2022/6 "Plenty of Pesticide-Free Vegetables - Surprisingly Delicious Karaage" by Akiton (..) 'BiOcafe' ✨✨
"BiOcafe" is Japan's first organic cafe restaurant that uses exclusively pesticide-free and chemical fertilizer-free vegetables. I love that you can enjoy plenty of pesticide-free vegetables and the creative dishes are delicious. I decided to visit after a long time. The restaurant opened in December 2003 and is located a 6-minute walk from JR Shibuya Station on Spain Hill. The interior is small. How will the food taste (*´∇`)ノ
■ Points
- Lunch comes with a salad bar of 100% pesticide-free BiO vegetables
- Four types of salad dressings are available (daily specials): onion, ginger, ethnic, lemon, cabos, Caesar dressing
■ Brown Rice, Gluten-Free Karaage 1,780 yen (tax included)
⚫ Gluten-Free Karaage with Tartar Sauce
This is a wheat-free, egg-free, milk-free, gluten-free karaage. It looks delicious from the appearance ✨✨ And when I took a bite... Mmm, delicious (///∇///) The karaage is crispy and juicy. It's much tastier than your average karaage. I was a little surprised.
........................................................................
⚫ Brown Rice
The brown rice eaten with the karaage is also delicious. It is cooked well and has a chewy texture.
........................................................................
⚫ Pesticide-Free Vegetables
The pesticide-free vegetable salad bar is full of flavor. The vegetables are rich in taste. The dressings also have a nice flavor. The watercress was delicious.
........................................................................
⚫ Bread, Soup
There are 4-5 types of bread. The soup has a gentle flavor, which was nice.
........................................................................
⚫ Herbal Tea
There are 2 types of herbal tea. It's soothing.
■ Service
The service is proper.
■ Price
I think it's cheap. 1,780 yen including tax. I wish there was one near my house. Ah, I feel healed (*´ェ`*) It's nice to be able to eat lots of delicious pesticide-free vegetables. And the "Karaage & Brown Rice" was the best! I was very satisfied. Thank you for the meal m(_ _)m

I visited "BiOcafe" in Shibuya. It's an organic cafe located a little up the hill. I found this place by chance while I was in Shibuya for work. I was drawn in by the vegetable buffet outside. The interior of the cafe is also made of natural materials, creating a cozy atmosphere with relaxing background music reminiscent of a tropical cafe. I was seated on a high chair and ordered after hearing the explanation of the menu. For lunch, when you order a main dish, you also get access to a vegetable buffet, soup, and bread. The salad was full of vegetables and the soup had a strong ginger flavor, warming my body. I was already quite satisfied at this point, including the detox water. The main dish arrived: Brown rice pilaf with broccoli (¥1680 tax included). The brown rice pilaf looked beautiful, with broccoli on top. It was creamy and delicious, with a rich flavor that didn't taste like just vegetables. The caramelized onions added a nice touch, and there was a surprise underneath the broccoli (later found out to be fried wheat gluten). Even though I'm not vegan, I found this dish to be incredibly tasty. It was so delicious, I was surprised. There were plenty of vegetables, and personally, I was very satisfied. My body felt really good after eating this meal. I paid with a credit card and it was a great experience. I will definitely come back. Thank you for the meal.

The service maintained a good balance of distance, and the course was stable. It was a good value for the price, I recommend it. The 3,800 yen course included soup (gazpacho), appetizer, main course, and dessert. The cold gazpacho was refreshing in the hot summer weather. The main course was not a typical fry, but a unique dish made with millet, which was delicious.

