Char siu ramen for 1,000 yen at Sake and Charcoal Grill Masayoshi in Minami-ku, Kyoto. During lunch hours, this yakitori restaurant serves only one ramen dish, deviating from their usual yakitori donburi offerings. The small restaurant had three staff members, one of whom was busy preparing chicken meatballs for the evening. The background music playing was JPOP. The ramen arrived approximately 8 minutes after entering the restaurant. Kyoto ramen is divided into three main categories: soy sauce ramen (pork and chicken broth), lard ramen (chicken broth with back fat), and chicken white broth ramen. Masayoshi serves the first type, similar to Shinpukusui-kan style, with flavorful soup, green onions, char siu, and menma toppings. The thin straight noodles complement the broth well. A garlic miso condiment adds extra flavor. While not particularly outstanding, it is a satisfying choice for an occasional visit. Thank you for the meal.

It had been a while since my last visit, but the restaurant was as busy as ever. There were many regular customers. I started by ordering a draft beer and some delicious Iburi Gakko pickles as an appetizer. Then, I was served some Kanpachi sashimi as a starter, which was slightly sweet and very tasty. Next, I ordered fried horse mackerel and potato salad (Korotama). For yakitori, I had liver, skin, liver, gizzard, wasabi-flavored thigh, chicken wing, and tail. I also ordered the recommended sake by the sake sommelier owner, which included a rich and smooth sake, a fragrant sake, and a refreshing sake. They were all delicious and easy to drink. Finally, I ordered soup to warm up before leaving. Overall, everything was delicious.

I visited a yakitori restaurant in the neighborhood. It used to be an izakaya on Kuzuno Ooji, but it has moved to Kujocho. I ordered a Japanese-style kinoko salad, a mixed plate of five assorted yakitori, and fried horse mackerel. Then I also had sweet shrimp tempura, bonjiri, sunaguri, tsukune, and herb salt chicken wings. Everything was cooked perfectly without too much charring, juicy and delicious. It was a pleasant surprise as I was expecting the typical charred look from charcoal grilling. Overall, the food was really delicious. It was easy to see why this place is loved by regular customers. I had a great meal in a very nice atmosphere.

I went to Ramen Hiru and ordered the rich soy sauce ramen, rice, and chicken cutlet. However, the oil did not agree with me. I think just the ramen would have been enough. It cost 1100 yen for ramen, rice, and a mini chicken cutlet.
