for 698 yen (to go), and I ordered the regular beef bowl with egg for 417 yen (to go). My husband got extra rice for free. We ordered at the counter and received a buzzer for self-service. Water and pickles were also self-service. There was alcohol disinfection at the entrance.

I was surprised to receive an advertisement in the mail last month (@_@). It turns out that Yoshigyu has changed its format. They now offer various types of gyudon, karaage don, aji fry don, and set meals at different times. They also have a drink bar and desserts. I went there on Sunday around 1 pm with a flyer (discount coupon included). The restaurant looks similar to Matsunoya or Yayoiken at first glance. You order at the counter after entering, instead of using a ticket machine. You receive a buzzer to notify you when your order is ready (similar to a food court). After eating, you return the buzzer. Water, tea, and pickled ginger are self-service. When I mentioned to the staff at the register that it must be tough adjusting to the changes, they all seemed busy but happy, saying "It's tough because it's so different!" On that day, I had the Kara-gyu (karaage and beef bowl) for 558 yen, and my husband had the Beef Bowl Karaage Set for 698 yen (rice refills are available). The karaage was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, while the beef bowl seemed a bit light on the toppings. It has only been about 10 days since the renewal, but the customer base has changed from the original Yoshinoya image. There were families and groups of housewives, creating a lively and cheerful atmosphere. The seating consists of counter seats for individuals (facing outside) and tables for two people (can be combined). It seems they are open 24 hours, but I'm not sure if the late-night menu is the same as during the day. We are happy to have a nearby restaurant that we can visit both during the day and at night. For those driving, there is parking space for 16 cars, but since the store is located east of the Kujo Aburakoji intersection (Route 1), you need to exit Kujo Street from east to west to enter the store.

Today, I had a hearty breakfast, so I decided to have a light lunch at "Yoshinoya (Kyoto Kujo store)." I sat down, looked at the menu, and remembered the unpleasant experience I had last time I was here. I ordered the same "Gyudon Sukinabe Zen (large serving for 790 yen)" as last time. When it was served, my suspicions were confirmed. Just like last time, what I had ordered was not the "extra green onions" version, but the regular "Gyudon Sukinabe Zen" in a large serving. I was right after all (laughs).

I went to Yoshinoya and ordered the familiar "Gyudon Sukiyaki Set (Large)" from the commercial for 790 yen. At first, I ordered extra green onions for 100 yen, but there were only two pieces of green onions. I was sure this was a mistake, so I told the staff. The staff apologized and said they would remake it, but I told them it was okay and just ate it as it was. At this point, I couldn't help but feel distrust towards the restaurant, and I found it hard to believe if what I ate was really a large portion.

Order: Beef bowl and fried chicken set meal, a popular set meal. No matter what others say, I always choose this set. Today, I enjoyed a delicious meal again. Thank you for the feast.
