The classic sandwich with poor cost performance, NINUKI sandwich purchased with the equivalent of 3 eggs of Tamba black beans? The taste feels lacking in specialness, and it's a waste to pay 770 yen for this level of egg sandwich.

I went to Fuwatoro Tamago Sand Nishinotoin Gojo, a tamago sand specialty shop located a little up from the intersection of Nishinotoin and Gojo on a Sunday at 1:00 PM, and there was a good variety of products available. They also sell eggs inside the store! I bought the NINUKI Sand and the Mentaiko Cheese Sand. The NINUKI Sand had parsley on top, while the Mentaiko Cheese Sand had chopped nori. The NINUKI Sand had mustard in it, which added a nice touch. The bread for each sandwich was different - the Mentaiko one had white bread, while the NINUKI one had whole grain(?) bread that had a slight unique taste. Both sandwiches had a fluffy and chewy texture with a slightly sweet bread. Personally, I preferred the taste of the Mentaiko Cheese sandwich.

Last September, I visited a specialty egg sandwich shop that opened. I bought two items: the "Tsubutsubu Sandwich" for ¥820, made with egg salad using three eggs from Kyoto's Chanotsuki, and the "Teriyaki Egg" for ¥660, which is a sandwich with sweet and savory ginger-flavored chicken and half-cooked eggs. Both sandwiches were rich and creamy, with a strong buttery flavor that complemented the eggs well.

I went on a business trip to Kyoto and didn't have time to have a leisurely lunch. I came across this egg sandwich specialty shop while researching on the Shinkansen, and my expectations were high just from that. The egg sandwich exceeded my expectations - the half-cooked egg had no strong smell and was so delicious that I could eat it endlessly. The bread was also tasty, with just the right amount of moisture and a great flavor. It was worth the walk from Gojo Station. ✨

On a Saturday morning, my wife and I were watching TV when a short program featuring Kyoto's popular gourmet food came up, and this shop was highlighted. It was close to our home, so we decided to visit for lunch. When we arrived, there were over 10 people in line, possibly also viewers of the TV show. The shop had a cute exterior, reflecting the young female owner's sense of style. We ended up buying four varieties of sandwiches in packs of six. The shop's name was "NINUKI," with options like NINUKI with extra volume, teriyaki and tuna. The NINUKI with extra volume had cucumber for a refreshing texture and taste. The egg sandwich was incredibly delicious. The teriyaki had a perfect balance of sauce and creamy yolk. The whole wheat bread was also very tasty. Each pack cost around 600-800 yen, making it a high-end sandwich, but the quality of ingredients and craftsmanship were evident. It was very delicious. Thank you for the meal.

Ever since it opened, this egg sandwich specialty shop has been a huge hit, attracting attention from the media! The signboard with an egg is the landmark of the shop. The interior is decorated with egg motifs. Cushions, lamps, and even the aprons of the staff are all egg-themed! The shop is predominantly yellow and white, creating a fun egg-filled atmosphere. The delightful showcase displays a variety of egg sandwiches lined up. I couldn't decide which one to try, so I ended up ordering four different kinds! W Sandwich (NINUKI Sandwich and Tsubu-Tsubu Sandwich) for 800 yen: "NINUKI Sandwich" - I asked the staff, and they recommended warming it up. The bread was so fluffy just by lifting it up! When I took a bite, it was so soft and gooey! The bread and butter alone were delicious, but the egg was melting like meat... The slightly orange-colored egg was so creamy, like scrambled eggs! The mustard added a subtle flavor, not too spicy, just enough to enhance the taste. This sandwich is truly delicious when warmed up! It felt like having a hotel breakfast all packed into a sandwich! "Tsubu-Tsubu Egg Sandwich" - I could feel the crunchy texture of the egg along with the rich sweetness and umami. Inside, there were cucumbers and mayonnaise! It seems like there was no mustard in this one. "Mentaiko Cheese Sandwich" for 550 yen - When I asked the staff for their personal recommendation, they pointed me to this one! It starts with a fluffy egg, followed by the gentle flavor of mentaiko! So delicious! It's a sandwich, but it makes you want to eat it with rice, it's a mysterious combination! "Teriyaki Egg" for 660 yen - A combination of tsubu-tsubu egg with a sunny-side-up egg on top! It also includes sweet and savory teriyaki chicken and cabbage! This one had the most ingredients, yet it was surprisingly affordable... But I have to say, the warmed up NINUKI Sandwich was the most delicious! I was surprised that the volume was not enough according to some reviews, but for me, one pack was filling enough! I heard that there were times when they sold out early in the morning, but recently, it has become more stable during weekday lunch hours. They open at 9 am, and you can also dine in!

The shop had a white-based theme with cute illustrations outside. The sandwiches lined up in the showcase all had beautifully sliced eggs and looked very delicious. I tried the teriyaki chicken sandwich. The runny egg yolk and sweet-salty chicken flavor mixed together richly, creating a blissful moment. I would like to try a different type of sandwich next time.

I arrived before 3 o'clock and was surprised. There was only one type of item available - Tuna Mayo sandwich (540 yen) x 2. The sandwiches were sold out as soon as I left the store, which had a closed sign up. I ate them immediately and they had a solid flavor, not too heavy and very tasty! The bread was also delicious! It must be popular. Next time, I'll try going earlier!