Second visit. My friend and I were planning to have a drink and lunch, and even though we had many options, she chose this healthy-focused restaurant. I made a reservation through Tabelog the day before, and we both ordered the following:
- Karaage lunch (me)
- Monthly lunch special: Gapao rice (friend)
Both priced at 1680 yen.
We also added the option for sparkling wine all-you-can-drink for an additional 1000 yen.
Last time, we visited on a Saturday and managed to get a table early, but it was crowded and the buffet area was difficult to navigate. The all-you-can-drink service was also a bit slow.
This time, on a weekday, the restaurant was much emptier. We had made a reservation, but the place was only about 30% full. However, the seating was still cramped. Despite the abundance of empty seats, the staff seated a family of four right next to us, making it feel crowded and uncomfortable. The service was lacking, and the seating arrangement seemed unnecessary given the current situation with Covid.
The variety of vegetables seemed good at first glance, but it turned out to be mostly the same type of leafy greens. There were no tomatoes or other options. This was a bit disappointing, and we only went for one refill this time.
However, the salad, tea, and bread buffet was a good deal, and the 90-minute sparkling wine all-you-can-drink for 1000 yen was very appealing. The staff even came to refill our glasses when it ran out, which was surprising and appreciated.
The popular karaage dish we tried this time was surprisingly juicy and delicious, almost like regular karaage. It was very tasty, and I can see why it's popular.
Although the restaurant is a bit of a walk from Shibuya Station and the seating is cramped, the menu and offerings are great. I will probably come back again due to the quality of the food and service. Thank you for the meal.

I wanted to eat a lot of vegetables for lunch because I will be having yakiniku for dinner. I visited this restaurant with that in mind. The salad bar had a decent variety (I think around 7 types) of vegetables, including some rare ones that I don't usually eat, so I was satisfied. The bread and soup were also delicious. The issue was with the main dishes. This time, I ordered Gapao rice and Carbonara. The Gapao rice was delicious, and I think they did a good job of incorporating brown rice. However, the Carbonara was extremely salty. I managed to finish it, but it wasn't very appetizing. The restaurant was crowded, and the replenishment of vegetables was slow. However, there were many cute girls, both customers and staff, who seemed health-conscious, so just looking at them was a feast for the eyes.

I made a reservation thinking it was a stylish organic shop, but first of all, the appearance was a bit disappointing that I passed by twice. The food was also organic and vegan??, I realized that I should understand this kind of thing before visiting. The interior of the store was also lacking a relaxed atmosphere, which was a bit disappointing. The bread was delicious.

After an event in Shibuya, I happened to pass by this organic salad bar with a sign that caught my eye. It turns out it's a popular spot, but I didn't know that at the time (laughs). I decided to drop in for lunch on a whim, and it turned out to be a lucky choice. The place was quite busy, and soon all the seats were taken. The lunch set was around 1780 yen, and it included a main dish, salad, bread, drink, and soup buffet, which I found to be very cost-effective. The salads at the salad bar were all fresh and delicious, with a variety of veggies including some unique ones. The cherry tomatoes were surprisingly sweet, and I was happy to see zucchini slices. The salad bar also had pumpkin seeds, which was a nice touch. The main pasta dishes were hit or miss depending on personal taste. The atmosphere was cozy, and the staff was friendly, although a bit slow at times. Overall, it was a satisfying and healthy lunch experience, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a good salad bar. Don't forget to make a reservation on weekends, as it can get quite crowded. I had a great time and left feeling very satisfied.

This time, I went on an undercover investigation at an organic cafe called Biocafe. It had been about 15 years since I last visited the bustling Shibuya Spain-zaka area. The lunch set included pesticide-free vegetables, homemade bread, detox water, herbal tea, and unlimited soup refills. Customers could choose one main dish from 4-6 vegan and gluten-free options. The cafe was quiet and stylish, with almost exclusively female clientele. The food was light and not filling, but that was to be expected at this type of establishment. It may not be suitable for those who love hearty, fatty meals, but for those who care about their diet and appreciate the concept of the cafe, it would be a delightful experience. The main dish, such as the fried salmon, was crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and flavorful without any fishy taste. The vegetables were fresh and delicious, although I wished there were more variety in the leafy greens. The dressings and soups were also tasty. The bread, however, was too hard for my liking. Overall, it was a great experience and I would recommend it to anyone interested in trying out a healthy dining option.

