I wandered around Kyoto looking for a birthday cake close to 10 p.m. When I was about to give up, I stumbled upon a small shop and was pleasantly surprised. I ordered a mille-feuille chestnut cake with rum that was rich and delicious. I wonder why it hasn't been featured yet (*´ω`*)

I had a craving for something sweet during the day, so I came to buy some. Eclair, strawberry tart, fraisier, rare cheesecake. All for takeout. I haven't eaten everything yet, so I can't give a full review, but they were delicious! It seems like they are doing it all by themselves. There is also a café inside! They even have a menu just for the café.

I visited this cake shop on a weekday night in September 2019. I came to Kyoto to escape the lingering summer heat. This time, I am exploring the temples and traditional townhouses as part of the "Kyoto Summer Journey" event organized by the city. I bought a cake to enjoy back at my hotel. This shop stays open until 1 a.m. The cheesecake (590 yen tax included) was topped with strawberries, grapes, blueberries, and a chocolate decoration resembling a candle. It was beautifully made with a rich and creamy cheesecake layer on top of a firm tart base. I could taste a hint of herbs in it. It paired well with red wine and was delicious.

Soleil's cakes left a lasting impression on me from the day I first tried them, making it a memorable cake shop that I wanted to revisit immediately. I don't often come to Gion, so when I happened to pass by, there were usually few fresh cakes available. My return visit ended up being in April. It was around 6 PM on a Saturday. I bought a Millefeuille, a cheesecake, and a banana tart, as those were the only three fresh cakes available that day. The staff mentioned there was an event, so only takeout was possible. Even though I wanted more for my family, I ended up buying just three cakes for 1,620 yen. Surprisingly, the Millefeuille was made to order, with custard and whipped cream prepared fresh. The attention to detail was impressive, and the final product was beautifully packed for me to take home. Although I didn't eat them myself this time, my children and husband enjoyed the cheesecake and banana tart, both of which had unique flavors and a hint of alcohol. They were delicious. Even my daughter, who usually dislikes bananas, found the banana tart tasty. Next time, I definitely want to bring home Millefeuille for everyone. I look forward to visiting again. Thank you for the wonderful treats.

A cake shop that quietly operates at night. After dining at Ramen Nishiki, I impulsively entered the shop. There were only a few fresh cakes in the showcase. I bought a Halloween Charlotte Poire (probably) for 1,080 yen (I couldn't find the price written anywhere). They packed it carefully in a box, so I could take it home neatly. When I tried the pear Charlotte Poire, it was incredibly delicious. The texture and flavor of the fruit filling inside were well-balanced, creating a gentle and pleasant taste overall. It's a cake that I really like, not overly sweet but not bland either. It's exciting to find such a delicious cake just by chance. The Halloween cake turned out to be a pumpkin cake as expected. When I inserted the fork, I heard a special crispiness at the bottom. The base was quite crispy. The top mousse didn't absorb any moisture, creating a surprising texture. This cake also has a well-rounded and delicious flavor. Seasonal cakes other than regular items often involve trial and error, resulting in many misses. However, this cake, which I tried for the first time, exudes a sense of reliability and deliciousness. It feels like a talented shop that can compete with famous stores in Kyoto. It's incredibly delicious. I want to come back for more right away. Thank you for the meal.

I visited a shop that had received a review from Psyken8700. The last time I stopped by, the shop seemed to be open but the owner was not there, so I couldn't enter as the door was closed. However, this time I was able to visit. Upon opening the door, there was a small showcase in front. The entrance was crowded with one person, but the back right side had a cafe space where you could sit and enjoy inside the shop. This time, I decided to take out three types of baked goods - marble pound cake, madeleine, and vanilla cookies. The pound cake and madeleine were moist and delicious, with a buttery flavor in the sponge cake. The vanilla cookies had a crispy texture. My daughter liked them so much that she ate almost all of them (laughs). They were high-quality baked goods that were orthodox and reassuring. Inside the showcase, I saw a large crème brûlée on a big plate, which I love. I was interested, but I was on my way to dinner, so I had to give up this time. However, since it's an area I often visit, I would like to come back and definitely try the brûlée. Thank you for the meal~!

Located in the heart of Gion's drinking district, this shop stays open until late at night, despite its name not suggesting so. This has made it a popular choice for bringing desserts to bars. I had the opportunity to try it this time. However, since everyone was already drinking, we ended up enjoying it with alcohol (definitely not tea time haha). But they must have known that. The taste was not too sweet, so there was no risk of heartburn, allowing us to fully enjoy the sweets late at night. It's a city where you can't decide between finishing with ramen or finishing with cake.

Today, I visited a small patisserie called "Le Soleil" in Gion. It is located on the first floor of the Pine Village Building, near the intersection of Hanamikoji Street and Higashioji Street. The patisserie is run by a female chef and offers a variety of cakes for takeout, as well as a small seating area for dining in. I ordered the Mont Blanc and coffee set, which was delicious. The Mont Blanc had a generous amount of finely crushed chestnuts, and the chestnut cream was not too sweet, with a hint of alcohol. It also had a crunchy macaron-like topping, which added a nice touch to the dessert. Overall, "Le Soleil" is a hidden gem in Gion, perfect for a relaxing cafe time. The staff were friendly and provided excellent service. I will definitely be back again.

After having dinner, we moved to this cute cafe with a white-based theme. It has a long operating hours from 12 PM to 1 AM, with a cozy seating area of 4 counter seats and 1 table for 2. The staff, especially a very friendly lady, explained each cake to us. My wife and I chose our cakes and enjoyed them with iced tea and black tea. Both cakes had a light texture and were delicious. We felt like we could eat one more, but decided to save it for next time. We plan to buy several cakes for takeout on our next visit.

This is a cake shop located on the west side of Higashioji Road Shinbashi Street, on the 1st floor of a building with dark red tiles. The front of the building is white with a light brown door and frame, and the shop name is written in black letters next to the entrance, creating a simple and soft atmosphere. Inside, there is a small showcase at the entrance, a counter with 4 seats at the back, and one table seat. The interior has a relaxed and simple yet soft atmosphere with a base of light brown and white colors. I ordered a Mascarpone mousse cake with strawberries... I forgot the rest! The cake was smooth and rich, with a dome of mousse containing a strawberry compote in the center. The base of the cake was moist with a hint of almond flavor. The iced tea I had was smooth and refreshing, with no bitterness. The shop's opening hours are from 12:00 to 25:00, but they may close early sometimes.