NINUKI, which has been featured in magazines and on TV, offers an egg sandwich (around 750 yen) and French toast (around 350 yen). The packaging and interior of the shop are very cute. Although the access is a bit inconvenient, it seems walkable from Shijo-Karasuma. Both the eggs and the bread are delicious, with a gentle sweetness and a soft, creamy texture that makes you want to eat more. The shop opens at 9 am on Sundays, and when I went right away, there was a person related to the shop sitting at a table inside, which made it a bit awkward to enter. I still want to go back to eat there, and the staff who served me were very kind, but that one aspect was a bit disappointing.

Visited in September 2022 ◎ No Tabelog score at the time of posting (1 review) Egg sandwiches have been becoming a bit of a trend recently, haven't they? In the midst of that, a new egg sandwich specialty store called "NINUKI" opened on September 1st (Thursday) in Nishinotoin Matsubara, between Shijo Station and Gojo Station. There were a few female customers in the store, all of whom were takeout customers. There are also three two-person tables in a yellow color reminiscent of egg yolks, so eating in is also possible! There were various egg sandwiches lined up in the showcase, including rusk. I ordered the "W Tamago Sandwich" which allows you to enjoy two types of sandwiches, and the recommended "Milkshake" drink. The "Milkshake" took a little time to prepare, so they might be making it after you order. ◆ Tsubutsubu Egg Sandwich A sandwich with plenty of soft-boiled eggs and original cream, with cucumber sandwiched in between. ◆ NINUKI Sandwich A fusion of unique original texture eggs and homemade premium bread! The "NINUKI Sandwich" can also be warmed up, but I asked for it as it is. Both sandwiches seem to be using carefully selected Kyoto eggs called "Kuro Tanba" that are rich and flavorful. ⏺️ Milkshake 650 yen I thought a milkshake was quite expensive at 10 yen more than a beer (Heartland)! But it comes with a choice of egg case. If you bring your own bottle (without the egg case), it will be 500 yen and cheaper! It tasted a bit sweeter than I expected, but the milkshake, which I hadn't had in a while, was delicious. The sandwiches were both delicious and allowed me to fully enjoy the eggs, but I slightly preferred the "Tsubutsubu Egg Sandwich" (⑅˘͈ ᵕ ˘͈) The "NINUKI Sandwich" seems to be the most recommended. It's already quite popular, and it seems to sell out in the mornings on weekends. The French toast is also popular, and it was sold out again in the morning today. Hearing that makes me really curious! When I mentioned that I would take the egg case home, they washed it and gave it to me properly. (๑˃̵ᴗ˂̵)و Thank you for the meal.

For those who love eggs, there is a new "egg sandwich" shop in Kyoto that you shouldn't miss. The name of the shop is "NINUKI," which means "boiled egg" in Japanese, so you can tell that it is a shop specializing in egg dishes. I found this place on social media and decided to visit on a holiday when I was in Kyoto. When I arrived in the afternoon, some items were already sold out. I splurged a bit and bought 5 items, including drinks, to have for dinner at home later. The "W Egg Sandwich" set includes the "NINUKI Sandwich" and the "Chunky Egg Sandwich." The NINUKI Sandwich has a scrambled egg filling that is even softer than usual, sandwiched between slices of bread with chopped parsley on top. The Chunky Egg Sandwich has a filling made from finely mashed boiled eggs mixed with cucumber, also sandwiched between slices of bread. The "Ham and Egg Sandwich" features ham, the Chunky Egg Sandwich filling, and a soft-boiled egg all together in one sandwich, with black pepper as an accent. The "Chicken Cutlet and Egg Sandwich" combines a chicken cutlet, the NINUKI Sandwich filling, and sauerkraut in one sandwich. The "French Toast" needs no explanation, but it is made with a baguette-like bread instead of regular bread. The "Milkshake" I bought to go was made without ice, resulting in a smooth texture, a moderately sweet taste, but a smaller quantity than expected. Overall, none of the items stood out with any particularly unique features, just decent egg sandwiches. The cost performance is not great as the taste of the good quality eggs used doesn't seem to be fully brought out. I won't be returning and don't recommend it much.

A specialty store focusing on eggs, which is still rare nationwide, has opened. "Ninuki" in Kyoto dialect means "boiled egg". The main menu here features Kyoto's carefully selected "Kuro Tanba" eggs with a rich flavor, served in fluffy homemade bread as egg sandwiches. They offer a variety of options such as Ham and Egg Sandwich, Double Egg Sandwich, and Spicy Cod Roe and Cheese Sandwich. Some of the recommended items include: - Parent and Child Cutlet Egg Sandwich (650 yen): A voluminous sandwich filled with scrambled eggs made from two eggs and chicken cutlet. - Milkshake (650 yen): A milkshake that is making a comeback with the Showa retro cafe boom. It uses "Chanotsuki" eggs with Uji tea, offering a vibrant yellow yolk and a refreshing taste with a hint of sweetness. Plus, the egg carton packaging is adorable!

I went there because I saw it on TV, but it was empty with no customers. The shop was small, not particularly welcoming, and the staff were not friendly. The taste of the food was nothing special.

Egg sandwich with whole egg and egg salad sandwich. I forgot to take a picture and remembered halfway through eating. I can taste the egg. I wonder if they change the type of bread based on the filling inside.

Egg Balloon is an incredibly cute shop with lots of delicious egg sandwiches. I bought the scrambled egg sandwich and a boiled egg sandwich, both of which were filled with plenty of eggs and tasted amazing. The tuna and pork cutlet sandwiches also looked delicious.