I used it at lunchtime. The lunch was all-you-can-eat bread and salad, all of which were very delicious and enjoyable at a great value. Unfortunately, the fried chicken I was looking for was sold out, but I will try it again if I have the chance. It's also nice to have a 90-minute all-you-can-drink wine option.

I used it for lunch! You can choose a main dish and enjoy all-you-can-eat salad, bread, soup, and drinks such as tea for 1680 yen! I think this price is cheap in Shibuya! There were many types of salads, including some that you don't see in supermarkets, so it was very fulfilling :)

🔲Dried Fruit and Walnut Cake
This cake is packed with dried fruits and walnuts, especially towards the bottom where the fruits and walnuts are tightly packed with just enough batter in between. It feels very luxurious but not overwhelming, with a rich buttery taste that I love. However, when feeling a bit down, this gentle cake seems like the perfect choice.

A popular cafe in Shibuya known for its pesticide-free vegetable salad bar. The vegetables were delicious, and the dressings were especially tasty. The main dishes included dishes like brown rice pasta, vegan cheese dishes, and gluten-free options, showing the cafe's attention to detail. I went with my family for lunch, and as expected, most of the customers were women. There were also a few families with small children. Children can enjoy the salad, soup, and bread bar for 500 yen without ordering a main dish. The salad mainly consisted of leafy greens like frilly lettuce, cherry tomatoes, and cilantro, along with some unfamiliar vegetables. It was a bit disappointing that the names of the vegetables weren't displayed, but everything tasted surprisingly delicious with the homemade dressings. The brown rice pasta was delicious, especially with the lemon cream sauce. The fried chicken was larger and juicier than expected, and the brown rice was cooked perfectly.

I made a reservation online in advance and entered the restaurant. It was convenient to be able to make a reservation online. I wanted to eat something healthy, so this time I came to eat vegan food. I ordered the salad bar course. The first thing that surprised me was the salad bar and unlimited mini bagels! There were about 7 kinds? Maybe more? Various herbs and bitter vegetables were available for unlimited servings. The tomatoes were sweet and delicious! There were also three types of elaborate dressings. I thought it looked good for my body as I ate. The only thing I was personally dissatisfied with was that I didn't know where to put the lid when I opened the lid of the salad bar, and the tongs were placed on top of the lid, so I was a little concerned about hygiene. I snacked on the mini bagels while waiting for the main dish to arrive. There were 2 types of tea available for unlimited refills. I chose the gluten-free fried chicken as the main dish. It was crispy and delicious. I am full and satisfied. If this restaurant were near my home, I would definitely come back again to get my vegetables fix~

Delicious food, and I'm happy that they have a vegetable bar! The dishes can be hit or miss depending on what you order. The cold pasta had a nice texture and was absolutely delicious. The fried chicken-like dish was tasty, but the coating was a bit hard, and it might be too filling for women, more suited for men. Both dishes had a strong garlic flavor, so be aware of that. I would definitely want to come back again.

●Access: 4 minutes walk from Shibuya Station
●Visit: 1st time
●Purpose: Lunch with friends from work
●About the restaurant: This restaurant is a branch of the beloved "Human Relationships Cafe" in Shibuya, which has been around for over 40 years and was selected as one of the Cafe Top 100 in 2022. It is located just up the hill from Spain-zaka, on the right side of the 1st floor. They use completely pesticide-free and chemical fertilizer-free vegetables, making it Japan's first organic cafe-restaurant. Their lunch comes with an all-you-can-eat pesticide-free salad bar. The restaurant is also famous for its gluten-free bagels in addition to vegetables.
●Ordered menu: All-you-can-eat pesticide-free vegetable salad bar + Brown rice raw pasta with soy milk lemon cream sauce, Brown rice raw pasta with vegan cheese carbonara (shared with friend)
●Impression: I had been curious about this restaurant since it was close to my workplace, and I finally had the opportunity to visit with a female colleague for lunch. I made a lunch reservation on Tabelog around 10 am on the day of the visit. The highlight of the lunch, the "pesticide-free salad bar," had a wide variety of vegetables and dressings, so I ended up going back for seconds (laughs). For the main dishes, we decided to share two types of pasta since it was a special occasion. I was pleasantly surprised by the chewy texture of the brown rice raw pasta, which was just as wonderful as regular wheat pasta. The soy milk lemon cream sauce had a rich creaminess that beautifully blended with the refreshing acidity of the lemon, leaving a refreshing aftertaste. This exquisite combination is perfect for hot summer days. The carbonara used vegan cheese, and the soybean flavor was distinct but not overpowering, adding depth and richness to the dish, making it a delightful taste experience. The salad bar also offered soups and bread in addition to vegetables, allowing us to enjoy a healthy meal to our heart's content and satisfying our appetites perfectly. We ended the meal by enjoying a luxurious all-you-can-drink herbal tea, concluding this rich lunch experience. I look forward to visiting again in between work. Thank you for a delicious and enjoyable time.

Organic vegetables, soup, and bread buffet with one main dish and dessert for 2600 yen. It's a bit pricey, but the place is popular just for being organic. I tried the organic lemon pasta and it wasn't bad!

Today's dessert time was a visit to Biocafe. I ordered the Cake Set with a Cattle Noa cake and a soy milk iced coffee. Cattle Noa is a tart-like pastry filled with various nuts, made without any eggs or dairy products. The nuts with just the right amount of sweetness and the firm crust are incredibly delicious! The sweetness is not overpowering, and the nutty aroma and richness are highlighted, making it a super delicious dessert. When eaten with the soy milk cream on the side, the gentle sweetness of the soy milk wraps around it, creating another exquisite taste. I enjoyed delicious sweets. Thank you for the meal.

I ordered the carbonara lunch set. The noodles had a unique flavor, similar to soba, and were delicious. The portion size was not too big, so I was able to finish it all quickly. The salad was all-you-can-eat, which was very satisfying. The cherry tomatoes were sweet and delicious.

The bagels at Biocafe are very large and delicious! I like to warm them up in the toaster oven for about 5 minutes to make the surface crispy. I found that microwaving them makes them less chewy, so toasting is the best way to go. Interestingly, the blueberry yogurt is the largest size they offer. I recommend buying two different flavored bagels, cutting them in half, and then sandwiching different flavors together. You can either enjoy them on the spot or freeze them with plastic wrap to enjoy different flavors later.

The soy milk carbonara had a slight soy milk flavor, but it was delicious. The resort with brown rice and mochi was voluminous and seasoned in a Japanese style, making it tasty. Inside the restaurant, there were various vegetables (leafy greens), hijiki seaweed, and all-you-can-eat bagels. The bagels were served in bite-sized pieces, cut into about 8 slices from one bagel, making them easy to eat and enjoyable.

I visited this shop located on Shibuya Spain-zaka, as it is known for its organic vegetable salad bar. I arrived towards the end of lunchtime around 2 pm, and managed to quickly get a seat between lunch and cafe time. The shop is filled with about 95% women, with a diverse range of ages but mainly focused on girls' gatherings. I chose the carbonara from the menu, made with brown rice pasta and soy cheese. Now, onto the awaited salad buffet, which also included detox water, soup, and several types of bagels for sale. The salad consisted of about 7 different leafy vegetables besides tomatoes and bell peppers, all of which I had never seen before. I tried a bit of each type, and they all had different aromas and bitterness, making the taste rich. There were three homemade dressings available, making it a great way to enjoy a variety of vegetables. The carbonara was truly like a vegan carbonara, with a tofu cream pasta that had a Japanese twist to it. Although I usually lean towards the opposite of vegan, it was a nice change once in a while.
